I've never owned an Android before so I have no idea is it's unlocked or not. The seller claimed it was. I inserted the sim and it shows up on the Network Operators tab but when I try select it, it says "registration failed, try again later." When I try to make a call it says "not registered on network." I've tried to google it, but none of the long codes to put in the phone app works and *#0011# puts it into a different service mode thing that has PCS1900:Limited. Please help, I have no idea how to work an Android os.

Hey everyone, I know this is an age old question but all the other threads I've seen like this don't seem to fit my exact situation!
Long story short I bought a S4 with Koodo from a secondhand store. I know it's with Koodo cause the Koodo service app is on it. It also had super su on it so it was rooted before.
basically it says Imei unknown and when I try to put my Sim card in it says "emergency call only".
All the other threads I saw mentioned that their baseband version was unknown as well and the Imei sv number was unknown as well, both of the numbers however are viable in the about device tab in my phone. It does say Bluetooth address unavailable though
I am running andriod 5.0.1!
so what can I do (if anything)

I have a used Rogers Galaxy S4 I337M (from Ebay) and I have purchased an unlock code from a third party site. The problem is I cannot for the life of me get the phone to prompt me for the unlock code. I've tried Bell and Fido SIMs with no luck (they work on the phones I pulled them from just fine).
I've tried flashing stock 4.2.2 and trying all of the dialer codes I could find. I've also used Samsung Kies to restore the latest lollipop firmware, but this still does not prompt and the dialer codes don't work here also.
I've also tried going into the dialer service menu (*#0011#) and enable PERSO SHA256 ON and reboot, and still no prompt. Foreign SIMs either show "Unregistered SIM" or "Emergency Calls Only".
The only way I managed to generate a prompt was to do an NV rebuild from the service menu, and the unlock code said it was successful, but the phone still refuses to get any service. The phone does see the networks when I got to Network Operators, but it fails to register or says "unable to connect, try again later".
Can anyone help me get this phone working?
You confirmed that the model # is sgh-i337m in download mode?
The imei from the dialler (*#06#) matches the imei on the label under the battery?
The imei from the dialler is blacklisted?
Tried flashing the latest ROM using Odin?
Tried unlocking the phone using the free method with regionlockaway?

Thanks for your reply, looks like the imei is blacklisted (hadn't thought of that). I guess I'll see if I can get myself a refund.
If you want to keep the phone, try to have the seller get it removed from the blacklist database.
Hello, so recently I bought a refurbished samsung galaxy s7 (Verizon version) and I live in Europe, Republic of Moldova. So, the phone is unlocked and working global (that says) and I have some problems. When i got the phone it had android 6.0. Everything worked fine, the sim, ussd codes, 3G internet. I didn`t have any verizon crap or apps.
After that, i`ve upgraded to android 7.0 via Odin. I downloaded an official android for verizon s7. Now, with android 7.0, when i open my phone, i get the verizon greeting message (like welcome and verzion logo).
Then, everytime i restart the phone i get the message that my sim is not from verizon wireless. Now, i can`t call any USSD codes (for example *200# that is the code for checking my sim balance). It just shows that it calls the ussd code and then says that the number is incorrect. Also, i can`t connect to the internet. I tried to find the Acces Point Names, but they are nowhere (like this function was deleted).
Also, in my settings app, i have 2 unknown options. T roaming and Service provider Giga LTE, KT twophone service and whenether i enter them, my settings app just crashes and it wants to restart it.
Also... i have a lot of verizon apps..
I tried going to my SIM carrier and they said they dont know how to solve it.

VERIZON SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 using Canadian SIM says "This SIM card is not from Verizon"
Hi everyone, it's my first time posting..
I have a Galaxy S4 from Verizon that has been factory reset. I inserted my Freedom Mobile SIM and the setup wizard says: "this SIM card is not from Verizon wireless."
Gives three options:
Emergency Call
Turn phone off
Use WiFi
Trying to use the phone does not work.
I followed some instructions online to unlock the phone for free but upon using the dial option it says : "connection problem or invalid MMI code"
None of the codes worked even the one to obtain the IMEI. I can locate the IMEI but I just wanted to try this way to see what happens..
I had the person who gave me the phone contact Verizon for an unlock code and they said that the phone was unlocked and to call Samsung. Samsung said to call Verizon and for the last time...Verizon said it's unlocked.
Is there a way to fix this? Is my SIM card maybe the problem?
The SIM was working fine in my unlocked phone before it broke but I did have some issues before it was working and I was told to get it replaced to fix the issues but I didn't end up doing that since they were resolved on their own.
Are you sure the Verizon s4 is network unlocked and supports Freedom's aws frequencies?
Verizon said they were sure..
