My favorite Rom is the TiramiSlim Rom. Bevor i flash that Rom, i change my Roms again and again.
The Rom TiramiSlim is very smooth and fast and very stable.
When you want to flash a Rom, try out the TiramiSlim Rom.
you can try cm9..slim...but i personally would go
for aokp...

I flashed a new ROM for the first time a few weeks ago.
I chose ICS333: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618757
I followed the step by step flashing guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637966) and everything went smoothly. I find battery life quite acceptable, better than with Gingerbread.
I am using tiramislim too. It is by far the best i have used & the customizations on this are amazing.
Very impatiently waiting for the final version.
Yes tiremislin v2 is good... Try it..

I also tried a few roms, I'm now with TiramiSlim 2.0 and so far... pretty good...:good:
CM9 latest nightlies + Devil or Semaphore kernel :good:
CM9 rc2 + devil kernel..so far satisfied..

TiramiSlim 2.0 & Sempahore kernel, fast-stable-smooth :good: the best
If you haven't chosen anything yet, I'll throw CM10 alpha in the pot. Really great for a Jelly Bean alpha build, you can really feel the butter .
SlimICS for me, I went from stock to Darky 9->11 I think, then Gamerz rom from 8->11 too and now I am on Slim ICS 4.2 and I have to say that it's light and smooth. Battery got a slight boost with proper tweaking too.

I think that the tutorial on androidauthority quite nice, I followed that to update my phone to slim ics.
Instructions are clear. Just go there (I can't post link yet I think) and search i9000 with root you should have plenty of tutorials, take one that ask you to upgrade to XXJW or something like that, then, it explain how to root it and install CWM. Once done, you have a based that can be flashed to any rom.
Thank you for the information, I'll check out the link and let you have the feedback!

Hi guys...
I have a N7 16Gb from october and I think thare's not a real reason to change the rom on this device...except the tablet ui and the general fun to make it!
Well...
I'm not here to ask you guide etc. but an advice.
What custom rom do you advice? many talk about Paranoidandroid but I try it on an old Galaxy Scl and it was pretty horrible and unstable...but on nexus seems the rom most supportend and with much more feature...
Or I'm attracted by the Dirk AOKP that seem pretty good....
Beside this....it's difficult also the kernel decision...
Franco Kernel? or M3 or Trinity? I'm not interested in overclock...
thanks to all in advance
no one?
No one is answering because there are a ton of these threads asked all the time. There is no best Rom or Kernel. Try searching and see what features you like or what sounds interesting and then just install it and see for yourself.
I personally like the Omega 3 kernel, OC is optional and it has just about every scheduler/governor you could possibly want. Performance and battery life are pretty much on par with the other top kernels. I haven't tried any ROMS mainly because the 2 I flashed ended up boolt-looping. So I am using the stock with some pretty major tweaks. I am a DEV on other sites and once I jump through the hoops to be able to post in developer forums I will be posting my own ROM. OC is for people who don't know how to optimize. *cough*

Modaco custom ROM (currently version Jr13) is light, mostly stock, extra features that help me are- prerooted, enhanced power menu, tweaked youtube app for video preload, enhanced quick settings panel, comes with gapps etc.
Modaco cyanogenmod custom ROM (currently version r4) consumes more processing power, based on CM 10.1 so has all its features, prerooted, more enhanced power menu(with screenshot and extended desktop options), tweaked youtube, enhanced quick settings(devoid of vol control), comes with gapps, comes with cyanogenmod file manager etc.
MCR Jr13 and MCMCR r3 are interchangeable with dirty flash so I get to retain all my apps.
M-kernel (currently a33 version) gives me ample undervolting option (lp, cpu, gpu, ram), and I can set minimum brightness with rootdim, so I can extend my battery life.

