[Q] How do you delete a system contact group - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to delete a system contact group? I never use the "Coworkers" group for instance, and it just clutters up the interface. There doesn't seem to be a way to delete it or rename the group, like I can do with groups I add myself. Very annoying.

Contact groups

Hi
I have just got a M1000
How can i add certain contacts to group to make them easily searchable and easier to send group texts.
thanks
Tim
1- Tap on the contact you want to assignt to a group
2- Tap Edit
3- Scroll down to Categories
4- Tap on Categories
5- Select one of the existing categories or if you want to add a new one yourself tap at add/delete tab and enter a new one.

Can you then assign ring tones to groups?
No XDA II hasn't a build-in option to assign ringtones to groups or persons.
However there are third party programs which offer this functionality.
A free one can be downloaded at: http://phonext.oabsoftware.nl

usability question GROUP messaging

hello all
I was just asked how I could set up a single contact for group messaging, for both email and text.
example
I want to text all my managers without entering each name, is there a group send contact or anything that I can set up?
are there any third party applications for this?
Also is this possible with email?
I know that a messaging group can be set up on the domain but how would I do it for a device.
thank you.

Redirect incoming SMS to a specific subfolder

Hi,
di you know if it is possible to create Rules (like Rules and Alert on Outlook 2003 for example), that redirect incoming SMS (or mail, MMS etc...) to a specific subfolders ?
The idea is to redirect incoming message to a subfolder for each person.
For example, when I receive the acknowledgement of the administrator, the message will be redirected to an "Administrator" subfolders.
etc...
A solution already exists for this ?
Do you know if it is technically possible ?
Thank you !
I'm also interested in automatically redirected SMSs. I hope this thread will become active again!
hypest
Me too ....
I was organising messages into sub folders until I found out that PocketCM doesn't show the threaded SMS that are stored in folders other than inbox/outbox
i too wish to have that feature on my phone.. it takes ages to sort things out..
dont care about if pocketcm will show it or not..
You could try something like smssecurity which allows you to define rules and handles the selected messages in a sepearte program.
I've used button mapping to open smssecurity with 2 presses of my internet button, so it's no harder than chaging folders within the main sms folder
It also allows you to password protect your messages

[Q] Contact groups

I've made a group of contacts in the people app. I want to send a text message to all those people, but I can't add the group in the recipient box in the messages app. What's the purpose of having contact groups if you can't send anything to the whole group at once? i'm using CM10. I know handcent sms has this feature, but that app is ugly as hell. Is it possible to do this in the native messages app?
Try go sms.

Send text to a group

Hi, just got my Nexus 4 but I can't work out how to send a text to a group? Am I missing something? I used to be able to do this in my old Symbian phone.
I can add contacts individually but text type changes to MMS which costs extra so I don't want to do that and the group I created doesn't show up in the messaging screen. I set up a group with 21 contacts so I'd rather be able to add the group than individually add them each time and send it as a SMS.
Group messaging works as a MMS - you can turn that off and it will send out 21 SMS messages which isn't group messaging. Go into the settings screen and turn off Group Messaging.
You can not send to a group with the normal SMS app, maybe Handsent or GoSMS can do that.
