You can change between list and tab view in the settings app through the menu, but it still won't be exactly like the AOSP settings... Only way to truly get that currently is to flash an AOSP based rom onto your phone.

Owners- how integrated is touchwiz?

Hey,
On the old Touchwiz, it was heavily integrated into the phone, so much so that if you did a home replacement like LauncherPro, it still would give you the weird notification bar, etc. The dialer and contact apps were touchwiz too and couldn't be replaced.
Could one of you guys try launcherpro and tell if it does the replacement right? Or is the phone still separate in the odin images?
Thanks.

LauncherPro doesn't replace the notification bars, dialers etc. Only the launcher and the app menu I believe. I don't have a single problem with the touchwiz stuff though, and will probably go back to Touchwiz launcher too.

Ok, just one more question then, what about the settings, are they the stock settings menu or another custom UI like the old Touchwiz?
Thanks.
People have used both launcher pro and adwlauncher and they say they work perfectly fine with the phone.
Personally I'm staying with touchwiz, I love it and I love the smooth application menu, unlike other android devices where it's sluggish and strange. Also, it looks very very good, unlike the videos online, in real it's beautiful. to me anyways

Great thanks. I'll flash my nexus before deciding, but maybe Samsung got it right this time.
Sorry to be ragging on your phone guys, but touchwiz absolutely ruined the Behold 2.
yes that's what I heard that touchwiz 2222222222 ruined but the 3 is great for me. I haven't seen the 2

Stock Android lockscreen?

For some reason, Samsung always seems to have to put its own stamp on everything.
While I don't dislike the Samsung Epic unlock slider, I like the stock Android one (with both an unlock and volume slider) better.
Is it possible to get rid of the Sammy lockscreen and use the standard Android lock on the Epic?

Almost ALL of the available ROM threads have a flashable zip on their page to replace the lockscreen with the vanilla one.
There is an apparently calls widget locker which u can put the original lock the iPhone lock sense lock or create your own custom 6+ option lock pretty cool once installed u can also use stock android home and disable the touchwiz taskbar on bottom
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

Everything I've seen says the widget locker lockscreen causes all kind of problems...

The only ROM I found with a flashable vanilla lockscreen was Epic Experience, and flashing the vanilla lock zip had no effect.

I use widget locker and it doesn't give me any problems. It can be a bit slow sometimes and occasionally the stock lock screen shows up but overall it's pretty good. I would recommend it, it's just $2.

Did you try clearing your cache?

Yes, but I think the problem is that I'm not on a de-odexed ROM (I'm on stock rooted ROM w/Clockwork)

You've probably hit the nail on the head there. My next question was going to be what ROM you were using... I never tried it on a odexed ROM, wasn't sure it would work on one.

Yeah I found some evidence in other threads that flashing the AOSP lockscreen mod on the stock ROM will not work (because it's not de-odexed). There is a de-odexed version of the stock ROM on the Wiki, I may try that since I'm happy with the stock ROM otherwise.
Thanks for all your help.

no lock screen

I have been using widget locker lockscreen replacement for a long time now. I just upgraded to the stable release of cyanogenmod 7 and wanted to test drive out the new lockscreen options. but when i disabled my alternative lockscreen the cm one wont activate. ive even uninstalled the replacement, but i still get nothing. I cant find anywhere in the settings that would turn on the lockscreen. any help?

So.... it might be here... it used to be: Settings > CM Settings > Tablet tweaks > Disable (or enable) lockscreen.

Best I do is to use Nova Launcher and then select the Google icons in the settings menu.
If you say "Please" be sure and hit "Thanks"!!!

Yea I figured that was the closest I would of gotten unless I get a new device, the icons can work, but when going to the settings, I just feel a bit ehh, I will deal with it for now, until I find myself a really good stable AOSP rom.
