The same thing happens to me. I'm able to use my galaxy tablet but when ever I connect my ps3 it just won't work. Also I've noticed that with my computer some websites work and some don't.

I am trying to find out if, when the USB is 100% functional, will i be able to get an adapter for a Ethernet toUSB and get internet working through that Ethernet cable. Thank you

Are you serious?
It would be better to just buy a NEW wireless router than all that adapter stuff

Why would someone want to do that?

Doubt it would be possible since wouldn't there need to be drivers for the adapter built into Android?

I think that's a fair question, some hotels don't have wireless internet in the rooms just the lobby

I wanted to know because some places in European hotels don't have wifi but they have Ethernert cables... I really hoped it would work

why all the disbelief?
The G-tab has a dock available with an Ethernet port, and it is functional. However people have also tried a usb to ethernet adapter and that didn't go as well thread
If you get a dev who sees a demand or needs this personally for some reason then I wouldn't be surprised if it gets made.
we use ethernet-to-usb dongles at my work when we don't yet have wifi working on our tablets. I don't work at motorola, so I can't say anything about the xoom in particular, but I don't think we made any modifications to our tablets to get this to work. So, in other words, yes. It should work.
It is a fair question but unfortunately the answer is maybe for a custom ROM but probably not for stock. The problem, as mentioned earlier, is that support would need to be built into the kernel and it is not something most people would need with the xoom. The main reason I can think of would be to sniff a wired network for troubleshooting and such.
My suggestion would be to pick up one of the ultraportable waps like the d-link dap 1350. (Not an endorsement, just a likely suspect that came up in a Google for portable wireless access point.)

Since you'd have to carry the dongle with you anyway, it may be a good bit easier to pick up a portable wireless router. They make them VERY small and it would (in theory) sove the problem without tying you to a cable.

I would use this, it would be great if motorola put that into their docks
Is there a way to start the WiFi tether from my tablet? I have a GNexus that I use and would like to be able to hop on the internet from my tablet without having to fiddle with my phone. Thanks.
Not sure if AutoTether is the solution but you can try.

I'm also interested in this since taking my phone out in the middle of class and turning on tethering would be severely frowned upon...and get my phone confiscated/get me 10+ detentions.
hi, is anyone using freedom pop with their nexus 7? it seems like an easy (and free!) way to get mobile data on the tablet. i guess you would need the little hotspot device, so it's two things to carry and charge.

I actually managed to use the usb stick with an OTG cable. It just worked without any configuring.
Hi all,
I'm currently having some trouble getting my iPhone 3GS and Nexus 7 to play nice with sharing the internet connection from the 3GS to the N7.
The devices seem to pair up ok, and the 3GS is showing that the Personal Hotspot is being shared with 1 Connection, but there isn't any internet activity going through to the N7.
I thought it might have been related to the bluetooth issues in 4.2, but 4.2.2 hasn't made a difference. I've tried any number of tutorials/forums saying to connect things in a particular order or force stopping a service and clearing the cache, but nothing seems to work.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Nexus 7 Settings:
Stock 4.2.2 Unrooted
Connected to device for internet access - checked
Wifi Off
Bluetooth On
iPhone Settings:
iOS 6.1 Not JB
Personal Hotspot turned on
Wifi Off
Bluetooth On
Cheers.
I know what the problem is.

Have given the JB and MyWi route a go. Same story unfortunately.
The N7 and 3GS pair fine and MyWi reports that there is one client connected, but then there's no throughput to the N7 :crying:
Dropped mywi, now using either pdanet or tetherme .
They are both a lot cheaper than mywi and work perfectly, especially setting pdanet to wifitether then as soon as your nexus leaves your main home WiFi it instantly switches to the I phones tether via WiFi not Bluetooth.
Must admit though my 3g usage is getting hammered, luckily I have lots

Trying to tether via Bluetooth, with a DROID RAZR Maxx and the Nexus 7. I have root access on the Maxx, I don't think I'll need it on the Nexus but will if need be. The only successful thing I found that works part of the time is PDAnet+ and the receiving version on my tablet. I don't know if I trust that set up enough to pay to use it though. Free options? I've tried Wireless Tether for root users but haven't found Bluetooth tether access for tablets.

Yup u need the one designated for the s4. I sent u that link as an example of what they are. Personally I would get it from samsung. I've bought 3 that said they work with s4 and they didnt. I have a friend who got the one from Samsung and his works fine.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
a lot of them DO work with the S4 still that are "older" mhl adapters, but you also need the 5 to 11 pin adapter for those to work like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0089...qid=1388224095&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
Otherwise, just get one line what was noted a couple of posts up, as it's already utilizing the 11pins and saves you the trouble. (make sure you're getting a legit one & check the reviews!)
Alternately, you can get the allshare cast hub (by Samsung) which also mirrors via hdmi.
It is also possible without an mhl dongle or allshare cast hub to push things (pics, movies & youtube) directly if you have tv/home theater/blu ray that's dlna enabled to push to.
I've done it from the older mhl w/ 11 pin adapter, newer 11 pin, allshare hub & by dlna enabled device without issue. I mainly use the latter nowawdays, but still use the other methods on occasion because of the screen mirroring.
As a side note, both mhl adapters are OEM.
Its sad I didn't know this thing had HDMI out capabilities
