Okay, I was not what you call 'very active' with commenting on this forum. Despite, I still downloaded loads of ROMs.
23 December, my Nexus 5 came, it was a gorgeous device, and because my sister needed a new phone, I gave her my old Desire HD.
After a week, she comes to me complaining: The device won't turn on!
When I try to boot it up, 5 short vibrations happen and nothing else. After some Google, I know the motherboard is probably dead...
I actually felt quite sad, the Desire HD was my first smartphone, and I had it through rough and fun times, sad and love times, it was not a phone to me anymore, it became my own little friend...
I want to thank all the developers out there who supported the Desire HD through the years that came and those who will come.
Let's hope my Nexus 5 will bring as much joy as my Desire did.
Not your anyday-post, but come one guys, we have feelings too
TL;DR, I love you guys!
Goodbye threads are not allowed as they are considered OT. In any case, I'm happy that you liked your phone, and all the best for your new one. Thread closed.

Rachel and I broke up this weekend.
I saw it coming awhile ago, but when it happened it was faster than I expected. Rachel and I started our love affair about 6 months ago. We got along very well, but there were drawbacks to our relationship.
I remember when I first saw her, she looked nearly perfect. She was gorgeous in her sexy black outfit, and tall. But she was only 16. You know how 16 is, sexy as hell and full of promise, a bit of a tease.
I tried to introduced her to a few of my friends; Bluant S4, Vlingo and MBW-150. They liked her well enough but she didn’t fully connect to them. She wouldn't even talk to Vlingo.
There were other problems. Like the fact that she wouldn’t let me touch her multiple times (she hated when I tried to pinch her). She would tire out quickly during the day and have to take a nap to recharge.
I started thinking that I needed to maybe look around for someone older, more mature. Someone maybe 21 or 22. I started flirting with a few others, but nothing serious.
Rachel noticed, and started to make some promises. She asked me to give her some time to mature. “just a few months” she said. “just until October, please.” I waited, giving her the benefit of the doubt. October came, but she hadn’t changed. “I need a little more time”, she said. “give me until the end of the month, November at the latest, December for sure.” By this time, someone else had caught my eye.
Desire wasn’t quite as beautiful as Rachel, but she made up for it in other ways. She was more mature for one thing. She was 21, and about to turn 22. We started flirting, and went out a few times. She loved being touched multiple times, and giggled when I pinched her. She was more outgoing and got along with a lot more people. She would speak with everyone in the market, and introduced me to others that I didn't know. She was happy to meet Bluant S4, and Vlingo, and connected right away with MBW-150. She felt faster and more exciting that Rachel too.
So I took the plunge, and broke it off with Rachel. I wished her the best of luck, hoping that she will mature over the next few months. Will I ever date another Finnish/Japanese girl? I doubt it. They look beautiful, but they all seem to tease rather than please. I think I’m done with them. I’m moving on.
Am I happy with Desire? Sure. But I can’t help but feel that there is something missing. Desire’s more petite than Rachel, not quite as high class. She’s missing a few things that I loved about Rachel. Will things last with Desire? I don't know. I think that maybe she might be my rebound girl.
Desire did show me a picture of her cousin the other day. She’s in Europe right now, but might be coming to North America later this year, or early next. She even has almost the same name as Desire, with a few added initials; Desire HD. She looks hot. Reminds me a lot of Rachel. I could get into her in a heartbeat.
But for now, Desire’s my girl and we’re enjoying ourselves.
I want to thank everyone for all of the advise and help I received in this forum. The Xperia X10 was my first Android phone, and you never forget your first.
Please excuse the “farewell post”.
Good luck to all with the 2.1 update, and I hope the devs crack the bootloader so that the updates don’t stop at 2.1.
As an ex-SE fanboy, I really hope that SE gets its act together and starts listening to the dev community. However I really doubt it, which is why the X10 will be my last SE phone.
As for me, I’m moving on to the HTC Desire while I wait for the Desire HD to arrive in Canada. Cheers everyone, see you around.
I thought desire was a male

Well guys, our device isn't getting any younger, and many of us have got new devices. In order to keep the forums cleaner this thread is meant for saying goodbye.
I've got a Nexus S, but I still have GT540 lying around, I just want to say thanks to our devs for making our device such a wonderful and interesting experience, also I want to thank everyone who helped me and answered my mostly stupid questions. I'll still visit GT540 forums but probably less often.
Again, thanks everybody!!!

