hi, Note 3 outputs a 1080p resolution which is a little too much for my TV (the framerate drops). is there any way I can change some setting or something to make the phone send 1080i signal instead of 1080p?

1080p is the native resolution of the Note 3, anything less going to be a compromise. If your TV can handle regular 1080p from another source, then it should handle the output from the Note 3 just fine. Check you haven't got power saving enabled on the phone.

actually I would prefer that 'compromise' at any hour! smoothness over a little bit higher resolution anytime! I mean c'mon!!! my mom's note 1 runs smoother than that!

it seems my TV can handle 1080p but at a lower framerate

I just checked on another TV using the same MHL 2 cable and it's interesting.... on that TV it displays automatically at 720p 60 Hz and it runs very smooth. I wish I could have this setting on my TV too even though smaller resolution. because on mine it runs at 1080p 24Hz and you can see the framerate

Anyone know how to send a video in the messaging app? No matter how short the video is, it keeps saying its too large. I'm on the GE Rom and I've tried everything but nothing works. Any ideas?

Not sure if you have tried it but reduce the resolution before you take the video, set it to something low.
I've tried that...set it to 480p and even then it wouldn't send

How would you reduce the resolution?
In the camera settings you can change the video quality. 1080 , 720, 480

What you talking about? What in Portrait mode? Any big different on that? Samsung phone don't have navigation bar, means the resolution is exact Full HD - 1920x1080
Portrait - 1080x1920
Landscape - 1920x1080

would also be gr8 if no root were required

for example let's say your TV's max res is [email protected] and Note3 automatically connects to it. but your TV also supports [email protected] and [email protected] so a mod would be great to allow you to switch to all possible resolutions. note3 works at [email protected], tested on another TV.

Unfortunately the Nexus 4 doesn't have a very good camera, so there's not much you can do about it.
You can try this
Hello!
Can Samsung Galaxy S4 record a video at 60fps? How?
You can't,according to my caclutions(might be wrong) the s4 camera max fps is 45,but you make look like its 60 fps by using auto focus and hdr
