Hi

XDA statement on Best ROM / Kernel threads is clear and all such discussions are immediately closed
One of them is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49251083#post49251083
"Best" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.

Mod Edit no need to quote the whole first post
Maybe some non-partial description would go good together with every ROM that is on the list. As in: does it work flawleslly, are the bugs being worked on at the time, etc...
Just a suggestion.

I didn't test all of them
Used by me latest 4.4.2 CM11 and Carbon ROM's works flawlessly without problems.
Maybe i am lucky man, because i have no problems with spontaneous reboots nor with time freezing described by some people.
I am not using any tweaks as Crossbreader, killjoy or PurePerformances etc...
For me our dual-core 1GHz processor is enough
You are lucky I guess. For me the CM11 had clock freezes, random reboots and most recently charging problems (didn't recognise a plugged in charger...)
Thats a good idear so I will find the best ROM for me, thank you!

Dear HD2 Chefs,
Thank you for taking the time to read this. As you all know, the ROM development section of the HD2 forums has grown tremendously and continues to do so. In order to maintain this section better and to make it easier for new members, I request that you all follow the following Thread Naming conventions. Some of you are already doing this and I request the others to do so as well.
[ROM]
To indicate that the thread is in fact a rom. This has to be the first Tag for your title.
[OFFICIAL]
To indicate that the rom is from an Official source. Depending on if the rom is an official one or not, this tag has to come in second.
[RADIO]
Radio Thread
[LANG] (Not required for English ROMS)
Indicate the language of the rom if it is not English, preferably with 2-4 character mentions. If you carry ROMs with multiple language options, please use the tag [MULTILANG]
[REF]
Reference Threads
[REQ]
Requisition Threads
[TUT]
Tutorial Threads
Additional Tags
[GUIDE]
[DUMP]
[PROJECT]
For the time being, these are the only tags we need to get the forum organsied. I might include more tags at a later time.
We thank you for cooperating with us and for all your hard work & continued support of XDA.
Hello every one (and a happy new year)...
i will try to port my very first app i've developed and shared (discontinued) on XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838140) to Android, and ask you if there is still some interest in there...it will be based upon JDownloader, but for mobile devices...which includes direct downloads from youtube, rapidshare, the Google Hacks Engine and all other requests made by the users at the old thread...
Regards, Jetta20162
I'm sorry...please move this to the Q&A Thread or Android Software Development Thread...Thank You!
I will be most definitely interested in this. Good luck

Hi there,
this message is target to you that are about to develop a new rom (veteran must already know that)
These are some special rules that you have to impress in your head before clicking on "Open New Thread" with [ROM] in title:
If you are about to post a new Rom you must be in compliance with XDA rule and with good sense:
New Roms thread must have:
- Exactly say which base rom do you used : Stock, custom from another developer.
- Ask permission to use that rom as your base to the original Developer(s).
- Give credits to Original Developer(s) in your first post:
(eg: Credits and thanks for this Rom goes to XXXXX
- Give credits, if possible, to people that you grabbed: scripts, themes and apps.
- You rom MUST BE free of paid apps, warez is not tollerated here.
- Your first post must have as more info that you can, " this is my rom" and a link is not tollerated.
- Thread Title : " [ROM][date of release]xxxxxxxxxxx[/b]
As a user of this thread you must read this (it isn't invisible), so i'll take this as accepted by everyone.
I'm bored of reports on people that don't follow the respect in work of other user and basically, with this thread you don't have other excuses.
Every ROm thread found without those (simple) rules will be closed and links deleted without furter notice.
Bonus rules:
- adfly links are not allowed.
- If a Rom are found by us illegal for XDA, every user is not allowed to have the link of that in your signature.
Feel free to pm me for any clarification.
Thanks for your cooperation.
Hi, just after some advice about huawei roms for the X5. The x5 section on XDA is a bit all over the place with information scattered everywhere unlike the u8150 which has no section of it's own, but has a great wiki.
Seems that development is pretty solid for GB roms for this phone as there are multiple roms which are very close to being perfect and also GB is being released for this phone on the 30th in theory ;-).
Main 2.3 roms seem to be MIUI, CM7 and Oxygen and a long awaited for Huawei approved one.
Main 2.2 roms seem to be B160, FLB and Void
MIUI:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354680 -.32 kernel and 2 devs
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367448 - Genokolar dev, .35 kernel
Great if you like the android/ios mashup.
Can anyone tell me if there are any problems experienced with the 18/12/2011 .32 kernel release?
Has anyone tried Geno's .35 release? Seems more like a testing release from Geno.
CM7 - Only has one DEV that I can see, Genokolar
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068766 - .32 kernel and 11.11.28 final release
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311565 - .35 kernel and 11.11.22 release
Not quite sure what the deal is here, .32 kernel seems stable with most everything working except usb tether. .35 kernel seems a bit all over the place and I am not sure what the deal is. Anyone able to shed some light here? Also seems Geno is dropping support so hopefully other devs step up.
Oxygen: Seems active but has some of the biggest bugs that I can see:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149150
http://forum.oxygen.im/
Seems to be really active but has no ability to mount internal SD card, no tethering, video seems a bit suspect. Are these problems still happening?
2.2 roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059753 - B160 customised rom 2.2.2.
http://android.modaco.com/topic/342...rom-for-the-huawei-u8800-with-online-kitchen/ - Not sure what the deal is with online kitchen, but it is 2.2.2 and seems to have a problem with headphone audio.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1147103 - Void: eridanus, seems all working and uses franco kernel.
Guides, Modaco page seems a little outdated, but still useful:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/341011-ultimate-guide-to-the-huawei-u8800/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Huawei_U8800_IDEOS_X5 X5 wiki which could do with some updating.
Recoveries:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343276 - 5.0.27 recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130524&highlight=void 4.0.05 recovery by genokolar
Which one is the recovery to use?
I know it is a personal choice, but which rom is a good start? Seems CM7 is the way to go if I don't want miui interface and need ability to wifi tether and use both sd cards in the phone.
Thanks for any input
Paul
Also, we have a wiki page here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Huawei_U8800_IDEOS_X5
You dont need to be a dev to edit a wiki, anyone can do it, how about if we edit it to keep as a central repository for info and sticky it at the top of the general section.
I have been helping curate the u8150 one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Huawei_U8150_IDEOS#Unofficial_ROMs_.26_Recovery
and it is very easy to do as well as making all info easy to find.
If you have some info to contribute, why not help make the wiki complete?
Thanks
Paul