Don't know why people make thread to ask others what's best rom, kernel... Answers will be different from users and depends what they prefers, so it'll be difficult to make a choice because every answers won't be the same. What I did when i wanted to choose was reading threads and try by myself to see what I liked. Sorry if my answer will not help you to choose but it's the best i can advise you. Hoping you find what best suits you.
Phone: GT-I9100P
Kernel: Dorimanx
ROM: 4.2.1 Vanilla RootBox
Tablet: Nexus 7
Kernel: M-Kernel
ROM: 4.2.1 AOKP PUB
MOD: JusTunBean
Xenon
Im usin Xenon HD its a 4.2 rom (aokp base) and it's very customizable for your likes. You should give it a try.:cyclops:
If you are doing any ROM other than stock, I suggest AOKP for sure. It has a ton of mods for your ui and allows a lot of customizing. Make sure you get 4.1.2 milestone version and get your gapps as well or you won't have necessary files. Hope this helps look in the aokp official thread for download

thanks to all...
all advices are really usefull to understand the mod world...
I was intent to install an AOKP rom, but I don't really understand the difference...
I would like to try the the paranoid but i think is AOSP...
for AOKP I don't know what rom to try...I see the Dirty AOKP but I'm not sure....
There's also one called smooth ROM check it out, you should search YouTube to see if you like it. personally I'm back to the to the 4.1.2 stock rom because on aokp it wasn't allowing me to install some APK's from the play store that i really wanted. it said they werent compatible with my device when I knew they were compatible with n7.. I wish there was a way around that but nobody on here would tell me if there was or not when i posted a thread asking... anyways hope you find what you are looking for and I do suggest checking YouTube first for custom Roms for nexus 7 before flashing over hella different ones it would take less time, peace and good luck!

Hi!
Made myself a custom kernel with Boeffla-Sound engine 1.6 and core hot swapping al credits to andip71 and his Boeffla-Kernel.
Only tested with stock 4.1.2 EU version.
The only goal with this kernel is to have a ultra stable device with superb sound.
Download Boeffla Sound app from Play Store.
This kernel is rock solid have been using this for 2 month without any hickups.
Git:
https://github.com/joka90/samsung-gt-n8010-kernel
Download:

The usual, I dont take any responsability if you are using this.
Cheers and Happy Listening:good:
Any chance of a Changelog?
Thanks for taking this initiative!

Don't you think this should be in development?
Hello guys,
I am pretty new to rooting & installing custom firmware on my phone. I have done some research and i ended up giving a go to Matr1x from Mathkid95.
Could someone distinguish to me what is the difference between the two version mentioned bellow?
CFS – GPU OC
and
CFS – CM – GPU OC
What is the CM stand for?
I am asking this as I can only install the CFS – GPU OC on my nexus 4. When I try to install the CFS – CM – GPU OC the process finishes and the phone boots to the google logo but after that it soft bricks the phone and i need to flash in the stock image to make it working again.
I have done a binning on the CPU and i have the "fast" version if that helps.
Cm is cyanogenmod. It's a caf based rom, Google caf android. The cm kernel will only work on caf based roms.

Personally, for the Governor I use Ondemand, I/O to SIO. Use MSM Hotplug (not intelliplug), change Max CPUs boosted to 2, Max CPUs Screen Off to 2. And Undervolt as much as you can, but keep the system stable. Mine can go as low as -100mV for all, but keep [384,270, 162, 81] Mhz at 750mV. For me, when my phone is idle, even with LTE on, it'll only lose 1% per hour.
Your overall battery life will depend on how you use your phone on a daily basis. I'd prefer Greenify to keep apps asleep when they're supposed to be.
My settings may or may not work for you. They're just to guide you, so tinker with what you know and see what works best.
ak with crdroid
I can't use ak kernel with crdroid rom "nexus 4"

How do you import profiles in Synapse? I tried importing one of Gorilla P's profiles (from his Mako Stuff folder), but i get invalid file type. I've been looking all over for documentation, but can't find anything.
Thanks.

v246 on CM11S
Hello,
can I flash v246 kernel on CM11S, if not what should i do to get it working on CM11S.
Problem when using VPN server
I having problem while using vpn. No internet at all after the vpn connection are turned on.
I'm using AK R3 build on stock AOSP.
I get noticeable display enhancements on cm when I flash "AK.600.MAKO.CM". But however that's not the case when I flash "AK.R3.MAKO.CM" on the same rom or "AK.R3.CM" on any AOSP build. I tried changing the gamma calibration values but still no change. I want a stable kernel but I can't settle for a "white-ish" (normal nexus 4) display anymore after having used AK.600.MAKO.CM for so many months.
Could you guys help me around with this
