How to unbrick the phone for N9005(HK 16GB) - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Please read the whole thread before working on it.
I know everyone is frustrating in upgrading to 4.4.2 but brick during odin process (ext4 fail) and stuck in 4.4.2 bootloader.
Here is the method to solve this problem:
Before working on it, we have to prepare the following things:
1. Odin 3.07 (Yes, 3.09 does not work)
2. HK firmware odin pack (Pit, BL (DO NOT WORK WITH IT, AP, CP, CSC): http://pan.baidu.com/s/1Bvm6g (Sorry for giving the chinese link, I hope someone to make a new link for me)
3. 4.4.2 leaked firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608178
4. 4.4.2 rom, I used sweet rom v.7 to fix it
5. 4.4.2 recovery cwm
5. Samsung driver (bullshxt)
Now lets get started:
1. Flash the 4.4.2 firmware BL by odin.
2. Flash the HK Firmware AP, CP &CSC (Do not use the HK firmware BL)
3. once it done, turn to Download mode again and flash 4.4.2 recovery cwm by odin
4. Run Recovery
5. Wipe everything
6. Flash 4.4.2 rom ( I flashed sweet rom v7 currently)
7. Boot to system and do all the setting ( The sound and the signal are not working)
8. Boot back to download mode
9. Boot the 4.4.2 leaked firmware's CP ( DO NOT WIPE AFTERWARD)
10. Prepare coffee and cookies
11. Enjoy your device!

The Leaked KitKat CP didn't do any good, just harm, the phone keeps hanging, still no volume, no camera, cannot make calls.
Guess there is no way out.

I'm just checking why I couldn't get the Sweet Rom lockscreen, dialer, sound and camera to work. So here are my questions.
1.
In step 1, the firmware BL you used is from Leaked Poland kit kat ?
2. Did you use PIT in any steps?
3. In step 5, wipe everything means data/factory reset, cache and Dalvik?

I got it fixed, some of the instructions are inaccurate. I will write a perfectly detail version later on how to fix.

Tried to follow this, but failed ... I don't think the instructions are clear (no PIT, etc)
Followed them though ... and no luck.
Thanks to the poster, but hasn't helped me. Cheers.

I did find this useful, despite not getting to the final step, I also found these directions a little clearer:

I have 4.4.2 ... seems a tad buggy, so not sure if I'm out of the woods just yet.
Thanks for this thread though.

Clear as crystal - still, have used the other instructions and managed to succeed. Wish I had had yours earlier to explain the 3:07 ODIN terms as the first poster uses 3.09 ODIN terms.
Thanks.
Cheers.

Actually, I thought it was good, but my phone is still playing up - no matter what I do or what I try, there is something always not right. This time it was the video camera ... Fails. FFS
I'm really over this and don't really know what to do or think...
Just disappointed really.

You mean you have successfully flashed custom ROM but your ROM has problems? If so, you need to consult the ROM author because many of the Custom ROMs are still in the developing stages and still have many bugs

Help with XXLPY stock ICS

Hey guys,
So basically, i rooted using using a guide i found here on XDA, worked great, did it with CWM.zip and SU-Busybox-Installer.zip, Went real easy for a noob like me!
The problem ive got now, i dont seem to have a proper copy of CMW recovery installed, just the stock recovery.
This wouldnt be too much of a problem, however i read the follow :
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/insta...xy-note-on-xxlpy-ice-cream-sandwich-firmware/
This is worrying, it sounds to be more difficult to install a proper CMW recovery than it is too root on this build number : IML74K.XXLPY
Overall, all im aiming for this Kernel :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749863
And this ROM :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716088
(Performance, stock rom with a little OC basically, if you know easier/better combinations, please link them!)
If any of u clever folk know where i can find me some idiot friendly information/links/guides to pull what (I think) is a mammoth task, please feel free to point me in the right way.
Thanks in advance, Sorry for what might seem like daft questions
Is downgrading to GB a must or can i just install a new ROM with mobile ODIN pro?

