Sony Z1S or LG G Flex?

Z1S is T-Mobile version of Z1 (do not recommend a phone with carrier logo because it's loaded with T-Mobile bloatwares and less supported by XDA developers)
I purchased international factory unlocked Z1 (C6903) last month to use on T-Mobile 4G LTE. I'm very satisfied with my Z1. :good:

C6903 as well ! You can grab it for $560 unlocked. Besides Z1s frame looks like its made out of plastic not aluminum
C6902 Z1.
Neither of those, as I already have a C6906, just waiting for my contract with Sprint to expire in about a month. Otherwise, I'd get a Nexus 5.

T-Mobile logo don't bother me, bloat I can remove it myself. I want to purchase from T-Mobile corporate store so if there's anything wrong with It, Tmobile will ship me the phone overnights without having to ship my phone out. Oh did I mentioned T-Mobile WiFi calling? .
So guys which one would you likely to purchased? Flex or z1s?

Oh come on bro,we're still in Z1 families don't hate. I've just watched z1s on YouTube for Tmobile it's identical to Z1 international.,I can't tell if the sides are plastic or not but I'm liking it so far. LG G Flex is too big, I think Z1S is mine mine mine.hehehe

The Z1S is a little bit cheaper and T-Mobile will actually give a hoot if you have issues with it. Unlocking/logo is not an issue—either we're set with T-Mobile or we know how to get it unlocked. Plastic sides are more comfortable and let's be real—most people are using a case anyway, so what's the difference?
I don't think development will be a problem because the internal hardware is most likely identical to the Z1. The only issue we might run into is getting root, but I'm sure it will be done.

Just called Sony to get a new charger for my ion and happened to ask about the Z1. Apparently they have a contract with AT&T and that more than likely it will be released to them, if not T-Mobile. This could be another 6 months from now, but for those of you, such as myself, who have AT&T i thought this was good news. Hopefully it will put Sony on the map and allow them to release more high-end phones in the US on major carriers.

I see what ur saying about not willing/wanting to pay $800 for this phone, but i've had my C6903 for about a week now on T-Mobile LTE and all i can say is that it's nothing short of AWESOME. It's the first phone in quite a while that feels premium enough to keep for a while... and i've had ALOT of phones (about 6 just this year). And did i mention LTE! And another plus of the unlocked version: bluetooth internet sharing right out of the box! :good:

Great to hear! It sounds like you got the LTE version in time since it looks like T-Mobile is going to carry it, but not AT&T. Just out of curiosity, what kind of download/upload speeds are you getting and where are you based? I'm in NY, and on AT&T -- when LTE was first introduced here, I was getting 30 down and 40 up, but nowadays, it's about 10 up and down. I may make the jump of carriers if the speed and network is OK.
Based on the EVLeaks photo, it seems it's a slightly modified version that will come out with T-Mobile, so, we'll see. Man, it's great being a consumer in a competitive market -- it sounds like Sony may be coming out with a new flagship in early 2014 using the WhiteMagic panel (http://www.androidauthority.com/jdi-super-bright-full-hd-displays-282810/) and with that one, hopefully Sony decides to go full force in the US. I'm also liking the rumors I'm hearing about the Samsung S5 thus far (water-resistant/proof, octacore, etc.). Decisions, decisions, decision!!!
where did you guys ordered yours? do you need an account on Sony to order one? or did you order it here in the States?
Thanks

Same here. Got a C6903 from Clove UK along w/the SW2 for free. i didn't opt for a warranty but take care of my phones.
so far it works great on Tmobile and good on ATT and 3G only. Tmobile you can get LTE/4G if you have it in the area.
Hello All,
After seeing how bloated some of the carrier phones are, plus longer update cycles, I decided to get an imported C6906 (Expecting delivery this week). I decided to ignore the Z1s. Do you guys know what if, any warranty service I could seek thru Sony in North America ? This phone isn't even sold in the USA so it's not like they've replacements laying around. I'm just very concerned they will turn me away If I have an issue. I currently have TMO but may need to switch to Att so the 6906 LTE bands made sense for me. Has anyone had to go thru this?
Also, I've seen mention of poor quality screens on some units. This is extremely concerning. Should I be worried about this?
I'm debating refusing delivery of the device so I appreciate any feedback.
LoL....good luck on sending your phone out for weeks to get it repair buddy. I'm getting Tmobile Z1S its because of the warranty.

I ended up rejecting the delivery of the device from UPS after not being able to get a clear answer from the folks at the local Sony store.
So all things considered, it seems that Sony has held out on the LTE flaghships (Z and now Z1) in order to avoid competing with T-Mobile.
Z1s it is I guess.
I've never bought a newly released International flagship phone before, so I'll be interested in knowing what's the best place to go about purchasing a Z2? This phone actually has me excited and I'll probably won't wait for a carrier version to show up, I'm sure I'm going to buy a International version. Is $800 about the right price one is expected to pay as I already see a eBay seller preselling them at that price.

Those in the US wanting the Z2 will have to wait until July. It will be available for Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. The international version D6503 supports all the US LTE bands and it will work on AT&T and T-Mobie with no issues. I will be importing mine since I don't want to wait for another 5 months.

USA is always late in the game, even Canada got the Z1 earlier than the states lol. So even if his source isnt reliable, I can judge from the launch of Z1.
TBH, you cant really blame Sony, it is mostly the carriers' fault. Like i said before, if you want a unlocked bootloader for custom roms and kernels, stay away from carriers' phones.

