Stuck on TWRP - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi forum
I'm stock in TWRP after I flashed the SlimKat OS for the D802 on a too old recovery.
So I'm moving forward with ADB pushing a newer recovery.zip onto my phone but this is where I'm stuck. Although the command is very simple Windows 8 isnt recognizing the G2 even through I've installed root from this PC.
I guess my question is does anyone have a link for the very lg G2 driver when in TWRP mode? Apprently it's not the same as the one you use to root etc.
A million thanks for saving my day!

I found out I need to force Windows to recognize the driver as a LGE ADB device. Now I can push the file but I can't locate the file. What am I doing wrong?
adb push recovery.zip /sdcard/
The file is copied but I can't locate it on sdcard?

Haha I end up fixing my own issue. I just forgot to mount the DATA folder

Aaaannnd it worked. Thanks for looking either way

Any way to sideload

I recently rooted my phone. I have not installed any ROMs because i love the stock rom so much but i decided to try one today. I didnt have my computer with me so i downloaded one today and rebooted into recovery. I saved my current rom and then wiped and accidently pressed Data, it asks if i want to wipe everything and i press back. I go to look at my downloads and they are all gone. I look for my backup i had JUST nandroid backed up and it was gone.
So there i am stuck. There is a thread for returning to Stock rom. Sure ok, but its a long process including the 2 gig download which is only uploading at 260mbit/s so another hour or 2.
I have tried sideloading a rom but it fails.
Any suggestions on how to get a rom onto the phone without booting it? I dont have a micro usb to sd card or i would have done that already =/
You need adb on the pc, connect, then in terminal or cmd
Code:
adb push ROM.zip /sdcard
Copying the zip to the folder with adb makes it easier and the above command correct, (of course replace ROM.zip with the actual name).

via sideload or no?
No. Sideload could work, I don't remember the command off hand.
Adb push copies it to the internal memory then you flash through the menu normal.

I gave you thanks.
That seems to work. For anyone that gets into this situation where there are no roms in your phone and you have no way to transfer them. Boot into TWRP, do not use sideload. Just main screen. Device manager will show to be just "g2" and you need the driver. In the driver folder from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48709232&postcount=869 driver section, update driver and browse to 64BitADB and choose androidandadb. It will then give you a list of options starting with Testing drivers, one that dates back to 2010 and another thats 2012. You want the one thats 2nd from the bottom called LG G2 verizon net adb or something like that. Works perfect and connects to adb.
If anyone truely needs this process i can break it down to specifics on how to get it to work. Thanks so much for your help fr4nk1yn!

[Q] Bootloop, can't transfer files

Hi guys,
I hope somebody can help me with my LG G2.
I was on the Cyanogenmod 11 M7 build and I flashed a remote control app via recovery. After that the phone doesn't boot anymore it's stuck at the cyanogenmod animation. So I would like to wipe and install cyanogenmod again but here is the problem. I don't have the CM11 file om my phone.
I booted to TWRP v.2.7.0.0 and tried to mount USB-OTG: E: Unable to mount '/usb-otg'
I tried ADB Sideload: Starting ADB sideload feature... then I opened the cmd (with admin rights) at my adb-tools at my PC (Windows 8.1). The command "adb devices" says: List of devices attached Thats it, no devices listed. Don't know what to do. How to transfer items from/to the phone. I think I have the newest drivers.
Edit: Manualy I chose the LGE ADB driver in the device manager after that there is a device listed in cmd. But if I try to do something like adb reboot recovery or adb push c:\xyz.zip it tells me error: closed
I would appreciate your help

have you tried mounting the system and then using twrp file manager looking for the stuff that got installed in the zip you flashed and deleting them?

Thanks, didn't try that, but found another solution. Problem was with the two adb-tools I used. After installing the whole sdk it worked.
So Problem solved, thanks

Wiped with no ROM on Internal storage

I have done this about 4 or 5 times before. I wipe the entire phone instead of just data and cache. Now I have nothing on the internal storage to install and the ROM is wiped. Heres what I have so far.
I downloaded ioroot10 to run adb. The driver seems to be the biggest issue. I can "adb reboot recovery" and I can also "adb sideload ROM.zip" but nothing happens.
Also, if I wipe the phone entirely, windows will pull up the internal storage. I can see twrp folder and such. I can even transfer small files, but when I try to transfer the ROM it says it is too large even though windows indicates it is 25g
Once before I had the correct driver installed that allowed me to sideload to TWRP and I could go into file explorer and see the file pop up, indicating it was transferring successfully. Waited about 20 minutes for it to finish and I was golden.
This time I am at a loss. Its been close to a year since I have recovered this phone and I cant seem to push the ROM to the phone.
Any help would be appreciated. The driver seems to be the biggest issue and running the LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.14.1 does not install the driver. I am forced to search for the driver. I have tried most and some will allow the phone to force reboot recovery and others will install and do nothing.
Some drivers:
adb sideload ROM.zip - error: cancel
Anyone have the exact driver I need for the phone that would be awesome.
Thanks for your time.

