Hi there. D:
I opened a thread here some minutes ago (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23800125#post23800125), where I ask for help for changing my notifications bar.
After opening the thread I discovered the web "UOT Kitchen", so there I just configured my order to just change the notifications bar as I want, uploaded my systemUI.apk and the framework-res one there and later I downloaded the file of my order.
On that file there was (inside of their folders) a new systemUI.apk and a new framework-res file. There was a META-INF folder and another one on the zip, but because I just uploaded the systemUI.apk and the framework-res file, I only copied these two on my SD Card. Then I opened Root Explorer and with it I overwrote the two files inside my Xplay.
After doing this, my Xplay shut down and now it is rebooting forever (it only appears the Sony-Ericsson logo, then the mobile shuts down and then reboots again).
I know what are you going to tell me, "don't touch something if you don't know well what are you doing". I agree with you, but please, tell me that this is easy to solve. PLEASE.
Thanks... T___T
Locked or unlocked bootloader?
Stock ROM (latest update), root, locked bootloader. R800i (Spain).
restore nadroid if you dont have one conect to pc companion and repair the Software..
It's a bootloop. Nothing that Flashtool can't cure
Download Flashtool and the latest firmware (.62) and follow the tutorial on the Q&A thread with all the resources. You won't even lose your data if you untick the relevant option on Flashtool
The issue could have happened because you maybe forgot to give those two files the appropriate file permissions. Since those files are loaded at boot, if they don't have the permissions they aren't loaded, and so the system tries and tries to load then without success, giving you a bootloop.
UOT Kitchen themes are update.zip files. As all update.zip files, they load stuff (in this case the SystemUI.apk and the framework-res) and give those files the permissions they need. If you look inside the META-INF folder you'll find a file called "updater-script". That file contains the permissions that those files are given. If you can replicate those permissions with the Root Explorer GUI, they will load properly on boot and you won't have a bootloop. However, that's difficult to do because you're actually using the SystemUI.apk and the framework-res at the same time that you modify them.
Flashtool basically nukes the system partition (where those two files are located) and flashes the stock one, so you will go back to the stock look. If you don't tick Wipe data, your data will be kept. It shouldn't be a problem, since the thing which caused the issue (faulty SystemUI and framework) is in the system partition.
Logseman, this totorial? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384535
And where can I find the latest firmware?
Thanks for your quick answers, guys.
PD: I didn't say it but, I saved my original systemUI and framework-res files before overwritting them. Is there any way to use them? I say it because I had a little mod on the notifications bar with switches...
Still looking for a download link for the 4.0.2.A.0.62 update, I don't find it...

There isn't one , just download the .42 one and update after. IF this doesn't work use SEUS - it can take up to 20 retries for it to work but it will work eventually (I've reflashed using it more than a couple of times where this was needed =|)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409355
Just download SEUS Sony ericsson update service and update your xperia play with it and it will all be so good as new
If you have cwm installed, you can fix everything in recovery via adb shell without wiping data...
(When its booting open up command prompt, type in adb wait-for-device then when you get the next command prompt, type in adb reboot recovery)

Ok, I flashed 0.42 with flashtool, updated to 0.62 with PC Companion and my Xplay is back to life xD
Now some questions...
1- I was rooted, have I lost root?
2- I lost the switches on the notifications bar. I have the systemUI and the framework-res files I had before all this mess. Is there any way to reinstall them to have again the switches?
3- Once everything is solved... How do I change the colour of the notifications then? xD

Hum, yes, i'm interested in unlocking my bootloader, but first there's the first question of my last post wich I think is very important, because when I got root I unisntalled some games like Fifa or the Sims and now they're back.
You have lost root indeed.
just connect you phone to Sonyericsson Update service ,
flash that

Just re-root with this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312859
You don't need the VERY latest firmware just .42, stop messing with your phone or if you do unlock the bootloader and make regular nandroid backups and before you want to mess around with system files
For god's sake it's about time someone stickied these two things, especially for noobs:
1. DON'T uninstall system apps. Freeze them and when you're sure everything's fine, say after a day or two, delete them. You can freeze with the pro version of titanium backup or with systemcleanup free. sure there are other apps too.
2. When replacing system files, copy the new files to /SYSTEM first. Change permissions there (if you don't know what permissions are or what permissions to set, STOP NOW and read up), and THEN move the files to the appropriate locations.
Too many problems because these simple steps were missed.