Hmm, I don't know... None of the US carriers ever had the Z1. T-mobile launched the Z1S variant about a month ago, but that's it.
I don't think Z2 will be pushed back for that reason. Actually, I'm not even sure if it will be available on US carriers. Maybe T-Mobile, eventually.
In the US, I think our only options will be:
- Pre-order from the UK and pray there are no defects, etc.
- Wait for US importers like Negri to get them (and probably jack up the price a bit)
- Wait for the Sony Store or web site to offer them. This is probably our best bet, but no idea when they'll actually have them.
- Or lastly, wait for T-mobile to release the Z2S with a locked bootloader about 1 month before the release of the Z3
Not to mention if the Z2 ever comes out over here the carriers might alter the design like T-Mobile did to the Z1s.. Plastic frame instead of aluminum..
Just looking to gauge the feelings of the z1s owners regarding updates. Given that we may never be able flash stock FTFs we will be waiting for an extra few months at least after the non-carrier phones get updates. Assuming we get any updates at all. It took 5 months for the Xperia z 6906 to get 4.2.2 after the unbranded devices. 4.3 is nowhere in sight. Of course updates are not the be all end all or we would all buy a Nexus 5, but it is dissapointing.
Accessories is another area where we are severely limited also.
I dont regret getting the Z1s, the $100 visa and PS+ offers alone made it a worthwhile purchase. Im happy with the build quality, camera and overall user experience.
Just looking for feedback from the owners here.
I think it will and my gut tells me it won't take us as long to get it as it did with T-Mobile Xperia Z owners. A few reasons I feel this was way.
1. Sony is really building a good relationship with T-Mobile. It seems to be growing more and more.
2. This phone is already selling better then the Z did for The-Mobile. More owners means more hungry customers awaiting the update, word of mouth.
3. Sony is doing more to expand brand awareness in NA.
Those all have a lot to do with the priority of the update. I say once the non-carrier branded phones get it, maybe 2-3 months later we'll get it? Just a guess...

These are all good points. I was on the fence about the Z1s and ultimately went and got the Z1 Compact instead from overseas. Anyway, one other thing I wanted to mention is that T-Mobile recently has been very good with updates. I have an LG G2 on T-Mobile which I purchased thinking there was absolutely no chance of timely updates. To my surprise, KitKat arrived on Friday and made my day. Know this isn't a Sony and I'm not trying to go off-topic here, but I have been very impressed with T-Mobile releasing updates over the last few weeks. Maybe the same will hold true for the Z1S. It would be horrible for them to drop support for it. I think the ball is in Sony's court at this point since none of the phones have KitKat.
-Collin-
All three are very great points. Admittedly I am not as confident mainly because I see Sony releasing almost one or two new phones per month and I fear they are stretching themselves thin on resources to push out updates. I believe their intent is 18 months of updates for Xperia devices.
Their T-Mobile relationship is an interesting one, I have to admit that I wasn't happy with the fact that Sony refused to release an unbranded LTE Z or Z1 in the US. I also couldn't understand why they were doing this. I think its now clearly obvious they did this to avoid competing with T-Mobile. I suppose they have to take steps to build relationships with the carrier but I was disappointed all the same to have to wait for an LTE version. It appears that the converse of this is also true in that any device that DOES make it into the Sony Store (physical or online) with LTE, is likely NOT going to end up on any carrier (think Z Ultra).
Personally, I think 5-6 months (after Z1) wait before we see KitKat on the Z1s. Nice to hear that it is selling well though.

Carriers have to get their act together. If the Z1 is going to get KK in April, the Tmobile version (almost exact same software) should get it no more than a month later. I might throw a fit if I have to wait till October. By then, 4.5 or 5.0 will be out!
At least let us unlock the BL so we can get KK on there ourselves. Sheesh.

I was planning to wait until the Z3 for my next upgrade, with the hopes of native wireless charging as that is the feature I wish for the most. I can say though that if we are looking at a 5+ month wait for Kit Kat, my Z1s will end up on eBay and will be the last carrier branded device I buy for a while.

The only thing I'll give to tmobile is that they have to implement wifi calling. At least thats some excuse. With ATT, Verizon, and all the other ones, they don't have to do anything but add bloatware that probably needed no change anyway.
Microsoft is doing it right as of now with their developer update program thing (I forgot what it's called). Opt-in, skip the carriers, and get your updates when the manufacturer releases it, not the carrier.
Those of you saying April 2014, have you seen anything from Sony explicitly state a Z1s timeframe ? (Link ?)
I've seen tons of articles/blogs talking about the Z, Z1, Ultra, Tablet Z etc. getting KitKat, but I have not seen anything mentioned about the Z1s.

I think I might be trading my Z1s in for an LG G2, or maybe a Nexus 5... When I bought this phone, I didn't expect it to be such a fringe device, with no Root, or unlocked bootloader.
It's a nice phone, with fantastic specs, 32GB, and a wonderful screen... but I'm getting a bad feeling about the speed of updates, and never achieving root.

besides we only just got jelly bean 4.3 in February
si id estimate a july-september kit kat launch
I know I know petitions never work but I have to at least try! Please sign and help bring the Xperia z5 to T-mobile! [https://www.change.org/p/sony-t-mo.../URL]

Won't happen dude, I'm sorry. A petition won't change such a large scale business agreement. Just buy the unlocked version, it should support the t-mobile cellular bands. Only difference with buying unlocked is that you have to pay the whole price of the phone out right.

And no WIFI calling. At that point, no reason to use T-Mobile.

Yeah the only problem I have with that is that my insurance/jump would be void with that phone. Anyone know of Sony's warranty? Is it a one year?

15 Months using eWarranty. It has been always 12+3 since 2011 or earlier
I bought mine through Expansys and they give 6 months, and for I believe $25 they give you a year warranty for a total of 18 months.
The Jump isn't a warranty. It's insurance and a trade in program. It is only voided when you use a non T-mobile device, adevice that isn't purchased new put on the line or the Original phone that isn't on Eip on that line. I swap through phones almost on a monthly basis.
