Phone has random reboots on every AOSP ROMs. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I have some experience in custom ROMing, becouse I many times installed custom ROMs, and other mods on my Asus Transformer TF300T. There is more difficult to install something, than on LG G2.
So I tried install recovery and ROMs, on my G2 (D802 International). I rooted phone and installed recovery after update to V10E. It was TWRP 2.6.3.2. Of corse I updated TWRP to ver. 2.6.3.3 via zip install. It was easy. My first ROM was Cyanogenmod 10.2 Stable, cause I had wanted stable and clean ROM. I entered full wipe in TWRP (without internal storage), and installed ROM. Cyanogen was working perfectly, after 10 minutes I installed Gapps and restored my apps in Titanium Backup. I was very happy, that I could use CM10.2 Stable. Then problems were begun. 5 random reboots in 10 minutes, when screen was off. I was so shocked. Ok, Rayglobe had been to large, to fast download, so I downloaded Paranoid 4.0. There were the same problems. I was more shocked than before. Next day I installed Rayglobe 3.2. It works perfectly - no random reboots. 2 days ago I tried to install AOSP one more time. It was Cyanogenmod 11. I installed this succesfull, and restored apps from Titanium Backup. It worked perfectyl... for 2 hours, cause then random reboots started... I restored Rayglobe from TWRP, and once again everything were working perfectly. Yesterday I tried Paranoid from 13 January 2014. There were more problems... 10 random reboots in the morning in 15 minutes, after perfectly work at night. But there isn't finish of problems... TWRP doesn't see ROM backup . I tried make another backup, to check does everything work. There was an error, strange error. TWRP doesn't see Internal Storage in restore and backup menu. Happily I succesfully installed Rayglobe from zip file.
I don't know what is wrong, for me this problems are very very strange .I have no idea.
Does anyone can help me?

Some of these custom ROM's have the voltage reduced. Try bumping it up 25 or 50 points and see if you stabilize.

Check your PVS bin before changing voltage but I too assume that's the problem. Your device is most likely lower binned (it's not unusual - mine is bin 2)

If adjusting the voltage doesn't work, wipe and reinstall again. Verify that you are using the correct gapps for 4.4. Also, reinstall your apps from titanium back will cause issues. It's best to install the apps from the play store and then restore the data from TI. But, there maybe some issue with TI and android 4.4 (sorry, I can't find the link where this was discussed).
Also, I'd make a nandriod after each step. Wipe/reinstall, verify everything works, nandriod. Install the 4.4 version of gapps, verified it works, nandriod. This way if something isn't working correctly, it'll be easier to go back.

As info, you cannot use the same gapps package for CM10.2 as you would for CM11. The same goes for the PA builds. Some are 4.4.0, 4.4.1, & the latest are 4.4.2. Each will have issues if you're not flashing the correct version of gapps. I recommend installing whatever gapps package is linked in your ROM OP.

It's good idea to change volta6ge. Will I be able to do this via performance settings? I overclocked CPU's on many devices, but I have never customised voltage, cause I didn't need it.
@vPro97, where can I check PVS bin? Is it related with my hardware?
@Jank4AU, I used correct Gaaps . Other package for Cyanogenmod 10.2, and other for Paranoid, and another for CM11. I always use Gapps recomended by ROM's OP.

@Hazard17 ya its completely hardware related and nothing to worry about - you just have to adjust your rom to match it .

@Jank4AU I have a problem. I don't have any option to change voltage of CPU. I tried do this in Trickster Mod & SetCPU.
I'm going to install Pure Performance Mod. Maybe I will be able to change voltage on that kernel :/.

No, it didn't change anything. I suppose that Cyanogenmod's kernel is locked .

I have a random reboot issue with ANY Kitkat rom. I have tried numerous roms and they all give me random reboots. I am talking like rebooting every 15-20 minutes nonstop. I went back to my stock nandroid backup to see if maybe there was an issue there. On stock it works perfectly fine. No reboots at all. I wipe everything accept internal storage when installing any rom. I have tried using trickster to change voltages. No help. Can anyone tell me what else I should try? This is driving me crazy.

It is impossible to change voltages in Trickster on stock Cyanogen kernel . I fix my problem, of course another users helped me, so much .
Speciall thans to @Jank4AU & @vPro97 . I wouldn't get working Cyan without You .

Have you tried other roms besides CM. I have this issue with all roms besides stock. Currently I just reinstalled PA about 2 hours ago. I have not installed any apps or made any changes at all and have not had a reboot yet. I'll see how it goes. But it seems that any time I install anything is when I start getting reboots every 15-20 minutes. The last time I installed PA, the only apps I had were Tasker, Root Explorer and GSAM.