uswd the adb testing interface driver then it began transferring on first try
thanks again
If you have TWRP 2.8.4.0 installed, you can boot to recovery, then Mount -> Enable MTP and transfer files to the phone via USB connection to the computer.

ADB Pull - Not pulling recursively

Hi guys,
I'm helping a friend pull data from their phone that is bootlooping, but they wanted to get data off their phone first. I'm having a hell of a time trying to use ADB Pull to pull everything in /sdcard/ (or /data/media/0).
It seems when I run a test command say on /sdcard/Download/ it will only pull the folders and skip all the files below.
What the heck am I doing wrong? I thought the command would simply be: adb pull /sdcard/ C:\GS4
It ends up just copying the first Android folder with the .folders and stops. I have no idea why it is acting this way.
I'm not familiar with adb, but is there maybe some line command line that would specify that you want the whole folder?

Did you give adb permisision when booted fully into android? If not, then it's a waste of time what you are trying to do.
What you could do is flash TWRP and use the build in Aroma file manager to transfer the files that you want.
Yes currently the phone is running twrp 2.5. Im wondering if its an issue with an older version.
Im trying to figure out how to flash a newer version of twrp. Im only familiar with nexus devices so i have to figure out how flash in another version of twrp on this att samsung gs4.
Usually i just need to go into bootloader and fastboot recovery but there seems to be a lot of gs4 variants.
Edit also the phone isnt booting into the system so im attempting to pull while its in twrp recovery. Since i can still adb to it.
Okay, good news everyone. I manage to get TWRP updated to 3.0 by using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal.../jdcteam-twrp-touch-recovery-3-0-0-0-t3312115
Since the TWRP 2.5 was functioning properly, I was able to ADB push the zip file over and flash the new TWRP 3.0. The great thing about 3.0 it seems is that it will mount as MTP if you have it in recovery mode and connected to Windows. So now I don't even have to do adb pull anymore, a simple drag and drop will do.

One Plus 5. No OS issue.

So i am having a issue with my oneplus 5 and hope someone could help me out
So i have ended up wiping the entry phone in recovery, getting rid of all the internal data, including sdcard & operating system. At the moment the only thing i can get access to is fastboot & TWRP. I am trying to sideload or push a rom zip to the phone, but all i keep getting is the below:
adb sideload "Zip folder name and extension".
loading "zip"
cannot read "zip"
or i get an error that just says "Closed.
Now i have update to the latest drivers and adb and when i type "adb devices" my phone is showing...
I have also flashed the oneplus 5 recovery via fastboot, however when i go on to adb sideload, the phone doesnt show in CMD.
any help here will be appricated, as i am out of ideas.
Thanks in advance.
Make the file names shorter.
Alternatively, you should be able to use a flash drive through OTG and install the stuff from it.

Unfortunately, OTG isnt a selectable option and i have also tried shorting the file a names but still no look.
Thank you for the input
Use another recovery. OTG should be there, I know somebody that flashed ROMs this way.

Two things I'd try:
1. Change your directory to the one containing the zip file so the command ONLY has the filename.zip in it
2. Download the zip file again and make sure you do a md5sum check on it just in case its corrupted.
Try this:
- Boot your phone in TWRP
- Open cmd.exe on your PC
- Type adb devices (if everything is ok, it should show some numbers followed by the write "recovery")
- Move your ROM inside a folder on your PC and rename it "Rom.zip" (ie inside the folder "download")
- Using CMD.exe, move inside that folder typing "cd C:/...."
- Type "adb push Rom.zip /sdcard"
- Wait til a confirmation message will appear on CMD.exe
- Flash the ROM using TWRP
So for future reference to anyone that might have the same issue.
I fixed this issue, by flashing a older version of TWRP. This allowed me to use ADB sideload without issue & also allow OTG_USB. It also allowed me to flash files with long names.... I have tried to go back to the latest version of TWRP for OP5 but i get the errors i was getting before.
Strange, but did the fix.
Thanks all for the help & input.
