i down graded modem to MDC
did the Simunlock.exe and rebooted phone and verified it did work wish a different sim and it showed the ICCID in about phone status
i then reflashed the MK2 firmware from these forums and the unlock is still valid
*#0011# works ok...
well its a lil buggy but it does work
##3424# works and ##768#
APN menu works by default
just wish there was a way to block sprint activation and sometimes system update (but it not going off because im current) without being root

Ok this is the 4-5 Sprint Galaxy S4 factory unlock i have done. but for some reason this one will not work on metro.
here are the steps i followed
Phone was stock NG2
i factory reset the phone and installed the MDC Modem
i then did the internation unlock and then the domestic unlock.
after i did all this it will accept all sim cards but it gets no service with my activated MetroPCS Card.
so i changed the APN setting and still nothing so i called to metropcs and they said they needed to add the imei to my account. but when they try they say they can't add it to there system that the unlock did not go threw all the way.
so i then rooted the phone and installed CM nightlies rom and still can't activate it anyone have any ideas on what i can do and why they cant add the imei number to there system
no one has any ideas. could it of been because i was on NG2 rom with MDC modem should i of rooted and installed a rooted MF9 rom and then install MDC modem then run the process. any help would be greatly aprecaited
Could be that the imei is blacklisted?
that was the first thing i checked and everything came back clean on 2 different websites
I'm trying to try some methods to unlock my AT&T S4. I'm still on MDL firmware, it is rooted but I never unlocked it and now I really want to because I just came back from an overseas trip and didn't have use of my phone. However, all the methods require I be able to dial or enter into some kind of service mode like *#9090# or *#0011#. However after I hit the last # nothing happens, I hit the Call button and I see a USSD Code Runnning then 'Connection problem or invalid MMI'. I can't get anywhere without being able to enter into any of the service menus. Can anyone tell me why or how I can fix this?
Also, I wouldn't be opposed to updating to the latest firmware through AT&T (I disabled the OTA update pushing thing long ago) and then rooting and unlocking with the latest methods. Is this possible right now? But I still need to get the dialing code issue fixed I believe. I would still need to be able to crack through the AT&T wifi tethering feature in the phone which I have right now on MDL, its very important to me. If it can't be done on the latest firmware then I'll just have to wait another 6 months for my contract is up then AT&T will give me the sim unlock code.
Please Help!
Oh, and I just remembered AT&T actually provided me with a sim network unlock code which I didn't try to enter until I was overseas, about a year had passed already. The code didn't work and I actually found that it was just my IMEI#. I'm assuming that was never going to work anyways and whoever gave me that was just messing with me?
You can try flashing the MF3 modem through recovery and then running regionlockaway app. If that doesn't work, you can flash the stock MDL firmware using Odin. The firmware can be downloaded from sammobile site.
Doesn't your phone ask for a unlock code when you insert a different SIM card?

If I do this then will I lose root? If so will I be able to recover it?

Yes it does, but AT&T won't give me a code.