I installed PA 2 days before. There I had reboots without modyfing system. I had firs reboot after about 2 - 3 hours.

CM is quite unstable. 3 reboots daily is quite normal after reading around =/

Try to install OC kernel, and set CPU voltage to +25 in Trickster.

Installation:

2.4.6-1917 is an updated version of the rom. If fixes and updates a few things.
The market error is expected. Tell me if you manage to fix it. We are trying really hard to fix it on this end.

I just tried to download the fix zip but couldn't, i have tried it 3 times already but still get cannot open zip as archive error.
But the main rom is working, just flashed it about an hour ago.
Installation is great experience because of the Aroma installer, Congratulations on implementing that. I also want to do it in the rom but i have no idea how to do that, will have to do lot of reading.
Bootanimation looks good in Orange colour.
Also good thinking on QQ launcher, same Miui experience with an App drawer.
All required things are working quite well. Except the Market but it is obviously a known issue. Also i had previously mentioned using Market Enabler for getting around the Server Error issue, it doesn't work sorry for that, i will edit my post now.
Also turning off the icon shadow in launcher settings gives more smooth scrolling if you have lot of apps.
No major issues faced, will let you know in due time.

Thanks...I was asking more to see if I could help, not to bug for an ETA.
Not sure if anyone else has seen this problem, but I'm unable to install Titanium Backup. Error comes up mid install and says that there is not enough free space. However, this is on a FRESH install (wiped everything) and is the first app I tried to install. Any other apps - even WAY bigger apps - don't have any problems installing.

Try getting a different version and install that. Or reboot and try to install? some of those problems are hard to do because they dont reproduce very well.
And I have absoulutely NO idea whats causing the market problem. I spent almost 2 hours last night going through the /system folder and changing my vending/phonesky.apk and my fingerprint. still a server error. Its probably the first on our list for fixing.
I've also uploaded the second zip again, now just pick the one with the highest number. It's a no-wipe if coming from any previous captivate versions of MyUI. (seeing as there's only one, but more to come.)

Now I am going to introduce it's 2nd version. In looks, both are identical but you can feel the difference while handling. I have used a lot of ROMs from here and I really loved each of them, but mostly I found my phone buggy after using them for more than a week. I actually stopped working on ROM due to my exams but I have to make one for myself. Which must be stable, fast without OC, smooth like butter and beautiful. So I am introducing another version of my work ElegantPerformer V2 by Adwait.

How to install :
Boot in recovery CWM 5
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Advanced>>Wipe dalvik cache
Choose 'Install zip from sd card'

Reboot after the flashing completes. 1st reboot may take 3-4 minutes. After 1st reboot and setting account, 2nd boot is recommended.

Few words from me:
I tried my best to keep the ROM away from bugs. Only one thing you may need to do is updating superuser binary. It will update by itself, just allow it to do so.I hope you like this ROM. Those who are already satisfied with your current ROM, just make a backup of the current ROM and then TRY this ROM. I am sure you will love this! Let me know if you find any trouble using it. Dude, when you release a different version of the SAME rom it HAS TO BE ON THE SAME THREAD.

Hey dude, It's look wise same But if the main source is itself changed then I think starting new thread is best choice. I know the rules but my 1st version was based on vo-1's odexed and this one is based on CM7.2's original nightly published on 1/1/2013. So I have to make a new thread! And I think I should! what say?
Edit: And also the Fire Kernel used in this ROM is OC. In v1 it was not an OC.

Nope.
It should still be an update to the other thread.
As long as your rom has the same name you cant create a new thread. Be it a change in kernel or base rom itself

Yes! but it will be a partial support. It will not render font 100% but it can be read.

Is that mandatory? I never used it. And to keep this ROM lightweight I have to skip additions which can be added later. I am glad you would like to try this ROM. I will wait to get feedback from your side!

