Hello,
So I noticed I haven't had 4G in awhile, (at least 4-5 days). I looked in Netwrok Mode and Global was selected so I've tried putting it back to LTE/CDMA and no luck.
Any ideas? My co workers with Verizon have 4G right now so I know its not a data outage. Under Netweork type and strength, 4G is also not present there.
This is a stock phone.
UPDATE : SOLVED
Pulled the SIM and bam all 4Gizzles!

I am having a strange problem with the connection speed on my inspire 4g. it is always in G or in E, never in H (this refers to the symbols displayed in the info bar, corresponding to Edge, G2 and High Speed respectively). It has nothing to do with my sim (i have put it in another phone, went into H no problems) and it has nothing to do with the network (my friend's cheapo HTC Hero is on H all the time).
I am outside the US. The phone is a HTC inspire 4g, which i bought new and decoded. Here are the steps i have been through:
- I have rooted the phone and initially installed Inspired 4G ROM; This has not solved the problem;
- I have then wiped it and made a clean install with LeeDroid ROM 2.2.3; this has also not solved the problem;
- i have flashed the radio with Radio_12.28g.60.140f_26.05.05.27_M2; still the problem continues
I am running out of ideas, why would such a smart phone not connect to a readily available High speed network?
By The way, i have dialed *#*#4636#*#* - i have tried to set the preferred network type to both WCDMA preferred and various other GPS/CDMA auto PRL, etc - no change. the phone info in this menu shows "network type:GPRS". in my friend's HERO (again same network, same place, same provider, same sim card), if i enter this menu, it says "Network type:HSDPA"
Any ideas? What's going on here?
Did it work prior to updating rom? If not, the carrier that you are using may not be on the 2100mhz/900mhz high speed bands that the dhd uses. I made this mistake and purchased a dhd without checking and I'm stuck with gprs/edge, mainly using 850mhz 2g not 3g ... until I change to a carrier that use 2100mhz/900mhz or upgrade to another phone

Did you mange to sort this out? I have a similar problem with DHD. It seems to be stuck on G. When I first installed lee droid ROM it was working fine and I got H appearing and fast download speeds ( used traffic monitor to prove the speeds) all of a sudden it seems to be stuck on the G icon.
I have has this issue for a while, i have checked all the setting on the phone (*#*#4636#*#* and connection settings). I thought it could have been my sim, I tested my mates sim on my phone( same network). when I put my sim back it I got the H network again. This only lasted for a few days and it has now gone again.
I have done tests using traffic monitor I only get speeds between 21 Kbit/s on the mobile network. In my archive I can see when I was connected to the H network , I was downloading 289 Kbit/s.
I have not flashed the radio yet as im not sure which one I should be using but surely it cant the radio as it was working on the H network twice.
I am running lee droid 2.6.35.14 Ace 3.2.1
band base version: 12.28b.60.140eu_ 26.03.02.26_M
Any ideas why this is happening?
I have that same issue STUCK ON EDGE
I need to revive this thread. I used ace hack kit released oct.27 and hack went perfect. I installed ARHD 6.1.3 and i couldnt get on H and also the rom itself was unresponsive and would do all kinds of crazy things. I downgraded to 6.1.1 which i had put on my brothers phone and worked great but exact same issue on the new one here. So then I tried old faithful ARHD 5.1.11 and the rom works perfect but im still stuck on edge network. I get full signal almost all the time in a 4G area but only get edge. Im set on GSM/WCDMA auto, I tried to go WCDMA only and i lost all signal and it switched itself back to auto. Im totally outta ideas. Im in canada, could it be that this phone is the Euro DHD? How can I check?

