Don't think the md5 part matters. Sounds to me like you're not wiping completely (/system specifically). Follow these steps and you should be good to go..
Wipe dalvik cache
/system
/data
cache.
DO NOT WIPE INTERNAL STORAGE

Getting an error other than the md5 check?
EDIT: Did you Factory Reset in TWRP or go to Advanced Wipe?

Reason I asked is that I would suggest skipping the factory reset option, go in to advanced wipe and check all except internal storage.

Help flashing ROM?

Hey guys! I need some help flasing this ROM on my Nexus 7, [ROM] Eclipse 2.1 Grouper - Build 1 - Welcome to the Dark!! (10/12/12)....
Every single time I try to flash it, it never works. I do the following, I install goomanager and flash TWRP recovery. I install all the necessary things to get it running. I transfer the ROM along with the zip file to flash google apps to the internal storage. I then boot to recovery, wipe/cashe/factory reset/devlik. But then I lose the files and cant flash the ROMs. I just flashed stock google jelly bean. Any suggestion/help with this?
Install Clockworkmod recovery, then make a full wipe and flash the rom

I find it easiest to download directly to my N7 "sd card". I use CWM but reboot to recovery, wipe data and then flash ROM from zip on the "sd card" and then reboot.

So, when I do the factory reset, it'll wipe the internal storage but not the 'sd card'?
Yes, only internal storage

Alright, now how do I get there? I used EZ File Explorer and placed the 2 zip files in the download file. Is that the correct place?
Any location is good, just to be on the sd card

I normally just leave it in the download folder. In order to flash it, you just go into recovery and do your steps. When it asks for a location, just direct it to the folder you placed it in and flash.
p.s. don't forget about wipe

Nevermind! I got it to work! I left it out in the root folder like you guys said and the file was still there after the reset! Flashed ROM to the eclipse ROM! Thanks for all your help! :victory: ^_^
Glad you got it to work, but to answer your question, you wipe first then flash the new rom (so you have a clean slate). You don't want to install over other roms unless maybe if it was a minor update of the same rom.

Phone won't boot after attempt to do a Nandroid Backup

I wanted to install cyanogenmod on my Nexus 4 so I installed CWM recovery through ADB and then booted to it from the phone.
Before doing anything I wanted to do a Nandroid Backup but something went wrong (I suspect storage space)
So I tried to boot the device to delete some files, but I can't get past the boot screen
I still dont have any roms on the device so I cant flash them and I can't figure out how to access the SD Card, I've read it doesnt work from CWM on Nexus devices
I would try to wipe data cache or maybe lock/unlock from fastboot and hope it gets back to normal but I wanted to hear your thoughts before messing it up even more.
What dou you think?
Thanks in advance!
You can try sideloading a rom onto it if you flash TWRP.

Thank you Wiping the cache did solve it however.
Also, if this happens to someone else and wiping the cache doesnt solve it, CWM has also got a sideload install option

What are your steps for install? If it's happening across three ROMs, I would be willing to say it might be the install procedures. With most stock ROMs, you need to mount system. Most AOSP ROMs have a mount script included. Do your wipes, reboot recovery, and mount system. Then flash.

I would try to reboot recovery and then mount system. Some people have found that system doesn't actually mount if you don't reboot, even though it shows it is.

kitkat question

i need some guidance on kitkat rom i have i337m gs4 when i try to install gummy 1.1-11-21-13 it starts then it says instalation aborted before i install i did wipe data/ factory reset wipe cache and wipe davic before i install rom it wont install anybody can help me out thanks for any help
Did you check the md5? What recovery are you using and version?
Your probably flashing the wrong file. Since your using the Canadian version you need to flash the Canadian rom. I had the same problem. Check if the ROM your flashing is jfltecan.zip... If not then make sure its that version.

Okay. Just factory reset, clear cache, dalvik cache, flash the ROM, flash gapps(make sure it the gapps listed) and then try booting up the phone. It should work. If it fails again try and see if the file your using is corrupted.. Also make sure the file is in a zip and not extracted.

CWM stuck trying to install ROM

OK. Tried to install CM11 on my phone today. Stupidly tried with ROM manager. The flash failed. I tried to go back to recovery but each time I boot to recovery CWM tries to flash the same ROM. So I couldn't get back into cwm to nandroid restore. Tried re-flashed cwm with Odin but still would try to install the ROM at recovery. Had to flash twrp clear everything re-flash my original ROM and titanium backup restore. Any ideas how I can stop cwm from trying to re-flash the problem ROM if I go back to cwm recovery??

Hi,
What phone variant do you have?
i9505 or i9505G?
Maybe you can find where the recovery script is located that CWM is trying to open? Then delete that file so CWM won't be able to take orders from it.

It's the i9505 but with the Google version of 4.4.2

That's what I was guessing but have no idea where this is stored. It's pretty low level so I'd be surprised if it was file based.

Yes - used the wipe option inside CWM
It may have been a problem with the download file - will retry