Of course you don't HAVE to use AdrenalineEngine, I just never had the feeling that it would do any damage to integrate it
1) On first boot I could not enter my PIN, all I could do was take out the battery and restart.
2) With every restart I get an error-message, something about bluetooth (I don't know if this important, I don't think it has any effect on the rest of the phone)
3) Whenever I want to go into the synchronisation-settings (I hope thats what its called in english) the phone reboots. (I think this might be a CM 7.2 Nightly error, and not your fault )
For now I have the feeling that it runs very smooth, and I like the way it looks.
Will test it for a few more days and maybe stick to it

Hello,
Did you cleared cache, dlavik cache 1st? After your reply I am going to test my ROM again but the errors you mentioned are completly new! They shouldn't be there. And I flashed my ROM almost 6 times during testing. So please make sure you have CWM5 or more, all data wiped, cache wiped, dalvik cache wiped!
Edit:
I just successfully flashed ROM. No error message about Bluetooth or anything found! Safely navigated through each part of settings without any reboot. USB tethering also works fine!
So I strongly recommend you to follow these steps:
Boot in recovery CWM 5
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Advanced>>Wipe dalvik cache
Choose 'Install zip from sd card'
Choose the file 'ElegantPerformer_V2_By_Adwait.zip '

Of course, CWM5 and did exactly as you said in your first post. Never had these problems before, but since your ROM is based on such a new version of CM7, I think it might be because of that. But I don't know, I'm not a developer or anything

Hi thanks for the ROM it looks nice may I ask you if theres any chance of you making another version with PSN's Memory MOD..? I find it much more stable and better than using S2E or link2SD or almost anything else.. Thanks in advance.

4 - Flash the rom &/or whatever mods you wanna flash, but not GAPPS.
5 - Reboot to the rom, choose your language.
6 - Reboot to recovery again, flash gapps.
7 - Reboot & enjoy a kick ass release!
Gapps need to be installed separately from the rom.

Just a warning for anyone that wants to use this ROM with Polish language, upon choosing it you will end up with endless com.android.systemui FC and there is no fix for that.

Broken GPS
Anyone having issues with GPS after flashing this rom?

There seems to be some people mentioning that either takes a while to lock or doesn't work at all. I don't think much testing was done anyway.
However if someone is still using the rom could give as an answer. If it's a matter of taking a while to lock, I would ask them to try an app to help with GPS locking (like GPS Status or alike).
It would be very much appreciated

Mine will only lock if outside. indoors it will not work. Not even with the wifi on.

You're using stock kernel right? Could you try another kernel (AOSP) and see if the issue persists?
Anyway, I had some issues with other roms where I had to be outside to lock it, not sure if having wifi on helps the GPS lock, helping with accuracy I get it, but not sure about locking.

So the results are the same even with a custom kernel right?
Then it's a rom issue.
I'm gonna post on miuiandroid forums about it, but keep in might this is a first release, it's a long way until it's perfect and they probably have other priorities

FINALLY I found a thread for this! Searching for it and Google-ing it failed me (how odd).
Anyway, I'm rather stumped. I was either browsing the Internet or on Google+ (same diff) when all of a sudden the device rebooted on me and went into the recovery.
Can't get the log unfortunately because every single time I boot into the OS, it restarts back into recovery not a minute after. I can't even get past the setup screen after doing a Factory Reset.
The TWRP log mentions something about an "Open Recovery Script" or something and shows an MIUI zip file, so... I'm guessing it's trying to forcefully update MIUI? And yet, there's absolutely zero indication on the UI end of this, it just wipes the screen and says "Rebooting" with a Jelly Bean Android.

I have that problem to. Its trying to force update itself but continuously fails. I am going to try to flash the entire ROM update and hopefully that will fix the problem

1: DL the new OTA from here: http://en.miui.com/download-213.html
2. Flash it in the "advanced utilities" section of Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389107), let it boot
3. Realize you lost root and TWRP (and check out the cool Miui calendar app before it's too late!)
4. Hook it back up to your computer and root+reflash TWRP with Wug's NRT
5. While you're in TWRP to flash the supersu file, go ahead and flash your gApps package
6. Be bummed that every gApps package replaces Miui's slick calendar app

I got a better one:
1) DL the new OTA
2) Flash it using Wug's tool, or restore a backup of a different ROM you have in TWRP
2a) If you restored backup, transfer over MIUI OTA & flash with TWRP
4) Flash any SuperSU zip (or confirm when TWRP asks you if you want to root after flashing the ROM), install MultiROM and update to the latest TWRP with MultiROM capabilities
5) Flash Core GApps which only includes the Play Store and Google Play services, so you get to keep the MIUI apps.
6) Enjoy

In my opion I would avoid OTA update for now. As we know these are the first releases for flo with a totally new interface which probably brings changes under the hood. Either dirty install or clean install (I always go for a clean install, after all a weekly release ain't that bad, think of all those daily nightlies )
Update: OP updated. If someone is using today's version, you can post your experience, differences (if you notice any) with the previous version (either cosmetically / UI or any other changes you notice).
Also, are themes supported already or not yet?