*#272*Device IMEI# works for me, should have guessed that it was the netherlands GB rom, CSC 'zen', ill download that tonight then.and all i gotta do is flash with pc odin?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
What you should do is:
- Download a GB rom from SamMobile, Preferably a directly rootable one (i suggest KKA).
- Download ODIN
- Flash the GB Rom via Odin (open the rom in the PDA section), don't worry flashing an official rom wont raise your flash counter.
- Download the InitialCFRootFlasher.zip and this CF-Root Kernel.
- Extract the files (repeat for the zImage).
- Place the zImage file from the CF-Root kernel in the zImage folder from InitialRootFlasher.
- Start "not-rooted-yet.bat" and follow the instructions.
When finished you will have a rooted GB rom.
Next you would like to flash the ICS LPY Rom.
- Download the LPY ROM.
- Download the CF-Root Kernel.
- Extract the files (repeat for the zImage)
- Place both files on your SD card.
- Install MobileOdin.
- Install the Device Specific files.
- Press 'Open File' and select the LPY Rom.
- Press 'Kernel' and select the zImage.
- Enable EverRoot, SuperSU , Inject Mobile ODIN and Wipe Dalvic cache.
- Flash firmware.
When rebooted you will have a rooted LPY rom with CWM and busybox.
Dont mix the zImages up or else your screwed.
I do not take credit for this tutorial ,this is thanks to Chainfire and his hard work so if you like it, please donate to him.
Is it not necessary to download a GB rom one with a matching csc?

These CF-Root kernels are stock kernels modified by Chainfire. He pre-rooted the kernel and added CWM, BusyBox and SuperSU. These kernels are considered safe if you stick to the tutorial by the letter!!.

Hey guys, followed by the book, cant even get past the initial setup screen, just crashes every application it tries to start as soon as i 'press the android', so im stuck at the moment, hopefully its not beyond rescue!
EDITED: So, i did a factory reset as i was already GB, works fine, flashed ICS LPY with mobile odin, got CWM and busybox, now its time to flash the custom ROM, which option in PC odin so i select for choosing the kernel zimage?
is it bootload/pda/phone or csc. according to the guide for the rom im interested in which is in my OP, i need to flash kernel FIRST
thanks so far guys, all the information has been correct and im almost done
One more thing though, the samsung keyboard is still typing null on key entry on this ICS also, is this something i should worry about? i prefer swiftkey either way!
Im now running a custom ROM and Kernel, scary stuff, but so much more comfortable with the process now, this is due to Lodi and Baz77, Many thanks to you both!

The firmware u are using is just fine I had used the same and for more then a month and incase if u want a pit file u check my signature the 2 nd link is having a pit file make sure u download for ur i9500 only using other version pit file is dangerous
Flash pit file only along with the firmware u have
U also need to check re partition if ur flashing pit file also
However if u are not using pit file do not check re partition
Double check b4 starting the process to be sure

Omega rom V 33 - XXUGNF1 Modem problem

Hi,
I've successfully upgraded my Omega Rom on my galaxy S4 to V 33 - XXUGNF1. The thing is, I downloaded the LTE modem XXUGNF1 as well but after I flashed it with Odin, I still see I9505XXUFNC9 in my specs on the phone...
In the installation guide on the site they use I9505XXUFNC9_GSM_LTE_Modems.tar as well for installation, so I wonder if it's not possible to install the XXUGNF1 version. It would be weird since I can donwload the XXUGNF1 modem from their site....
Anyone an idea what went wrong? Didn't I flash correctly? I dont know which bootloader I have (dont know where to see that), but since I have KitKat I guess I have the new boatloarder...
Thanks!

There are a few steps to be followed. I had the same problem and I will make a review on Youtube in order to get rid of this.
1. Download Odin v3.04. Google it, it's the first link.
2. Download the prefered modem.
3. Get into Download and open Odin.
4. Connect your device via USB to your computer.
5. UNTICK auto-reboot. THIS IS CRUCIAL.
6. Set your modem .tar in PHONE seciton.
7. Hit Start.
8. After it's done, unplug your S4.
9. Turn it off BY REMOVING BATTERY.
10. Boot again into Download and flash it again, following the same steps.
11. After the flashing is complete, remove USB and power off using power button.
12. Boot up and your modem should be changed.
13.(OPTIONAL) If it doesn't work, flash it again and again...It should work though.:victory:
isf please tell me:
why remove the battery and then flash it again? doesnt make sense to me

Where should I know? Maybe it's a bug or something... I discovered that by myself. You asked, I answered.