Hello,
I wanted to install the small nav bar for LG G2, so I've started by renamming my /system/framework/framework-res.apk to /system/framework/framework-res.apk.ori . The idea was to backup my original file before putting the mod framework-res.apk
This operation was done directly in the phone by es explorer (I'm rooted and dev mode activated)
Well after doing this, my phone has crashed and it's keeping rebooting again and again
It's possible to acces the file system shome how juste to rename back the file ? I don't want to reset the phone, it's kind of stupid :crying:
Thank you for your help
Cheers,
Hello, I have just wasted about a day of my time on this issue.
Problem:
When I root my S4, running Kitkat, or load custom Kitkat ROM - wanamlite in my case, then the auto rotate screen feature stops working.
The problem is not in the HW - the camera app, which rotates labels on the screen based on orientation - kept working through all the trouble.
Details:
- I decided to root my S4, mainly to be able to install xposed/xprivacy and Titanium Backup
- first, I rooted the stock ROM, using the chainfire method. Worked fine
- I did not install custom recovery at this point
- removed few modules in TB
- noticed that the screen auto rotate stopped working
- restored the removed modules in TB, auto rotate still not working
- installed TWRP and Wanamlite. Screen rotation first worked, but after some time ( and my guess is after few reboots ), screen auto rotate failed again.
I was unable to fix this, so I had to go back to stock ROM ( Swiss FNB9 ), to get the phone working again.
Searching on Google, it seems that few of the Samsung devices have this problem of screen auto-rotation not working after rooting....
Before I try rooting again, is this a known problem ? Any fix with a high degree of reliability ?
Thanks for any info, Paul.

Wow, very much appreciated! This worked perfectly for my S4 with KitKat.
Today I noticed my auto screen rotation stopped. I googled around, tried many work-arounds, but none of them helped. A hard reset didn't work, a soft reset didn't work, Bluetooth/GPS/WiFi off didn't help, calibration using an app didn't work, etc.
I rooted my phone (as I had before, but because of the hard reset I had to root it again), installed Root Explorer, and put the libgnustl_shared.so file in the System/lib folder (while mounted R/W). I rebooted and BAM! Auto screen rotation was back again!

That fixed it indeed !! Thanks man ! I had problems pasting the file into that directory but the "root browser" app from the play store could paste it. Then changed permissions, rebooted and ... back is screen rotation !!! Thanks !! :good:

BTW, so it seems the problem is that when you uninstall samsung HUB (which I indeed did), it removes that particular file. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49604191

Hi, Besides hitting the THANKS button, I would like to give following information for other users:
I have PhilzTouch installed and tried to flash the zip file severel times, But everytime after wiping cache part. and dalvik I noticed that nothing changed.
So I did the copy/paste action as described and after rebooting it worked.
Hi All,
I had the same issue when i rooted my device, and lost the rotation and use the method described here to fix the issue.
But after reboot the phone it will keep popping the message " Unfortunately, Samsung Hub has stopped" and it won't go away or let me do anything on the phone, as soon as i hit the OK button it will popup again.
Any possible fix for that, Please !!!
Thank you all.
In English, please...

