[Q] It is important to update the Firmware before Installing a Custom Rom ?

Hello Everyone,
I've been reading the "Ultimate Guide to the Huawei U8800" at the Modaco Android Forum, and until know I've been able to root my phone, install the recovery and fix the reversed Camera Bug.
But the fallowing part of the Tutorial talks about Firmware Update, is this really important before installing a Custom Rom ? And, if it is can anyone explain me why ?

Well someone here at xda wrote that with the newest firmware you get a baseband-update for some devices (he was not sure I think). I did not apply the newest firmware, maybe it was already installed, at least I did not encounter any problems.
You cannot break anything by applying the newest update from Huawei. So if you want to make sure, go ahead. Just do not stick to the Huawei-ROM. Do yourself a favor and install void, Oxygen oder Miui. I use Oxygen, it is based on Android 2.3.5 which is just very fast and the battery lasts about 2 days. You won't get much support for the Huawei-ROMs and there are some bugs. But there also are bugs with the custom-ROMs, so read the description first.

I would strongly suggest updating to the latest B138/B162 before installing a custom Rom. To my knowledge, a stock Rom installation does the firmware upgrade on the screen/internal modules as well.

As long as yours is a U8800 and not U8800H, then you should be just fine.

B138/B162 are the same?
I thought that B162 was newer than B13x versions.
Can you explain please?

They are not the same. B13x are generally made for the whole world, except China. Being the home country, China has a dedicated set of Roms - B158, B160, B162 versions.
B138 is as new as B162, they were both released at the same time. I don't like B162, the icons and interface are slightly different.
I would recommend B137/B138, preferably 138 as it has the latest drivers.

Advise
For those that want to update the firmware of their devices, don't worry (I was very scary indeed :S), the phone will boot, and reboot, and reboot, and reboot .... until you see and Android screen ^^
OH THE CAMERA IS SO FAST COMPARED TO THE ORIGINAL FIRMWARE !!! Thank you ! A lot really

I've used all roms and they work very well (I still prefer Oxygen), but I cannot use them because they need and External SD Card to take picture and listen to Music....
So until there I have no choice that stay with the Original Rom :S...
If only I can help solve the problem...

What happens wham you turn the device on can you see Acer logo?
If you can just get into recovery and flash a rom simple as that but if you can't get into recovery then you need more then a rom to unbrick

Use the search button frnd....maybe that'll help u...i don't think there's a rom by that name in the development section....but you can always search the development section for ur rom or another rom that satisfies u...

oh yes, that was my first installed crom! i still have it in my computer but it is too buggy. battery, bluetooth issue, etc. But there is one thing i love about Bokep - that is the SE Launcher: pinch it to show / float all widgets

Restoring my phone to original (factory) settings after custom ROM

Hi,
I have recently rooted my S5360. Then I installed a custom ROM. But I want to get my old phone back. I want to restore it to the original ROM which it came from Samsung. Can I do that? How??

I would like to try Flyme 4.5 on my 900T. That chinese guy "lushengduan" has miui v6 for s5 http://www.miui.com/thread-2518089-1-1.html and he says the same "基于三星官方底包4.4.2适配，适配机型：G9006v/G9008v/G900f，理论上支持G900I/L、SCL23，其他机型未测试，请勿尝试！！" and MIUI v6 works fine on my 900T.
Question: Could you upload all those files from OP on any cloud (mega, etc)? I cannot get registered, it is frustrating.

I wanted to get registered but files are located on Baidu servers and to get registered into Baidu it is necessary to get a land Chinese line phone

Managed to download it. Use chrome and go on baidu download site, change to desktop view. Now you are able to download the file. Would upload it, but takes about 2 or 3 hours with my slow inet connection -.-
Searching now for possible working kernels and trying to get it boot ^^
In chinese forum there is the g900f listed as working device with this rom....

yes we need help i try all kernels but it wont boot and i do the instructions but always nothing . i try the 4.1.3R is good but it based on cm11(4.4.4) but this version is 4.5 based on android 5.0

I have to have 5.0 firmware yes? Must it be stock firmware flashed via Odin or any custom stock based?
Then download recovery from BAIDU and flash it and then flash ROM?