Hi Bro & Sis,
Frankly speaking,Im bit confused about MIUI & LEWA OS porting status for our x8 ether its agains of XDA Rules or not.As me understand its like this:
-Porting isnt wrong if somebody do it from own rom resource(based own rom).
-Any tutorial & other source is open to anybody to used it as long as proper credit given.
So,me didnt see any wrong of it and me also wondering are there any of our DEV who has a own rom willing to do it if its legal.
Yes,we have many roms(MIUI & LEWA) out there but its based on somebody else rom which is not promising for development(bug fixing, better performance etc) because as I know beside its remain ori bugs its also bring new bugs & little lag of performance.
If anybody has diff point of view please share it to help me be more clear about regarding issue.
THANKS
Please read here for your reference.
Second, Mod roms will now be placed in the X8 Themes & Apps forum The threads will contain in the OP all the relevant permissions/credits along with links to the original rom thread and provided as a cwm update zip. This decision has been made after consultation with RD's/Developers/Senior members and this is there wishes so respect them

Actually the reason why colossus keep on closing such thread in development its because of the failure to comply this rules. I dont see any hard part in following that rule. Let me simplify.
Now you want to mod or port ROM? Here are some checklist.
1. If you will be using a based ROM. Please make sure you have proper permission from the base ROM developer. THIS IS A MUST.
Now you have permission eh?
So you can start modding/porting the ROM.
What if I didnt get permission?
Dont worry you can still mod/port that ROM but please do not share it here. In short it applies only for personal use.
2. If you already done porting then create a thread in X8 Themes & Apps. If your rom becomes popular and you apply your own fix etc. Then please contact the MOD so that the ROM will be moved to Development Section. (Ofcourse it will still undergo screening if that would fit on the Dev Section.
Now guys what is the hard part understanding those Rules implied?
back to bed zZZzzhh
Deedii,
By your statement,me understand this;
Porting rules is a same as modding/theming rules(must be place in x8 theme sec.)
As I know, this rules is for someone who modding/theming based on others rom because ori Dev usually not modding/theming their own rom & open a new thread.
If they did or add/remove something,we can call it a next updates.
Its make sense if someone porting based on others but how about porting based on own roms?
For example; How about if nAa porting MIUI based on his MiniCM?
Should its must place in theme sec too?
BTW,its help me clear a bit thats porting based on somebody else rom is NOT agains XDA rules if you put in theme sec. with a permission & proper credit.thanks
p/s:sorry if disturb u,its 8.00am in my place when I make this thread
i thinks the miui and lewa os remove because some warez or legal issue.
i agree that we can post rom with permission. but i think that miui os and lewa os is consider as theme bercause based from cm 7.1 or 7.2 etc. lasttime i saw ppl post that lewa os is theme ginger dx , meybe they need get permission.
p/s: something i no understands. for example , if some 1 take minicm7 with permission then add tweak like gps tweaks, bravia, other rom lib etc from other people is consider development??? nowday dev is like zoo many cm 7.1, 7.2
For example; How about if nAa porting MIUI based on his MiniCM?

Ofcourse it will be considered as development. If you based it with your own ROM then there is no issue since its yours. What are you confused about?

As stated no its not. Instead of posting the whole rom you can actually make a flashable zip on that tweak that you want to put.
