Google Chrome "no cache" reloads - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, so Chrome likes to mess around, apparently. After a clean install, it works fine, but update to a new nightly, or otherwise wipe the cache and Chrome starts to reload Web pages while I'm on them. For example, I tap the "Nexus 4 XDA" bookmark in my home screen widget to open the XDA section for N4, it loads fine and finishes, but when I zoom in to tap on a subsection of the forum, it reload the page automatically with this added to the end "?nocache=1&z=3802565822843462"
It then reloads all forum sections after I zoom in to choose a thread. Very, very annoying. Anyone know what causes this and how to fix it? I used to be able to solve it by uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, but that seems to be a gamble and is no longer working.

[Q] Change default browser for Google search widget results

On my Nexus 7, Dolphin is my default browser. However, when using the Google search widget, results are displayed in Chrome, and not Dolphin. After the list of results is displayed, then the link opens properly in Dolphin.
This issue would not be so irritating if I could long-press on links in the initial page of results and choose to open the link in a new tab. However, that option is not available, for some reason, so if I want to view several links, I have to keep going back and forth from the initial results page. This is very irritating.
So, simple question: how can I get the Google search widget to open the initial results page in my default Dolphin browser? If this is not possible, then how can I get the links in the search results to open in a new tab?
Thanks for your help.
Still hoping to make this work
I'm still hoping someone can help me figure out how to ensure that search results using the handy Google search widget open in Dolphin browser, which I find to be far better than the stock browser. As I mentioned earlier, once I choose a link, that link opens in Dolphin. However, the search results page does NOT open in Dolphin, and I am unable open a search result in a new tab from the stock browser, which is irritating.
Any ideas?
Can you clear the defaults on either the search widget or the browser and reset them? Maybe that will get them to switch.

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, I did clear the defaults, which I believe is why the search links open in Dolphin. However, the original search page stubbornly sticks with the inferior stock browser.
This is not a problem with the phone running ICS...just my Nexus 7.
Stock rom, rooted, 4.2.1. If you are rooted there is a way to remove Chrome as the default browser and place the default nexus browser (not chrome) from the nexus phone rom as default. I did this and Voice Search & Google Now open web searches in it. I side-loaded Flash and it works great with that browser. If you want to make Dolphin the default, I don't know about that.
If OP has rooted, stock Rom or otherwise and still has Chrome Browser - go to Store/Play to download free app called "AntTeh App Manager" and use it to freeze Chrome (thus, disabled it) That should allow Dolphin Browser to be the only one - boot into Custom Recovery & wipe dalvik cache to be sure, restart - and all searches should be going to the Dolphin.
I am using Boat Browser & Google Search and/or Voice Search, etc. will launch & show results in it. (rooted Stock 4.1.2 - franco kernel)
You can unfreeze Chrome & go back to it anytime as you wish as it's not deleted, just hidden & will no longer shown on the Apps list, unless re-enabled.

[Q] Youtube links in Kit Kat

The Kit Kat update was waiting for me yesterday evening, and was installed. This was from Google, not something done before arriving on it's own. So far, the update seems to be more frustrating than welcome.
PC keyboard didn't work, but found an app that is ok.
Main problem at the moment is not being able to follow a link on a web page to a youtube video. I tried with Xscope pro and with Chrome. As I understand, Kit Kat does not support Flash, whereas 4.3 did. Previously, Xscope with a Flash add-on would open the Youtubes in a browser window. Now it tries, but gives a "can't load" message and does naught.
The question; Is there a simple way to have a browser send a link to the Youtube app when a link in a webpage is clicked on? Can the Youtube app be used as an add on?
The N10 is pure stock, and I am a bit reluctant to get into the guts of the Operating system

Bump.
Anybody got anything?
After updating to KitKat, every time I tried to follow links or share something it would default to Twitter and never popped up with that "Launch with" dialog. Per some research, I went to Settings > Apps > Chrome (or browser of choice) and changed the "Launch by Default" setting, but that still didn't clear it up. I ended up having to uninstall Twitter and each of my browsers, and reinstall them to fix it.
It might not be the same thing you're experiencing, but maybe your browser isn't launching the right app and that's why they won't play. This could fix it.

Giraffeteria,
The problem you describe is different. The following fixed/worked around the issue with flash being unavailable in 4.4 for me;

Browser page and Apps reloading

I have been having a weird issue with my A7. Every now and then when using chrome or instagram or any other app, the page/app refresh itself. I tried clearing cache in recovery but it didnt help. Like Im just reopened the app again. For Instagram, it will reload and go back to the top of the page, same for chrome browser (happens a lot browsing facebook). On shopping apps, it comes back to the main screen when im browsing after a search. I tried clearing app caches as well. Only thing left is factory reset. Its realllly annoying sometimes.
Please help with any suggestions before I do that
Mod, please close this thread. I had asked for this duplicate to be delete via a ticket, but it didnt happen for some reason

This a first...no comments here. Mod could you please close this thread, looks like it isnt going anywhere

All links open chrome in foreground, default app opens in background.

Im at my wits end with this issue...
I'm getting a bit desperate here, and i cant find a solution anywhere else... i asked before, and it seemed the other people having this issue were using nova or at least some sort of non oem launcher, but some people with nova never saw the problem..
whenever i click on anything in an app... aka, a link in gmail to an ebay item...
what happens, is it opens chrome and displays the last thing i visited on chrome. sometimes if i hit back, it will go back to the ebay app it was supposed to open in and display what i was looking for. other times if i hit back, it goes back a page in chrome till i get to the home page, and then if i hit back again it finally closes chrome and it takes me to the ebay app and the results i want.
the same thing happens if i click on a link from search in the google app... if it is a link handled by an app, it will open with that app. if it is a misc link, it will open chrome showing the last thing i viewed in chrome, then i click back once or a few times(or switch back to the google app via recent apps), and boom... the link is open in the google app.
another example.. open a link in metal(my reddit app, but it also does it with bacon reader)... it opens chrome showing the last thing i viewed in chrome. if i back out of chrome, or go into recent apps and switch back to the reddit app.
it is absurdly annoying. this happened with my old lgv20, and it happens with my new one that i got as a warranty replacement. Idk what app or setting followed me over to the new phone and i have no idea how to fix it. anyone else have this problem?
the only time i can get the issue to go away is... if i clear google chrome defaults in the app manager.. and i have a 2nd browser installed, like firefox... and every time it asks to open a random link in chrome or firefox, if i select just once... the issue stays away. if i either uninstall firefox, or click chrome and set it as the default, the issue comes back.
thanks. Im honestly getting desperate as it is making phone use very very cumbersome, especially for switching back and forth between apps.
occasionally making sure chrome isnt in my recent apps will help, but not always.
anyone else here with experiencing the same?