Flash the modem won't lose root. If you use Odin you will have root afterwards

Before you judge me by saying how i'm posting something thats done before, it hasn't, I've searched everywhere no methods work
Please, someone help me I've been at this for 4 days now and maybe just 15 hours of sleep :crying:.
The phone I have right now is the SGH-i337m Galaxy s4 running NC1 with MDJ modem (Kitkat 4.4.2) Does not detect sim, it says "No sim available".
I'm not exactly sure if the phone is from Bell but the phone use to be running fine on my old rogers sim card until I updated to their new ShareTap Sim.
With the ShareTap Sim the phone doesn't detect my sim anymore. So I tried my Share Tap Sim in another unlocked phone (Galaxy note 3) it worked fine.
Then I tried a Virgin mobile sim card on the S4 and it detected it and worked fine also. So then I tried to unlock it by flashing it with many different methods:
1. I tried flashing a older version of Bell 4.2.2 but it bricked my phone ( I already unbricked it back to 4.4.2)
2. I tried flashing the MDJ modem but it doesn't show the hidden menu.
3. I tried flashing ATT modem to try it but that also bricked my phone.
4. I tried to use the AWS tutorial shown here
5. I tried the regionlock away tutorial here in the third method (RegionlockAway doesnt do anything to my phone)
6. I pulled the modem.bin from the TAR file from sammobile of Bell's 4.2.2. But it still doesn't show the hidden menu! It's the MDJ modem but it still doesn't work!
I'm not sure whats wrong with my phone. When I put the Virgin mobile sim card in there it only shows Telus, EXT and Virgin Sim networks available not the whole spectrum which is what is supposed to happen with the 337_aws.qcn file from the AWS tutorial. Then when I flash MDJ modem from bell or the one from this dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2m3id2cx4l...37MVLUAMDJ.zip
It still doesn't show my secret menu.
The secret menu I'm trying to access is the *#0011# but if that didn't work I also tried the *#9090# It still doesn't show the secret menu. So what do I do now? Please Help!
Thanks for reading!
Sorry to hear that, but you are in the same situation i was, the phone was probably sim-unlocked by Box Software, like Octopus or Z3X Boxes as i did, the phone won't recognize some sim cards by unknown reasons, there is no fix avaliable for this as i changed imei, tried different NVM from other phone & even replacing sim card reader. i finally sold it & got myself a i337m unlocked via code.
Edit:
forgot to mention, My SIM stopped being recognized when i upgraded it to a newer LTE version
Kind regards.
Have you tried stock NC1 with the included modem? If the device is unlocked, you might have better success with SIM recognition. In my case, my device was not unlocked, so I Odin flashed stock Telus MDJ, then rooted with CF-Auto-Root, unlocked with RegionlockAway (KNOX tripped), and applied the AWS Mod.
Then I flashed stock NC1 with the incl. modem (root gone), and managed to get Rogers LTE and Wind H+ on the Telus device. From there, I OTA updated, and rooted with CF-Auto-Root, flashed TWRP, and worked my way to 5.0.1. Trust me I know how frustrating this can be, but thanks to this forum, there was a solution. Here's what worked for me (link). Good luck.
Hi, i am new one to xda ..
I have a Galaxy s4 I9505 with "sim network unlock pin dismiss" Unlocking Problem.
i install Android lollipop(UK) rom to s4. before install lollipop i had this problem'
I tired trying carrier Unlock Methord [*0011#]. but it dosnt work for me. That menu isnt work in my device.
I am from sri lanka. in Asia. How can i fix this. Waiting for replies. thanx
The service menu unlocking method was patched in 4.3 and later, thus it's no surprise that you have no menu.
Given you upgraded to lollipop, your option is to purchase an unlock code online and hope it works.
You can go back to ROM 4.2 and redo the *#0011#, or if I'm not mistaken, the patch is in the modem, not the ROM itself, so try to flash the "early" modem (ex : I9505XXUAMDN) that you can find here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39176955#post39176955 and then do the *#0011#
Another method that could work (if the *#0011# failed) : use RegionLock Away (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551), also with 4.2 ROM (or ealry modem), you need to root to use this app.
The thing about RegionLock Away and the service menu unlocking methods is that neither is guaranteed to stick if you upgrade. At least if he pays for the code he's unlikely to ever have to worry about it again. That said, I've recommended RegionLock Away in the past, when Android 5.0.1 was not yet out. With that version now available I'm holding off. I'm concerned that Samsung changed the modem in such a way as to guarantee restoring the lock on an upgrade. Perhaps the OP could serve as a test case.
I'm using a "modified" modem using RegionLock Away and can confirm that it works well after upgrade to Lollipop but as I said, RegionLock Away only works with "early" modem, one must first reflash the old modem, patch with RegionLock Away, and then can freely upgrade modem & ROM, the unlock will stay ^^
i all to everyone don't know if this is correct in putting this post here . I have a Samsung galaxy s4 i9505 locked to ee tried a ×#0011#. And tried the long number to enter service mode. I can change it to 1. But I don't get the other menu to pop up. I've had an idea. I have tried looking for this method and I'm 50/50 weather it will work or not. As this as phone has got ee branded phone. If I installed a custom firmware btu version black edition . What the chances of unlocking it via the method above or would this phone still know in it a ee phone what are your thoughts regards James. I don't want to root the phone. I'm quite happy to put a btu black edition on the phone . I have used odin in the past on my old i9505 but that phone was already unlocked
Changing firmware will not unlock the phone. To get the proper menu to appear you have to downgrade the modem (or firmware) to Android 4.2.2, then use the service menu. If the service menu does not work, your only other alternative is to root while the modem is downgraded and run RegionLock Away.

Many thanks for your reply. So if I down grade my firmware to 4.2.2 btu so I can enter the service menu . Are you saying this mite work 50/50
I did the downgrade myself when I lost my SIM unlock. The service menu worked but I messed up somewhere and failed to unlock. RegionLock Away worked perfectly.
Access menu

Dont know if this will help you but after *#0011# press back then key input and type Q0 instead of 1. wait a few seconds and should take you to the menu.
