Problem with instaling rom on i9300 int - Galaxy S III General

Hi everyone
This is my first post so please go easy on me
After long reading on internet I was trying to install custom rom on my phone but keep failing, my galaxy s3 is rooted already with CWM, after reading instruction how to root the phone it just keep saying installation failed from SD card, also try using twrp which did more harm then good for me but anyway managed to go back to CWM and still the same what I'm doing wrong? I download the CM11 nightly but it keeps failing to install.
Anyone have any suggestions?

u need to install the latest twrp or cwm
then put the rom zip file in your sd card
wipe data and cache
and select the zip from your recovery and flash it

done this but it keeps failing when installing also saying installation aborted it looks like that CWM and twrp having problem reading my sd card

try to change your sd card or borrow from any of your friend for flashing purpose

sorted now, downloaded rom manager which updated my CWM and now running on 4.3 happy days, will try kitkat 4.4 later

Thanks for your help.....I will try restoring it to stock and start from the beginning.....will doing a factory reset in settings restore the stock recovery.....
I did actually try philz touch recovery....same thing happened....but I will try your option 2 and get back to you pronto.....
So I followed the steps you asked me too, twice and still no joy.....
philztouch recovery gives the following message:
E: Cab't open /external_sd/ROMS/SuperDroid_v4_m3ddog.zip (bad)
Installation aborted
Does it matter my custom rom file is on my external sd card?
The only thing i can think of is that i am trying to install a rom for different s4 variation maybe.........its the gt i9505, thats all i know....
HELP ME!!!......:crying:

thanks, its just strange that the 2-3 roms i have tried have all returned that error message, I will download the rom you linked and get back to you.....
is that rom to go on with odin, as currently i have stock recovery......?
no joy with the linked rom......
same thing happened, i can successfully get it rooted and flash recoveries no problem......
is it possible its a sd card problem.....
also, when i go to restore the back up i make before flashing the rom, it reverts back to a brand new handset, so i need to set it all up again, put in my Google account details etc.......all my apps return obviously, but this isn't meant to happen is it......
it really is confusing me, all the other devices I have had in the past and currently have flashed ok........
when i wipe before the flash, its just the default factory reset, cache, dalvik I do , is this correct?
That should be fine, it is possible the sd card is corrupt or not communicating properly with the recovery. You could always put the rom on the internal sd card.... Just don't factory wipe or you could loose the rom you are trying to flash...
That didn't work either......so frustrated with this.......
Can someone go through the exact procedure....I know there are guides but personal experience s are best.....

Full Wipe Install means:
- Wipe Data / Factory Reset
- Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
- Format System partition
- Install

thanks....
I have been using twrp mostly....i don't believe the default wipe setting includes the system partition format...........could the absence of this formatting cause problems every time?
finally managed to flash a custom rom.......
the trick was to install the zip without any sort of wipe, then do the wipes after successful installation......
weird eh....

trying to install gpe sprint rom question.

I install cwm from s4galaxy root and I'm rooted do I install the root from cwm or odin?
I copied the rom to my sd card but I don't see it when I look for it.
I installed gpe and it gives me alot of stopping errors once I reboot the phone. What did I do wrong.

Cant OTS Update to 4.41

I have have a nexus 5 running Paranoid Android 4.4 with franco kernal and CWM recovery. Every time I try to use Paranoid OTA to update to 4.41 I get to the CWM recovery and am presented with this:
+Verifying SD card marker.....
+SD card marker not found........
+Error processing ROM manager script. Please verify that you are performing the backup, restore, or ROM installation from ROM Manager v.4.0.0 or higher
+/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sd card/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM Manager to report the issue.
What the heck is ROM manager.
I also looked around and saw that re rooting my device could fix the problem but is there a way to do that without loosing all the work I put into customizing my phone.
Simple.
OTA has never supported CWM because of the closed source scripting in CWM. You need philz or twrp in order to use the ota. If you want to keep using CWM you will have to manually flash after the ota has downloaded the update.

Install Firmware Help

I have a T Mobile Note 3. I originally had Jelly Bean firmware. I rooted it and have gone through several custom ROMs. I was using Cyanogenmod 12 Lollipop, but today it started messing up. So, I went into recovery and wiped the data and dalvik, but that didn't help. So, I wiped EVERYTHING. Even what was on the SD card. Now, I am following steps using ODIN to install firmware again, but it isn't working.
I have gotten as far as to install CWM, but that's it.
I have CWM 6.0.4.7 installed.
I tried installing CF autoroot. I have downloaded and installed KitKat stock firmware files. Each time I try to install ODIN just says it failed.
If I could get a custom ROM on the SD card, I think I would be ok, but even though ODIN works, Windows doesn't let "see" my phone. I can't access the storage through the computer.
Someone please help. I'm stuck.

What error in odin? Just mount your SD card on a card reader, plug to a PC and put CM there. Then just flash with twrp.

Help a n00b there please :o3

Hey, look what i've done while desperately trying to install GearCM or CM12 ROM. First, i installed TWRP on my i9500 device. After that, i put the GearCM 5.1 and Gapps for 5.1 on sdcard, but i got mad really fast when i saw i can't install ANY ZIP from sdcard, then tried another CUSTOM ROMS, same problem, i wiped cache and system ( ye, system ) ) - dont ask why i did that - Anyway, now i have no system files on phone, and on my sdcard i only got that useless ZIPs.
Ah, forgot to mention, the error showing up everytime i tried to install a zip was : "Zip corrupted, Operation aborted" (something like that ).
NOTE : I can't boot normally, but i can boot in recovery (TWRP) . I can't flash another rom using odin as i can't switch usb debugging ON.
Ah, please, don't laugh too much, im pretty serious
Oh, some1 explain this to me -> I tried to install zip @ adb as i saw explained on a blog -> got stuck at recognizing phone-pc due to driver error, so i decided to try last time installing the custom ROMs( THE SAME ZIPs i got error before) from recovery -> install zips. AND GUESS WHAT, less than 20s rom is installed without any errors, i dont know if to be mad or happy. Atleast explain me what happened there.

*stare and laughing a lot*
*Just kidding, okay? :silly: *
And then;
You have corrupted zips. You need to redownload the package completely (ROM+GApps) and transfer it to your external SD card and flash. You can transfer the downloaded zips by using adb push command or remove your external SD card and plug it to anything else (read: SD card reader; of course ).

Yeah, maybe im not exactly as n00b as you think. I used exactly the same zips after(same procedure tho), and it worked smooth(i didn'teven touch them).
NOTE : I think i said i tried using adb to install zips but i got a driver error which i couldn't solve.
I've had that issue for some time especially with CM, have you tried verifying the sh1 checksum once you've loaded it onto your sd card?
Thanks.
