Recording music (guitar, bass, drums) - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anybody recorded or made any good tracks via the Mic on this phone? I'm wondering if it is low latency, and hoping to get some feedback before I drop some money on recording apps. I'd hate to spend that money and the Mic suck.

How to turn down MIC input when recording video?

Anyone know? Video quality is awesome but if I'm recording at a concert , the audio is clipped all to hell. I need a way to adjust the microphone levels...thanks!

Anyone? Sorry, I just cant find out and my friends are playing a show on Wednesday. I'd like to be able to record a decent quality for them. Thanks

yeah this would be helpful to do.. but for a ghetto workaround maybe throw a piece of basking tape over the mic hole for the show??
I was messing around with the dialer codes and found some settings that may help, but it doesnt seem to make any difference. I know there must be a way to do it

Adjust audio gain?

Is there any software or anything to increase audio gain in these devices? I'm using the stock ROM and when I plug a cable from my car into my headphone jack on it the sound doesn't get hardly loud at all. The volume is all the way up on the Transformer and yet my iPod is a lot louder than it is. Would using bluetooth be any better? My car doesn't have bluetooth but they sell a module just didn't know if it would. :/

Thanks! I'll give it a try tomorrow. Also I don't really know much about audio but would bluetooth be any better (quality wise) than using the headphone jack, or would there be no significant difference in that respect?
I have apps called "Equalizer" and "DSPManager" and they each seem to do the trick. Is there any advantage to one or the other (including Volume+ as well) though?

Microphone distortion

I think sometimes the Nexus 4 microphone is way to sensitive and gives incredible overdrive/distortion. Specifically at loud music concerts. All my videos are USELESS!!! My friend with his iPhone 4 right next to me records the same thing and his videos are AUDIO perfect. Mine are total crap. Any app that can control the microphone gain/level and quality???? Similarly to the Voodoo Sounds?
Any mod?
thanks guys
I have a similar problem I use the auxiliary cable in my car and I answer calls with it but people say they can't hear me, there has to be a way to mod the microphone

Any kernel with FauxSound will let you control the camcorder mic's gain. Turning it down should reduce distortion. Or if you are rooted you can install Ezekeel's Experience app which lets you control it on any kernel.

Video Recording at concert, poor mic. Any solutions?

I recently attended a concert and took my nexus 4 along with me to take some video recordings. After playing back the recordings I have realised the sound is really distorted. From looking around i've heard its an issue with the mic gain. Could i possibly use an external mic to record through the headphone jack? If so does anyone have any recommendations as to which I should purchase? Doesn't have to be anything special just so the sound is clear and reasonably priced. Also what app will allow me to record via the headphone jack?
Thanks in advance!
Just put your finger on the microphone while recording. It will be less distorted.

I tried that and although it is less distorted its not quite as clear as I'd like it to be.
Fact: microphone camera and speaker on stock n4 sucks.

Bluetooth audio correction?

I recently picked up a Bt35toy for hands free call and audio streaming in my car. The audio playback is extremely bad compared to my previous audio tape converter. Does anyone have an app that can correct the sound quality for streaming audio via Bluetooth. Currently the volume is significantly lower and it sounds as if the music is being played through a tin can.
Thanks for any ideas

Not sure if it's really a problem of bluetooth streaming quality. Maybe it's a problem of power of the streaming ?
Does the "quality" of the audio playback differs from time to time ? like when you move your phone ? near the receiver ? or when it is fully charged ?
Can you (or have you) tried with another phone ?
Finally, have you tried audio/volume booster apps ? or equalizer (Viper/DSPManager/...) ?
The receiver is mounted almost directly below the phone. I have noticed a difference in distance or charge power. I will try to pay attention to that. I think a volume booster would be helpful. I will see what I can find.

I forgot about this thread. Any other ideas for increasing the Bluetooth gain?
