charging tf300 from external battery - Transformer TF300T General

I got a external battery pack for christmas and I'm using to charge my tablet while I look into battery savers that acutally work, anyway the tablet keeps IDing as a usb charger and not a normal charger and I was wondering if there is some way (hardware/software/kernel) I could change/fix this issue. Any help and idea would be appreciated.

The external battery pack has to have the correct voltage to be recognized as a regular charger, the regular USB voltage is not high enough.

Do you the requirements for charging like the wall adapter?

Tf300t charges at 15V
Regular USB charges at 5V

Is there any way to charge faster with fast charge or something? Or am I out of luck there?

Not without modifying the charger, and that is difficult/dangerous.

Wall/usb/webtop charging

So the wall sends out 1000 ma and USB sends 500 ma.
What about webtop? Anyone know?

Now that would be interesting. 500,000 volts from a USB. Needs a flux capacitor.

Hey thanks! I already have a dock though.
In my post I asked what the charging output was for the HD dock.
Sent from my Atrix using XDA App
USB 2 is 500ma, USB 3 is 900ma, Moto charger has 850ma rating on it. If you have a USB 3.0 port you can use you'll get enough power from that. I use the 3.0 on my laptop at work, and it charges fine.
How can we find out the charging output of the multimedia dock?

Do the differences matter much? Just one takes longer to charge then the other?

Yes one charges faster that's it. For heavy users like myself, getting the most juice as conveniently as possible is a plus.
I also like to charge my phone on the dock and keep my usb cable in the truck for playing music. I only want to do so if I can find out what the dock is putting out. When I need juice I need it as quickly as possible.

If your only getting 500mA your phone will take hours to charge and then only if your not running wifi, Bluetooth or gps. Use any of those and plugging it in will just prolong discharge but not actually charge it. With just GPS running I pull over 700mA. I'm really tempted to put a female end with resistors (to fool the phone into thinking it’s on AC power or it'll never pull more than 500mA) on a split wire usb mini cable for charging at work.
I finally used my brain and checked my chargers. Here's the specs
Standard charger: 850mA
HD multimedia dock: 1.2A

I think the dock is rated higher to power the usb ports. I bet it still only feeds 500 to the phone for charging. Looks like its back to the cable for charging!

seems like till now there's no way to disable this
Just an update. I think the dock charges as fast as the wall power adapter. Almost certain.

This is interesting as I have issues getting my Atrix to charge in the car dock. I have the ATT boxed car dock with ecomoto dual USB. It simply will not charge in the dock. Connected direct to the car charger and it's super fast to charge. Maybe the ecomoto isn't capable of charging the phone in the car dock.

Is using a different wall charger harmful? I was using my old palm pre wall charger for the first few days and it is rated at 1000mA.

[Q] Nexus 10 charging with both cables

I have both the Pogo and micro usb charger for my n10 but the Pogo still doesn't charge it fast enough....I mean im reading and its losing a charge! So if I plugged in the Pogo and the micro usb will they both charge at the same time?? or will it ruin it??

No they will not both charge at the same time. Software in the ROM detects when the microUSB is charging and cuts off the pogo from charging at the same time. One other thing is if you are using an OTG connected device while a pogo plug is attached, it will look like you're charging (battery notification icon). Unfortunately that is a bogus indicator for the same reason you cannot concurrently charge from the microUSB and the pogo plug.
Are you using the original power adapter? My tab won't drain even when playing NFS:MW... Also if you are using a usb extention, that has cause people some problems... You should have no problem charging while using the tablet if you are using the pogo charger with the original adapter...
I'll try what is your brightness settings??

Full brightness... Oh and I am undervolted a considerable amount... I probably should have added that, forgot... But before I started UVing it still charge while playing games(albeit very slowly) when on half brightness... But only if I was using the Pogo charger... You should have zero problems charging with pogo when you are just reading and surfing on full brightness..
As long as you are using the supplied power adapter and no USB extention... If you need more length use an extention cord from the wall to the adapter, you can get one very cheap from any thrift store...
Thanks! On low brightness I found that it would charge while I was watching movies and playing some graphic intense games.

[Q] Quick Charging Question

Can anyone help me understand why any other charger I use on my G2 charges very slowly (and tells me so)? I will get a wireless charger soon and keep the regular one in my work bag, but just trying to understand why anything but the one that came with the phone is such a dog even when it is plugged into the wall. thanks
The G2 charger outputs at a rate of 5v at 1.8amps. any charger that has a lower amp out will charger the phone at a slower rate and bring up the slow charge warning on the phone.

And you need a USB 3.0 cable with a charger having 1.8+ amp output. I tried using my ASUS tablet charger which has an output of 2amps and it still says slow charging. I also bought an aftermarket USB 2.0 cable and used the OEM LG charger and it will show slow charging also.

Pogo pins charging at higher rate.

Recently my wife broke her USB port on her n7, so I decided to just attach some wire to the pogo pins as I know there was a ground and a 5v line. After I installed battery monitor, hers was charging at 1000 to 1300ma. Mine charges at 500-600ma.
Maybe my port is broken too I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm this?

Hi I use the dock to charge my n7. I have noticed a faster charging rate. However i do not know how to measure this

I also charge my nexus from a homemade dock at the 1000-1300 mark compared with my usb port. The usb port is so bad that most of the time I see it discharging while in use!!!
I believe this is a hardware fault as mine used to charge great through usb. at one point my usb socket stopped working altogether, I ran a soldering iron over it and it is at least working again, still slow to charge.
I have also been following a thread about this in the google user forums. One person stated that when they changed the usb board charging rates resumed to normal standards. There is a lot of people in that thread suffering from this. Bad show google.
Have you guys confirmed that the n7 charges faster off the pogo pins?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
It can charge just as fast off USB I know mine does I think the problem seems to be that the ports are easily damaged and it slows the charge rate

I have been following a thread on google forums about people suffering from poor charging rates. I can confirm that many users in that thread, myself included, have found that charging through pogo pins charges normally, whilst the usb charging takes forever and even discharges with screen on!!

is that with the provided 2 amp charger?
It is with a third party charger as my charger broke, but it was the same with the original.

The 5V oem charger output 2000mA. Any charger 2A should fast charge.
Also the pogo pin can charge on 12V 500ma (which is automobile acc. standart)
See more info on Qualcomm FastCharge Standart
There's a chip that identify the power output available. So a charger 1A charger will be identify by the device, therefore it won't fastcharge.

Hi,
Are you sure it's not the cable that is causing the problem? Does the device uses the whole current when charging from the factory wall charger? It's either this or your Powerbank doesn't give you the proper current.

using the cable on a wall chargee gives me 1200mAh average
1900mAh maximum
so i don't think it's an issue.
furthermore, I am able to chage an iPad using the same powerbank and it charges nicely.
i was just thinking i saw something in before where it changes the current from USB.
well thanks anyway. i guess i'll have to replace ny powerbank
