Is there or could someone write a windows mobile app that locks an app so that you have to use a password to launch the app. There is one out there but it is no the greatest. Any suggestions to apps I don't know about are welcome.
Okay, so here are a few questions I have regarding my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1:
1. I've noticed there is no file explorer. I tried DLing an apk, but I can't see it without the file explorer. What can I do? - Irrelevant. I downloaded a file explorer app which works great.
2. I've noticed that the default music app is the Music beta google app (that i've got on my SGS2). But for some reason it won't sync with my Google Music account. It doesn't even show up in the settings. What can I do?
3. Is there a fast way to sync all the android apps that I've got on my phone to the galaxy tab 10.1?
4. Is there no Honeycomb facebook app?
5. How can I delete / remove unused home screens? I have a few empty ones and I couldn't figure out how to remove them.
6. I can't seem to find a Hebrew keyboard that came with the device even though the device itself supports Hebrew (I can make Hebrew the OS default language)
7. Is there a way to close multitasking apps? In other words, can I close open apps that I see in the multitasking drawer?
8. I've uploaded onto the device a few videos, but the resolution is low and so I see it only in a little box in the middle of the screen. How can I fix that? I want to be able to see it full screen.
9. Can I make folders and put a few apps in them?
10. Is the Galaxy Tab 10.1's USB cable the same type as that of the iPad and the iPhone? If so, does that mean that I can use my iPhone's cable to charge it?
11. Should I download anything else that's worth having on a Honeycomb Tablet? Feel free to recommend apps
might have a few more as I keep playing with the device.
Thanks in advance for your help
1. Yup honeycomb did not ship with any file explorer. Use File Manager HD
5. You cant remove unused screens. Also you cant add additional
7. That is not a multitasking drawer. Think of it more of a recently used program list. An app can still show up in this drawer that is not running. You can't clear this list - however a reboot looks to do it.
1. I like ES File Explorer.

2. Search Google Music in the market, then click Update (kinda goofy you have to do it that way).
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.music
3. MyBackup will sorta. Doesn't backup settings for most apps though, so I find it kinda pointless, unless the phone and tablet are rooted, then Titantium Backup Pro would be better.

4. No, browser is probably better than the Facebook for Android app.
5. No.
6. Don't know.
7. Advanced Task Killer.

8. Moboplayer might work better.

First of all, thanks for the help
I've tried doing that, and noticed the following:
I can't find the "Music by Google Beta" app on the app store on the tablet.
If I try to DL it from the market.android.com on my desktop etc, it won't let me because it says I'm not in the US.
The main problem is that it doesn't even recognize it in the Application and Sync area like it does on my Galaxy S 2.
I want to be able to stream music.
This seems as good of a place as any for the dumb android newbie questions... I keep all of my bookmarks in my google account via the google toolbar for IE. Is there no way to use them on the tablet? I see the option to sync chrome bookmarks, but from what i understand they are different than google toolbar bookmarks.

Google Music Beta only available in the US at this time.
Looks like Amazon Cloud Drive might be restricted to the US only too.
AudioGalaxy is kinda cool, it streams music from a computer to your tablet, might be worth a look.
9. No folders on Android, no need for them. All your apps are kept in an app drawer in easy to find alphabetical order. And you drop icons to your home screen that you want.
10. No, the cable is not compatible with Apple's cable.

I don't know how the Google toolbar for IE works. But the tablet will sync bookmarks from the desktop Chrome browser (if you enable sync on the browser).
Here's my noob question: what the heck is up with the volume buttons. It seems three times out of four they seem to be going the wrong way. I haven't seen any comments yet on it, have been starting to wonder if it's just me

Well the button does feel like it's mounted upside down if you hold it in portrait mode with the power/volume buttons in the upper right side.
However I've never see a situation where 1 out of 4 times the buttons change. Sounds like it might just be how you are holding the tablet and accidentally pushing the wrong button? Which I think it easy because it does feel like the buttons should be opposite of how they really are. Especially if you've had an iPad, which is in the same spot, but flipped around.

Yeah, Chrome bookmarks are stored differently from Google toolbar bookmarks. I've read that one uses Google Docs, while the other uses something else. Google toolbar settings are tied to your Google account, and it's available for various platforms (but apparently not Chrome). I'm dumbfounded that I can't access them on a Google device.
I don't know how well or if it works on Honeycomb, but AnySoftKeyboard has a Hebrew option I believe. (as well as many other languages, even Esperanto )
I have another one... how do you turn down the ticks and beeps for keyboard and button feedback? I found 3 volume sliders, but none of those affect them.

There is a section for each keyboard with options for sound and vibration.