Goodbye too
I say goodbye to the community GT540 too. I bought a Galaxy S i9000. So thanks to all the developers who keep this device alive.
I didnt want to create a new topic, so I wrote it here
hi guys,
bought a LG Optimus 2x ...
last rom i flashed to gt540 was miro's last AOSP because there is no need for swap (and an sd-card) and its stable and fast...
But know he has also left so its time to change ...
I'll randomly look into this forum, but for now I'll molest the devs in Optimus 2x-Thread
Goodbye!!!
Bye man
i got my HTC One V a few months ago. just gave my GT540 away to charity (screen was broken for the 4th time anyways , and couldnt get the motivation to fix it) still look in these forums from time to time, for nostalgia purposes i guess goodbye to you all and it's been a great 3 years
After a long time away i decided to stop in here for a while. The gt540 was my first android phone, in fact it was my first smart phone. Since then i have had galaxy s, galaxy s2, desire hd, hd2, iphone 4, 4s and 5.... In no particular order.
Learning how to root and install roms were all part of the fun and learning. It was great being part of this community.
And now i must say..... Goodbye

Goodbye if you have a little time give this old thread a short stroll
Farewell dear friends, I changed my phone with a clone dell'S3, I had fun with you and hope to meet again one day. With some of you there have been controversies, but I love you and I appreciate the work you have done for this phone, I will not forget! Thanks for everything .. bye!
Hi everybody,
I'm sorry to say bye to you guys because you've all been so awesome ever since I stumbled across XDA over 3 years ago.
I've had my good 'ol faithful DHD since (one week after) launch day and thanks to all you committed dev's here it's become much more awesome since!
But... I'm sorry to say that it'll now probably become relegated to the sock drawer, also I'll probably not be using XDA much now because my next phone is a.... Windows Phone! :crying:
Yes, that cry is justified! I've gotten hold of a brand new HTC 8X for the princely sum of £0.00 (which to my friends across the pond is FREE!) so I'll probably not have much reason to visit not only these forums but interact with society a whole anyway - because as we all know, WP cant do anything.
It's sad to go now guys & gals and I wish there was some way to thank-nuke all the amazing dev's past and present which have all rallied together for this amazing little device, you have all made it an amazingly friendly community all bound by the weirdest passion we all share - tinkering with a little (big) 4.3" HTC android phone built in 2010 - but to me at least, and I assume many more, our DHD's were more than just a phone. It was our own personal wee android butler.
BYE!

OT, see Guide Sticky
Now its been 2 years with the HTC HD2 and I was really excited about what the phone actually can do.
I cheated in my finals, I lost my gf, anyway when I was in trouble, in a ****ty situation my HD2 helped me with any app, mod or anything.
From now my new mate will be the HTC One. The Change had only one reason: my HD2 was too 'old' and 'slow' for me.
I wanted a newer one, a faster one with more tweaks and mods.
But I didn't want, that my HD2 RIP and wastes in my showcase. So what I did is: flashed the latest rom (Touchwizmod), and gave it to my younger sister with the wise words: it can be your best friend, it was my light in the darkness. Handle it good!
So I think this was a good decision 'cause my sister is also interested in modding.
Yesterday I checked the last time the threads of http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928, I did a last full wipe, charged the battery full and plugged my charger off for ever.
All in all, it was a long journey with you my pal, but for now i have to say thank you and have to reach the crown of smartphones further.
Still a better love story than Twilight
Personally im torn bout selling my oldie, pissed of by Android, moved to WP. Let's see how it can impress me ( marketplace SUX BALLS )
The title is exactly as it sounds. I finally parted ways with my good old HTC Desire Z a week or two back, it's in my mom's hands now for the time being. Honestly, I really loved this community for helping out, building roms, and everything. Hell, I love the whole xda community, who am I kidding. Even though I am no longer going to have this phone for a while (until my mom gets a new one, that is ) I'm gonna still be around if people have any questions regarding it, or also regarding the YouTube series I had showcasing some roms that were built for it. I'm just in one of those nostalgic-feeling moods, where I want to say thank you to everyone for all they've done xD
