Samsung Omnia

hi everyone. i like gadgets... who doesnt. i dont like them for their technicalities, some people do though. i like them for the way the look and feel etc. some of you can call me a poser!
anyway, i have the samsung omnia and i really like the black and silver theme that a few folk were talking about. it looks great. however, i understand zilch of what is being said about how to get it to work.
can someone be ever so kind and post a step by step guide on how to get this done? would really appreciate it.
also...if i ever decide to use the gps navigation thing, will i be charged for it?
im with voda and get all gprs data free, i know thats totally diff, but as i said before - im totally daft.

As already stated this is HTC land and much as I would like to help I have a HTC not an Omnia and dont have a clue.

Its free software that works on both platforms and lets you easily change skins.
It works great but you have to buy SPB Mobile Shell that it works with but you can get a 15 day trial for free. Its well worth a look if you dont want to learn to much and want to try loads of skins.

Samsung & carrier fees reason for Froyo delays?

I do not know how accurate, truthful or factual this person is, but their post explains why we don't have Froyo yet - basically US carriers have to pay more for feature updates rather than maintenance updates, and Samsung insists Froyo is a feature update but carriers insist is a maintenance update being that Google did the majority of the work:

These posts keep getting taken down by the mods. Cut the guy some slack! He didn't know. My post on this had over 1,000 views and over 30 comments and still got taken down. I mean, we're all clamoring for ANY news on Froyo. I mean, what else do we have to talk about here? Rooting or installing the Froyo hack?
Honestly, OP, I like and can't get enough of the "Where's Froyo?" posts either. Why? Any news at all is worth a read for me. I want my Froyo!

Do we have any indication that Samsung and/or SamsungJohn are hearing us???

I didn't want to pollute the issues thread (and I commend the ones that started it). I am just curious if we have any indication that Samsung and/or SamsungJohn hear us???
This forum could be a GREAT way to feedback directly to Samsung and give them input on their software (if they are indeed serious about fixing it). They could even use a portion of the XDA population (those that are capable) for beta testing and feedback since their beta testers seemed to miss quite a few big bugs, some that have been known to us for MONTHS.
Like I said, I commend the effort, just wondering if we KNOW (for a fact) that the right eyes see your work.

A guy post this photo in gfan bbs, without any comment or announcement........Even we ask him............So we don`t know whether it`s fake or not.........Could anybody here find out some evidences (maybe the photo is PS )from this photo to prove it`s fake？

I got some news. This guy may use the same method as Mikevhl`s. Now, one of his friends told me Many thing in this ROM are not working , probably mean GPS APN and etc.
Latest information：
Minutes ago，I chat with him through private message，he told me， due to some reason other than profit， he decides not to release his method and related resource...... And he also said Chinese do as well as foreigners in hacking.
Though it is not enough to prove the photo, but if what he said is true, I just want to say: very very very pity.....................
Now I`m still trying to figure out what is happening.....
If I figure it out, I will let you know in no time.

I did notice the thread in gfan too (yep I read Chinese). What could the reason of not releasing the method be? And why was he banned frequently? Very mysterious...

Looks kinda real - especially the different menu layout tells me that this photo could be real...

In my opinion, if he really port CM7 to the MS2, he would have made a video! With Photoshop everyone can fake pictures, but to fake a video is really really hard...
So, because he did not make a video, i have always Photoshop in my mind...

No offense but how do we know if you're not just fishing for laptop repairs or quick cash? It seems kinda fishy now. If you are serious, how about some screenshots when the tester arrives? I think that might help ease some people's minds. Plus, not really sure what (if any) can be done with a tester device if it's locked down. Unless, HTC left the sd card with the rom update on board still I hope this all turns out okay.

Sure ill put pics when I can.

Sorry but it seems like a scam to me. Why would HTC and not T-Mobile be sending out emails regarding a T-Mobile ROM ?
