Someone commented about turning their Sprint GS4 into a T-Mobile GS4 running a google edition rom.
i have been searching and cant find anything about this but i remember reading it makes it easier to domestic unlock with tmobile and att since its a tmobile firmware
does this firmware go on the sprint GS4 easily or is their custom firmware about this?
thanks
There is already a discussion about unlocking the SGS4 to work with T-Mobile.
You can do it! Use that search tool.

Gentlemen,
I currently got myself an AT&T model galaxy s4 and Im looking to run it on Tmobile. My question is what advice do you guys have for a noob like me?
Do I need to unlock the bootloader?
Is there a specific ROM I should use?
How do I get MMS and group text to work?
What's the best method to unlock my GS4?
Thanks!
The best method to unlock your GS4 is to request the code from AT&T if you have an account with them.
To get MMS to work you need to edit the APN settings to t-mobile's configuration. You may need to copy this from a t-mobile phone, ask a friend, or Google it.
The instructions to change the APN are on the T-Mobile website. Just Google it or fish around on their site. I found it somewhere under the bring your own phone options.

I'm trying to get my unused Sprint GS4 onto T-Mobile. I have done the SIM Unlock and on a slightly modified Sprint MF9 Rom. What is the simplest way to get it to work well with T-Mobile?
I've seen GPE ROMS for Sprint and T-Mobile. Can I just flash T-Mobile GPE rom and be done? Also, can I upgrade to the latest baseband?
Thanks.
I was going to do the update to NB1 on my ATT 1337 S4. I'm a little nervous about it, I won't lie I haven't heard many good things about it.
I digress.
My question is, is it possible to put the T-mobile firmware onto my ATT S4? My service is through T-mobile currently and I also read the 4.4.4 update is coming out for the T-mobile S4.

No, You cannot flash the Odin tar for tmobile phones, but you can flash a tmobile based ROM. Check out post 2 here. (Any ROM listed will work for you) ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616221
Also, the steps for upgrading are in post 5.

Flashing a T-Mobile ROM is your only option, we can't flash other ODIN packages or else we would have used that to unlock the bootloader.
I have an old Tmobile S7E on old ass firmware (Android 7.0 BQE1) and it's already rooted. I just went through Tmobiles Device Unlock process and I believe the phone was unlocked successfully. I'm looking to upgrade to the latest firmware that still allows rooting. I've looked through the Custom Roms threads and can't tell which one is the latest. I am also wondering if I need to use Verizon firmware or stay on Tmobile firmware.
For instance, this thread here: by jrkruse, he mentions to another user in the comments "This one or verizon one? This one just has the Tmobile csc stuff added and a build.prop for gsm carriers thats it" so it made me wonder if I'm using Verizon service but it's a Tmobile phone if this would work. I know Verizon is CDMA so him saying gsm carriers made me think it may not work.
I know this device is old and this thread doesn't get browsed as much anymore so hopefully I can get some answers. If I can't get this working I guess I'll just be getting a new 2020 model phone :highfive:
Thanks guys!