What I did was just pull the cable out while it was flashing. Then flashing it again with the normal procedure fixed it for me.

Galaxy Note 3- Problems After Upgrading To 5.0

I am sure that XDA developers will not let me down
Dear guys,
I had updated my kitkat 4.4.2 to lollipop 5.0 but I faced to major problems which are:
1. My screen shoot (Screen write) function works for maybe 3 or 4 times only and then nothing happens when I get out my pen and press it, so I have to restart the device to make it work for more 3 or 4 times!!!
2. I cannot find a good way to root after upgard it to lollipop. :crying: :crying:
Model: N9005
AP: N9005XXUGBOEA
CP: N9005XXUGBOD3
CSC: N9005OJVGBOE4
I appreciate your support and thanks for your time
1) Hmm... haven't seen that problem before. Try installing some apps from the play store that allow you to screetshot.
2) How did you previously root? I rooted my LG-D415 Android Version 5.0.2 using Kingroot.

thank your for your concern
well...
1. I will, even it makes me so sad because it was the major function of the pen.
2. previously I followed the instructions in this video youtube.com/watch?v=hUghV16l9d8
Make sure you have done a clean installation of the ROM. By clean installation I mean make a full wipe, from TWRP (a custom recovery), go to Advanced Wipe and select everything except your external SD, in case you have one installed. Then flash the latest Lollipop ROM via Odin. The latest stable LP ROM I found to be OF3, so get that from sammobile.com.
And root can't be more easy. When you are done flashing the stock ROM via Odin just place this zip on your phone, https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip, reboot to recovery, which will be TWRP (and after flashing the stock ROM you will have to reflash TWRP, cause flashing stock ROM always installs the stock recovery), and just install the zip from there, done.

[How-To]Install Vodafone-Branded Marshmallow firmware to your G920F ONLY!!!

Hi to everyone!!!
I saw that many of you are having issues about the installation of the Vodafone-branded OS. If you want to install it very easily and fast, just follow this guide! You can follow this guide to install any branded OS to your G920F ONLY
WARNING: This procedure will delete all of data, however it wont trip KNOX
1. Download the Vodafone branded OS (here mirror not mine)
2. Download this pit file if your phone is the G920F ONLY
3. Open Odin and put the pit that we downloaded in the pit section and the firmware in the AP selection.
4. Start flashing
5. Voila. It is recommended to wipe the data and cache after flashing the OS to ensure the best performance out of it.
That's it. This pit file is made from @yakapa40 and make sure you press the "Thanks" button to him too.
Don't forget to press the "Thanks" button to me to for letting you know about this trick. I have tested and it works like charm!!!
No extra help will be given from me
Thanks for this PIT file, and if we want to go back to the original pit file do you know where we can find it ?
My version goes like this
1. Unpack G920FXXU3DPB8+Service+firmware.zip (Link)
2. Put the files where they say they should go (AP = AP / BL = BL ect)
3. Press Start
4. Done
This wipes you're storage so backup beforehand!
EDIT: Not sure if this trips KNOX, it shouldn't as its official firmware, but I cannot tell you as I already had KNOX tripped from the beta

But it wont void the KNOX counter

It is not harmful to the SIM(Slovenia). It is operating normally. The only restart 10 minutes.
Work normally. I updated by the method as described above. Data is not deleted if you do not want. Root disappears.
Guys, how about Voice Quality?
We have new modem...
Guys one question i used this pit to flash from BTU to ORO firmware , then i did factory reset and flashed Xef without this pit and again did factory reset so i got csc from xef active...After doing ota 6.0.1 i again did factory reset so now everything is clean i dont have root or knox 0x1...My question is do i have to flash some kind of original pit from 6.0.1 xef or i am good to go like this ?? Thx

I downloaded the PIT And FW and followed the OP's instructions, worked perfectly. My question is, With tha new security update a while ago, where you can't downgrade your Android OS version. Now that I am on the 6.0.1 from the OPs post, am I able to revert back to my original PIT and Android 5.1.1?
If so, how do I know what PIT is my original one, and to reflash it do I need to follow the OPs instructions, only changing the PIT used and FW used? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Forgot to say, I am on the Meteor Network, in Ireland.
Thank you! Running 6.0.1...Couldn't wait any longer! I'm on 3UK