It depends on your Smart TV. If it's a Samsung some have BT for use with an external mouse and keyboard. Those that don't you can connect via USB (or use a wireless keyboard that comes with a USB wireless dongle). You can also use your SGS4's keyboard via the SmartView app from Play. Keyboards only work on Samsung controlled parts of the TV interface. They aren't recognized by a lot of the third party apps accessed via Smart Hub.
When you're setting up WatchOn, here's a tip. Don't go through the device set-up process. Instead, make sure the TV and your Samsung mobile device are on the same network and hit the icon shown below. It allows WatchOn to show content from your TV within the app assuming your Smart TV supports it.
This is all meaningless if your Smart TV isn't made by Samsung.
Thanks my tv is samsung, what im trying to do is... for example, watch youtube, and using the search, use my phone as keyboard instead of using the remote pressing the letters 1 by 1. Not sure if that made any sense... i set up the watchon but it doest have the "keyboard" function i was looking for.
RIght now im doing.. seach it on my phone then sync it to the tv-_-

Whatever you're trying to do on the TV has to be keyboard enabled; most non-Samsung apps don't support outside keyboard access and require you to use the keyboard that's provided within the individual app.
Here are two examples. The Web Browser and Samsung Apps support the Samsung keyboard.
If your phone has Smart View installed and is connected to the TV this pops-up whenever the TV's keyboard pops up.
The YouTube app doesn't support the Samsung keyboard so you have to use whatever's provided in the app.
Thanks for the detail explanation.

WatchON's pretty much useless outside of the TV function if you have a Samsung Smart TV. Smart View allows you to control all the other functions and Smart Hub including allowing you to use your device's keyboard vs. the onscreen keyboard. That's what OP was asking about.
Watchon with Cyanogenmod
is there anyway to get Watchon working and installed on Cyanogenmod? I have the APK, says not installed. help!!!!!
Watchon integrates IR remote with your tv program guide (if your cable tv is supported)
for youtube, I used to use youtube remote... an app by youtube to pair your tv and play the videos.
with recent update, that functionality is built in youtube app on the phone. in the app select "Play on" option and you can add your tv to the list.
No. Won't work on AOSP as is (would require major 'rejigging'/porting to get it to work if at all), requires Samsung framework.

Is it possible to uninstall the other Amazon app store and go back to the original one? If so, how?
You can uninstall Amazon app store and restart your Fire Tv and everything will be back to normal.
How did you get your Apps screen to view like an app drawer. Mine is in like ribbon formatting, and doesn't show any sideloaded apps.
EDIT; I have the Fire TV Stick if that makes a difference.
Installed amazing store now my showtime app won't open.. Says Amazon appstore:internal failure

I gave this a quick try and it does work, but I think the FiredTV launcher + Llama works better. Yeah, having all the apps on the main screen is nice, but using Llama and a sacrificial app (Classic TV) makes getting to all your apps only an extra button. What I don't like with the Appstore method is it changes the look of app info/purchase pages and is less remote-friendly.Both methods work well though.
I'm curious what would happen if you installed the tablet version of amazon videos. Would it alter the home screen too? Personally, I am annoyed with all the recommendations that saturate the home page. Give me a row of my apps, then a row of categories/genres, I like keeping it simple.

I gave it a shot, it didn't do anything additional. I liked having all the apps under the home menu, but it messed up the app description/purchase screen, so I went back to my Fired launcher with llama/Classic TV method.

He doesn't show how to install it. It's already installed and he navigates to it. Decent video, but would be nice if he showed how to get the key app installed in the first place. After some googling, I figured it out and got it installed.
My bad fluidj the one I watched showed how to do it just figured this one did
you can use this on windows

My method for viewing movies.
I have a linksys smart wifi router which i have a 2tb backup drive attached to it full of movies.
To view movies off it, i sideloaded ES file explorer and MX video. I then hit network/scan on ES file explorer and use MX to watch the vids. All kinds: divx, xvid, mkv,avi....
Do be cautious if you install Clean Master or better yet do not install it at all. I ran the app & after a reboot, all my settings, files were gone.
I purchased an app off the market to use on my phone. Does anyone know a way to install a paid app on the nexus player running lolirock?
My phone isn't rooted so I can't pull the apk from my phone.... =/
Of course you can, use APK Share from KN Inc (Play Store).

Oh wow, that's awesome! I didn't realize I could get an apk of a purchased app without root.
Thanks brandogg!
Just trying to do my part. I have Google Drive on my ADT-1, I just use "share" on the KN app and it's available within a few seconds or so. Bear in mind there will still be a handful of apps that don't work.
Also, you're probably already aware of this, but in your web browser (even on Chrome on the Nexus Player or ADT-1) you can go to play.google.com/store and search for apps then choose which device to send it to from there. There are quite a few apps that are completely compatible with the Android TV devices, they just don't show up in the Play Store app (probably because they don't have all the appropriate icon packs, etc). Saves a little bit of time that way.