December 2011 to Late June 2011
Phone is working great. It was initially rooted with Visionary+, then with the gfree method. I've tired lots of different ROMS and kernels. I get 3-4 bars consistently at my house, and I get 4-5mb downloads.
Late June 2011 to Late July 2011
Annual, four-week trip to visit the in-laws in Sweden. My T-Mobile SIM card worked while roaming (and have data turned off), Wi-Fi calling works great. Phone is unlocked, so I used both our PAYG phone SIM card (through Telenor) as well as a PAYG data SIM card (through Telia). Both worked great.
However, closer towards the end of the trip, I noticed that whenever I had my T-Mobile SIM card installed, it wouldn't pick up a roaming signal (only wifi), and Wi-Fi calling was iffy at best even next to the wireless router. However, the PAYG data SIM card worked great throughout the whole trip, so I didn't think much about it.
On the final day in Stockholm, I realized that I left my T-Mobile SIM card back at the in-laws house. I would just get a new one when I get back.
Present Day
On Wednesday (7/27), I go to the T-Mobile store, and I get a new SIM card. I turn the phone on, I receive a few text messages immediately, deem it good and leave. However, while driving home, I notice that I can't make any phone calls. That is because I have 0 bars (but it is not x'd out). I also have zero indication of data (not even E).
When I rebooted the phone, I will get 1 bar starting out (and I can receive text messages during that time), but then it drops back to 0 bars after about a minute. As soon as I got home, it picked up the wi-fi signal, enabled wi-fi calling, and I got the "Welcome to T-Mobile" text message (since I got a new SIM card). I turned off wi-fi, rebooted countless times, and I got 0 bars every time. Troubleshooting with T-Mobile didn't lead to better results (one suggestion was to switch to EDGE-only connection--it worked for a while, but eventually stopped). Eventually, the wi-fi stopped working, too (even after rebooting the wireless router, and while other computers were using it just fine).
Yesterday (7/28), I eventually find some time to go back to the T-Mobile store and ask for another SIM card. This time, I hang out for a few minutes. I actually get 4 bars and a 4G signal--for a while. It drops back down to 0 bars. The employee taps around for a while. One interesting thing he found was that the option to "use 2G networks only" is always checked every time you to the Mobile Networks setting page--even after you uncheck the option and exit. I tell the employee I will reinstall the ROM, kernel, and radio. Those solutions help maintain a signal for a while, but it doesn't fix it.
This morning (7/29), I have been trying out different radios. I have tried out 2.09.1800.1, but it provided the same results (1-2 bars consistently when I have been getting 3-4 bars before). Now I'm on the stock radio (1.17.531.2). It seems to work okay, but it seems to drop to 0 bars every once in a while. It has also been very difficult to get a 4G signal. If I get a 4G signal, it drops to 0 bars; if it switches to EDGE, I get 4 bars.
Conclusions
I have a feeling that my phone is slowly failing. Are there any other tips I can try?
Thanks in advance, and thanks for reading.
Just call for a replacement

I'm just realizing that I only get 4G after I start hands free activation but once it reboots from that I'm back on 3g. This is my second Galaxy S4 btw. My first one went down due to water damage. I received another one a few days ago and just realized yesterday that I didn't have 4G anywhere and with my first phone I had 4G everywhere in my area.
So what do I need to do to get my 4G back?

Call Sprint, and ask them to create a 'network ticket' about this. The actual network support folks will call you back and confirm whether you really have 4G service at your location or not.
I had a similar same issue - sprint.com/coverage showed me that I had full LTE coverage at my residence. But my phone wouldn't connect. Called Sprint tech support, and they did a complete profile reset for my phone - and it did the handsfree activation, and I had 4G service - and then, the phone rebooted, and it went back to 3G. Customer service insisted that I had 4G enabled towers in my area, so they even changed my MDL - again, had 4G service, and after reboot, it went back to 3G. They then created a network ticket.
2 days later, network support called me, and in 2 minutes, told me that while there were 4G enabled towers in my area, the tower closest to my location was NOT LTE enabled, and so my phone would always stay connected to 3g when I was at home or nearby(till that tower was upgraded).
Yes, it is false advertising in my opinion, but it is what it is.
If your previous phone had full LTE coverage though, maybe a network profile reset will fix it. Perform a profile/PRL update first from your phone, and if that doesn't work, call *4 and see if they can send the updates to your phone. Who knows - maybe you just have a LTE network outage at your location
I had this weird problem where mobile data stopped working on my Note 3. The last time it worked was Saturday evening and when I got home, got on wi-fi. This morning, I left the house and I got just the bars without the usual H+ along with it. Phone status said that the network state was disconnected. However, calls worked fine. I tried to troubleshoot with the ATT rep, tried re-registering my number multiple times to no avail. Then, I went into network mode and switched it to "WCDMA/GSM auto" from the default "LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto", and data works again. Since I always had the phone on "LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto" and I know I didn't do any system updates lately, some recent change in the ATT network was probably not playing nice with that network mode. Has anyone with the int'l Note 3 on the ATT network had this problem?
Alright, I've tried searching the forum but with over 100 pages I've given up. I have a Galaxy S4 L720 (non-triband) that I've activated with Freedompop and am getting 3g data with. Freedompop has LTE and I'm in Irvine, CA which has a strong LTE according to the Sprint map (as well as Spark). From my understanding, there are no outages in my area. I cannot for the life of my get LTE on my phone. Here's what I've tried.
1. Updated Profile and PRL.
2. Factory reset.
3. Factory reset from dialer code ##786#
4. Using dialer code ##56# to change settings to LTE only mode. With this I get no signal at all.
5. Removing the proxy by changing settings to 0.0.0.0 and port 0.
6. Removing the battery and sim card.
I did flash the official Cyanogenmod before activation but I went back to stock before I activated on Freedompop. I bought the phone used with a clean ESN. At this point I'm probably going to give up and return the phone. If there's something I haven't tried yet please let me know.
Have you figured out the solution to your problem?

Check in mobile networks in the settings and see if your preferred network mode is set to CDMA/LTE/EVDO
