[Q] Disable Buttons - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I am wondering about something. Is There a way to disable the onscreen buttons, when the keyboard is open? But now can the main question is can the back button be left enabled so you can close the keyboard. I find that I am constantly hitting the home button when using the keyboard, and would love to have that disabled while the keyboard is open.
Thanks to any help.

Disabling buttons?

I'd like to disable three btutons if possible...
Those two soft keys on the keyboard (for the bottom left bottom right of the screen buttons if you know what i'm refering to; if not.. the one that closes your sms when you accidently hit it!!)
If i could get it app specific thath would be awesome; could disable those for messaging app then disable the center select from the four way directional for the emulator i use;
Problem with the meulator is that button PAUSES the game
Any suggestions? Short of ripping them off? (Totally willing; it's frustrating.)

[Q] HTC 'Phone Pad' Keyboard

Hello
The QWERTY keyboard has a 'minimise' button to make the keyboard dissappear. The 'Phone Pad' does not... anyone know why, and whether there's any way of acheiving the same result...?
Thanks
When I used to use the HTC_IME mod keyboard on my hero, it didn't have the button to get rid of the keyboard either, but you could use the back key to get rid of it. Maybe this will work?
I have it on my phone ?
Where is it you don`t have it ?
I've used 3 different types of keyboards and finally settled on SlideIT and holding the "Menu" button usually minimizes the keyboard.
Press the back arrow key to minimise the phone keypad
Spock with the 'back' button is that, in some apps (such as Android Market), it takes you back to the previous page rather than just minimizing the keyboard. A small but annoying fault...
I like the Phone Keypad but it doesn't always offer T9. I don't understand why it's available in Messaging but not in the browser. I don't get it.

[Q] Possible to disable touch bing search button?

Touch buttons are the devils work imo. since 9 out of 10 times you hit them by accident. Does anyone know how to disable the touch buttons, or change the behavior to long press? (Hold for 0.5 sek.)
Since I'm holding the phone with my right hand, the bing search button it most annoying. I also kind of need the back button, so for now I am looking for a way to disable just the search button.
with the new firmware on focus, when you are into app, the touch buttons disables.
I donĀ“t know if disable completly or only short press.
I think this will be implemented in future firmware on omnia 7
yess... quite annoying, especially using camera...

[Q] How to change assigned hw keyboard button?

Hi guys,
Does anyone know how to change a button on hw keyboard to work as a menu? I never use search or mic buttons. It would be better to have menu in that place instead of touch button.

(How To) disable softkeys/ Home Button

So I found it really annoying when watching Netflix and accidentally hitting back or recent apps softkeys. Which pauses or exits out of movie everytime I do. Because of placement of soft keys (Navigation buttons) on Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. (Which is where I hold the tab in landscape)
So I found a way to disable back/ recent apps and Home buttons. Temporarily
Settings /Device /Accessibility
Scroll to very bottom
Enable interaction control
Use volume down and home at same time to enable
Uncheck all checkboxes
Now soft keys (Navigation buttons) and home are disabled.
Usefully when watching a movie and holding with your hand on softkeys.
(Have to disable multi window to enable this feature)
If helped, thanks would be appreciated.

I tried to do this on the demo units in Best Buy but I couldn't get it to work. Could it be the demo software they had on it?

Possibly idk? Works on mine. Sometimes tablets/ TV have a retail firmware on them which isn't the same as what you take home. So could be possible
This worked for me.

Home key had to be disabled in both of the below locations. This completely disables the hardware keys so make sure to enable the on screen keys first.
Note: The onscreen keys don't show up in landscape mode for some reason so I use LMT launcher for the few times I need navigation keys in landscape.

Does anyone know how to disable the back light on the capacitive keys? I've been able to disable the buttons from functioning and I've got LMT launcher installed but I'd really like to stop them from lighting up if possible.
The only thing that stops me from buying the tab pro 8.4 at the moment are the hardware keys. I am used to on screen buttons and as I can see in some review-videos and as some of you already mentioned, if you hold the tablet in landscape you could accidentally come in touch with the capacitive keys or the home button. Therefore I am very interested in how you can handle the tab pro 8.4 with hardware-keys disabled and on screen keys enabled. Can anyone share some screenshots how it looks like?

So at the moment there is no way to have googles on screen buttons in landscape mode?
I use xposed additions to remap buttons from single click to long press on my son's 8.4 since he kept accidentally hitting buttons and getting frustrated. Not exactly what you are looking for but it has helped us here. Take a look at button Savior on the play store as well. You could use xposed additions to disable buttons and then use button Savior buttons.