Can someone help me with this, please... I have no idea what this means.
1) I downloaded the file
2) The instructions say to move the libgnustl_shared.so file into System>>Lib. When I download the file, libgnustl_shared.so is already in a folder called System>Lib...
3) Someone else said to FLASH via recover or something?? What does that mean? Can someone explain this in straightfoward terms? Thank you.
In that case, you should try to replace the existing file with the new one.
You just need to set up the parameters of the file (permissions into rw r r) as explained before. You can do it with ES Explorer for instance.
No need to do something else, just reboot.

changin permission parameters for getting screen rotation
OK, easy, my first question was and has been "how to change the permissions".
And alone, not being an Android Geek, I succeeded !!!
First use Root Explorer, with it copy and paste (or move) the " libgnustl_shared.so" file in the "\system\lib" directory.
Once it's done (always with Root Explorer) apply a finger on this new file, a menu appears and choose "Permissions". Then there, keep only Read on the three lines, and only Write on the first line. Then click on OK.
And reboot your system.
Amazing, it's working, like the first day and before you rooted it...
Thanks again for your solution.
thanks
works great on i9505 kitkat. don't forget to reboot
no permission
im getting this when i try to do it,
"changing permissions was not successful. please note that some file systems do not allow permission changes"
anyone know how to get around this??
cheers
Hi, all
I have a problem with the lockscreen.
It happened when I replacing the files of "bootsamsung.qmg" , "bootsamsungloop.qmg" , "bootsamsungmini.qmg" and "bootsamsungminiloop.qmg" of /system/media to change the bootanimation using the Root Explorer, and then this problem started, I can not lock the screen, but I can turn off the cell phone, it's a thing of function button. When I turn on the cell phone, the bootanimation is in black, that is to say, I don't get the bootanimation.
I tried to go settings>>personalization>>lockscreen to change the settings of active screen and it don't work.
I tried to restore factory settings and wipe data, and it don't work.
I used the downloaded bootanimation with archives that contain "bootsamsung.qmg" and "bootsamsungloop.qmg" and copied to change his names "bootsamsungmini.qmg" and "bootsamsungminiloop.qmg", the download of this bootanimation is in <<http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2587092>> , the link is "BiosBootAnimation(Made_BY_NimaGL2).zip".

Try to set the boot animation all over again and follow every step (don't hurry or panic). Also take a look on the links posted by The dev of the boot animation. If it still didn't work please try to flash the stock boot animation via recovery. At last if everything didn't work put the rom on your sd card backup data and efs (titanium backup 4 example) and do wipe data and cache in recovery. Good luck

Try it should work
I found where is the problem, is in the permissions of files that have copied, I changed to rw-r--r--, and before when I had the problem was rwxrwx---, was a detail, and wherefore the lockscreen didn't let me that lock the screen.
Thanks, all, now works perfectly.

*shutdown.qmg (plays when phone turns off)
But what do the other two do and are they needed??

SOLUTION HERE
So I decided it would be a good idea to attempt to solve the 'sim card removed' notification problem I've been having by disabling notifications for systemui (since that's where 'app data' took me when I went to see what app was giving me the error. Since it would let me do that, I decided to try converting it to a user app, disabling notifications, and then converting it back to a system app using Rom Toolbox.
After converting to a user app failed (it did not convert) I now have a new problem. After being rebooted, systemui not only failed to launch, it;s not listed as being installed at all!
Can anyone provide a backup .apk of systemui so I can attempt to reinstall it and fix my screwup?
edit-update:: in rom tolbox, I managed to find a task with the same name viewing app info, I noticed it says 'excluded: YES', with yes in red and OOM Group is Foreground App. CPU time = 0s, which I assume means it's not running.
How to proceed?
more info: /sytem/app has no .apk or .odex for systemui
Yet more info: I tried Restart SystemUI from the Play store with no success. The option to go to SystemUI settings fails. It seems I somehow deleted/lost the systemui app? That should mean I can reinstall it if someone copies theirs, yes?
*bump*
Please, guys? This device is pretty much unusable right now and I literally need one .apk file to fix it. I swear I'll buy you a beer if we ever meet.

Hope it solves your problem.
But did you consider reseting the phone? Or use odin and install proper firmaware again?
Although it says .apk, it downloads as a zip file? The zip doesn't contain an .apk and attempting to install the zip through recovery fails with

Factory reset didn't fix it and stock image for the g530az apparently does not exist anywhere on the internet for some reason. Sideload fails also.
Please advise.
