Have you tried a factory reset?
You can roll back to 4.1.2 if you want, but you have to use an efs v2 modem firmware. Any modem firmware from EMG4 and after.

This and I wouldn't suggest you to revert back also because 4.3 contains new drivers,so you will lose some good gaming performance.
Also, always wait a little. Every time you install a new firmware, you always have to wait at least 1 week and phone finally will get used to new firmware,so it will become stable.

Of course...
Try a factory reset first.
Backup all of your important stuff from your internal storage > Factory reset > Transfer everything important back.
4.3 is a quite nice firmware for the S3, so a factory reset should clean things up a bit.

Can anyone explain backing up efs and then going back to 4.1.2.
Also if any risk is involved.

There is definitely a risk in downgrading as your efs partition might get corrupt.
I would say factory reset first.
I'm 100% sure 4.3 is better than 4.1 in terms of everything.

as i had heard the new bootloader from 4.3 does not allow to downgrade your device
so how can u now do it without rooting the device

If your phone is laggy after factory reset I would say flash the firmware again via ODIN and then do a factory reset.
Download your firmware from sammobile.com

its not that hard,u will get many threads on xda regarding how to root your phone
basically u will need a software called odin
through odin u will need to flash a recovery like twrp, cwm or philz touch
these recoveries are available on xda in zip files
after the process has been completed your phone will be rooted and at every boot u will see a red exclamation mark inside a triangle on the top left side of screen
just follow the steps properly and u will do it safely
good luck

Yes it does, I downgraded from 4.3 to 4.1.2 just fine with odin.

I will never downgrade as 4.3 has new drivers and some new designs which I like (except settings).

is battery life and performance is still same/improve as 4.1.2 ????

You can't go back to JB from KK... You may as well have said to connect to Kies and let that fix it...
To the Op, check if your Knox warranty void has been tripped, if it has you may as well root and install a custom rom and/or recovery, or at the very least xposed framework.
You can't reset theKnox but you can use a mod to trick the system into thinking its official which will allow OTA updates. You may need a couple of things to be active so the OTA will install but I'll let you look that up.

Used to read about a bug on samsung phones where if it contains too many files it would show system status as modified. Try transfer as much as your files from phone memory into sdcard then remove it. Then check again system status. It sounds crazy but i'm pretty sure that's my understanding from the thread

Strange, when flashing back to complete stock everything goes back to official (bar knox of course) - did you try the xeo? It's possible if you've used another firmware (carrier or country) the device may not like it.
Also a complete wipe may help too.

If you just wanna OTA, why don't you just directly flash latest stock firmware and save yourself a trouble?
If you are on old bootloader, flash corresponding firmware, 4.2 I guess, and then OTA, update to 4.3 or 4.4 which contains new bootloader.
So why don't you just directly flash it instead of go back to stock and OTA it?

About bootloader, we currently have 2 type, old and new ones, old is KNOX free and new ones are KNOX'ed , which means avoid your warranty.
But since you are on 4.3 already so it concerns you no more, because either way (I think ) you will trigger the KNOX and avoid your warranty
Yes, flash stock 4.4 via Odin will reset recovery to Samsung stock recovery and lose root access (I am not sure about this, but last 3 times I flashed stock firmware via Odin, the son of a ***** just formatted my internal sdcard!!! )
And yes, you shall have OTA in the future (I don't know if root affects it or not ) but anyway, you can this all over again once there is new version comes out.
But if you just wanna "easy" upgrade, I can tell you that odin latest or old firmware is same process...
If u root ur phone u will receive and download OTA Updates. But the unique way for install them are through STOCK Recovery :highfive:

No, what I meant is that, either you go back to old version of stock and then OTA, or directly flash latest firmware stock, they are all SAME process.
So you "old stock -> OTA" is kinda like pointless strategy.
If you just wanna latest firmware, download latest firmware, and then odin flash in, done, and you can keep future OTA as long as you don't touch anything. and even you do, you can repeatedly odin flash again, the future latest firmware...
Yeah, sorry for my bad English which makes my comment quite mouthful, hope you can understand me...

If the firmware is not branded by the network does this mean you can get the ota quicker as the network does not have to test and put their crap on it..