RIL seems to have some issues... on EVERY boot I got locked out from my SIM, requesting PUK CODE to unlock and set a new pin... so be careful.
I'm going to switch off pin code request.
KEYBOARD NOT WORKING ON FIRST BOOT... I'd to activate it on settings (not a problem)

Yes It will be having those issues... and yeah i understand your issue Especially if you have a sim code lock on your phone it might get a puk code so please dont try it with a pin code...
as for the reboot issue i dont understand it, i got the phone to run used it for half hour i got lucky but after that it rebooted again but for the time being it was really fast smooth and Project Volta FTW (Y)

It boots ! Just wait the long boot process... it's because of ART ! It's slower on first boot!

This Rom Boot, Only it takes a little while... You need to Wait for Some Mins... It's Due to ART...

The rom is ****ing awesome. As it's the first build, I'm really impressed of it.
Runs smooth, only the dialer app seems laggy.
Camera doesn't work neither with third party, so it's something hal related. (I tried Snap Camera and Google Camera... "impossible to connect camera".)
EXTERNAL SD is not mounting.
Here an early benchmark:

Weird issue: if you enable on developer settings "quick boot mode", the shutdown menu doesn't work

Well That Means Some Hal Related Issue is There, and Well Good To Know There are minor Quinks to be fixed and it would become Soon Usable for Many People Great... and i personally thank you for testing this properly... i'll try to get all these errors notified to Nameless team if i can so that their next bulild on their original thread would be a much greater one

Uhh did you have the latest twrp? Did you have stock touchwiz 4.4.2? and if you were on any other rom did you at first wipe everything before flashing this rom?

I'm sorry, My mistake. I'm on carbonrom and With cwm recovery.

Wipe System, Cache, Dalvik and data of rom.... I Tried with TWRP so twrp would be a better choice for flashing the 5.0 rom... follow the instructions from the OP

This ROM is amazing I use this ROM in my s5.
U can port this ROM for one plus x bcoz I have also a one plus x or give guide for port to this ROM for one plus x

@sh3nd0 Look do a fresh start. Flash a stock rom , flash philz recovery and flash supersu.zip , then reboot install supersu from play store. Boot into recovery and flash the rom it should work

Hi brother Soufiansky .. I couldn't flash this ROM without having issues so I tried using the S5 Revolution v5.3 and it flashed with no issues and without even flashing any kernels. I'm running it on my phone atm. Maybe I will just wait for the new update and try to flash it again. I really don't know why it does that but works on Revolution v5.3.

Ahh maybe, I just hope it's a bad download, I also feel that it's something to do with my phone. Like it's weird that I can't root it even though how many times I tried, (this will will become off topic so i'll stop) Yeah I'll just wait for the 6.5 Btw, can I PM you and ask you something?

Ohh this is not the thread I was following earlier .. Anyway, I'm so confused about this G900L and G900F flashing. Like I have both devices and some other ROMs works on the other which won't work on the other. On my G900L, the issue is I reflashed stock latest firmware, then root CF root and TWRP 3.0.0.0 which is everyone good, but then flashing Revolution v5.3 and Tesltra won't let me boot because of kernel Issue so I need to flash hispasian kernel v7 to make it work but then the issue will be no Wifi. so I flashed Wifi Fix to fix the issue. Now, with Revolution 5.3, the camera won't turn on and just says Camera failed. I already wipe everything and also in camera settings i also wiped still the same. Now on Telstra, the issue is sometimes the Camera just turns black with the UI above and below, I need to reboot the phone or wait for couple of mins or hours to make it work again. I already tried reflashing several times and wiping but the issue persist. I don't know what I did wrong. I followed everything correctly and downloaded the files correctly.

Yeah for the camera there is a flashable .zip to fix it , you know G900L always have issues because it does not have a kernel to boot 5.1.1 roms , a guy this week came to me with the same issue , so its not just you all korean S5 suffers from this

Yeah that would really work, I just have to find that flashable zip.. I already found the wifi fix, if only I could get the fix for camera then it will all be good for the 900L , for now I'm on stock firmware on my 900L because the camera bug is really annoying and I can't capture on the spot moments because sometimes I have to restart my phone just to take a picture..

I found the Hespasian Kernel v7 with CameraLibs fix but it won't boot the ROM. Error says It couldn't BOOT. XD so maybe that camera lib fix is only for the other variant except Korean variants.

I guess I have to use my G900F then.. Though I don't quiet get it on why the DarthRom won't boot on my device but the Revolution ROM works well.
