Not sure if this is the right forum for this request?
Anyways, I'd like to request that a Developer look into porting this feature for us.
Here are all the files & info for it on the Galaxy S3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171952
Basically, this lets you use the NFC tags for proximity rather than "tap's". So if you dock your phone, it is now touching the NFC tag and your setup engages.
Then when you remove your phone from the dock, it's no longer touching the NFC so your setup disengages.
No having to tap to "enable" and tap again to "disable". Which makes it super useful in many situations. :good:

Count me in for the request too, although I have the international version of Galaxy S-IV i9500. I do have some NTAG203 NFC tags and would love to have the use cases possible with such an app.
Thanks.

I have a case with smart wake up (poetic slimline) . It will wake up my N7 as soon as I open it but it will not unlock the screen.
Is there any possibility to unlock the screen and not only wake up the tablet?
i don't think so. Unless you find an app that does that. Or you can disable the screenlock.

Tasker can do that - along with about a bazillion other options. You can unlock the screen when you are connected to your home wifi, for example.
My tablet even puts out a snide comment when you lay it face down, and thanks you when you correct it...
Thanks rmm200, but Tasker can do it based on some other conditions like wifi connection, location and so on. I wanted to find a solution for unlocking only when the magnets are used to wake up the device.
Thank You.

Tasker sensor is magnetic field. I still think you can find a combination that works... Task is like unlock on wifi, but unlock on magnet instead.

Well I just saw that tasker indeed can read the magnetic sensor. But I did not find how can I configure it to unlock my screen
you could just disable the lockscreen in the Device Settings?
Just disable the lock screen.

You could put an NFC tag in your case & use Tasker to toggle the lockscreen on/off based on the presence of the tag when the Nexus 7 boots.

I got tags with the droid on them from http://tagsfordroid.com/ They are thick stickers & fairly inexpensive.
http://www.buynfctags.com has a variety of tags, including keyrings with tags on them. I have one on my keys & one on my backpack to toggle settings.
I haven't played with Tasker in a while so I'm not sure about the screen-on feature. It should be in there somewhere, perhaps screen time out set to "never"?!? Another option is to use NFC Task Launcher to toggle the setting. You'd have to tap it when you put it in & tap again when you took it out (or you could have a tag on your keyring to tap when you remove the tablet from your car...you'd pretty much always have your car keys with you at the time). I know there is a screen timeout setting (I requested it & the dev put it in 1 week later) but I can't remember if "never" was one of the options.
This post mentions the S4 having the Auto Unlock Zone feature which disables the lockscreen when you are on a trusted WiFi network:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204008
Auto unlock zone
You can add several "home" Wi-Fi networks and the lockscreen will be disabled when the Galaxy S4 hooks up to one of them. This way you can have a secure PIN lockscreen outside and a quick unlock at home or the office
I can't seem to find this feature on our phone. Does anyone have it working?
I dont see it. i have tried changing lock styles around as well as looking in the wifi settings. unless its in some other hidden corner in the setting menu it might have been something blocked by region or carrier for some reason. you could try asking in that thread and see if anyone can help out. update here if you find something out please. i think thats a pretty cool feature.

I dont see anything there that says how to turn this on?
I'd like to turn this feature on as well. In gsmarenas review it says its there but their review unit had a white settings menu. My guess is that it was removed on the production units. Hope it comes back in later firmware updates.
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s4-review-910p4.php
Has anything new been discovered about this? Not avail on my Sprint unit. Any way to get this feature on?
Looks like a lot of devices are missing this feature. In the mean time you can use HOME UNLOCK for free from the market.

I bought my nexus 4 yesterday. I rooted it and now after 2 days using it I have some questions:
1. Is it possibile to personalize the notifications center by adding buttons. I miss so much the silent mode switch button from my galaxy s 2 with android 4.1.2
2. Is it possible to automatically search for contacts from the phone screen typing the letters of the contact we are searching for. In nexus 4 you can search for contacts only by the search screen
3. It seems that the only way to make lock screen appear is by pressing the lock phisic button. Is there an althernative method?
thank you guys
1. Download POWER TOGGLES from play store and you can have Data, Wifi, BT, Screen rotation, Torch, Volume changer to hi-lo etc.
2. Not exactly that but you cn download exDialer and search contact by clicking alphabets which are on numeric keys.
3. I NEVER use power button to turn screen on and off. Rather I use Screen ON & OFF app from play store.
And I am not rooted.

1. Many customs roms allow this. I recommend cyanogenmod or paranoidandroid (link in sig).
2. You can do this from the built in contacts/People app.

The touch control features are not ROM related. You will need a compatible kernel. The touch control app offers you a stock kernel with module support to enable the slide2wake features. Or you can flash another custom kernel like francokernel or trinity, they also support touch control. The stock CM10.1 kernel does not support touch control.

can u tell us a app that doesn't use proximity sensor for locking and unlocking phone and DOES NOT require root. In short app that have features like tap to wake, slide to wake but without needing root?
To avoid using power button for screen off (I Hate using power button) there are couple of options.
1. Touch control - But I think requires root and specific kernel
2. Lots of apps which give shortcut on screen to sleep
3. I dont know about stock but some ROM provides go to sleep option in toggle shortcut
4. There are apps (Intellicover, tap tap app, smart screen off, smart cover) which uses proximity sensor to do that. Either Tap or hide etc in option to do that.
Recently I bout flip cover for my N4 and using smart cover app which works great. Wakes up and sleep with cover open and close. I removed lock screen too.

I use the app attached in the SC. It has tap to wake or wave.. BUT that too on proximity sensor. But trust me it works absolutely perfect. Been using it since Jan 2013.

There was one of this name.. I used it initially but it didn't work so I deleted it. Then I started using Screen OFF and Lock (Donate). However you can use its free version Here.
And for waking up the phone without using Power button, I use Smart Screen ON.
Screenshots attached for reference. I am also attaching an extra SC to show Power Toggles.
Hit Thanks, if this helped ppl
Hi guys. I tried the "non rooted" version using Smart Screen ON for waking up and "the rooted" version with Touch Control. I can conclude Touch Control is a way better because Smart Screen ON makes the phone wake up and unlock when it is in the poket. How is you experience?

Is there any way for me to toggle bluetooth via the quick toggles without having to unlock the lock screen?
This was an option on CM roms and I checked for xposed module but the ones I found don't work
I simply want to turn on or off bluetooth without requiring to unlock every time?
I mean if it allows me to slide down the toggles I just want the additional step of them actually working
See video for what I mean

Thanks for any help
anyone?
I'm interested too, but I didn't find a way so far.

Would love if I was able to do this.

I know on cm roms it was an option to allow toggles when locked
Dont see any security risk in allowing toggling of Bluetooth. Obviously pairing is a different story.
I mean if you can add trusted devices when locked why not trusted toggles
Guys, I'm sharing few tips to enable S-Pen features on CM/AOSP based ROMs for Note series devices (works like a charm on Note 4 & Note 3).
The S-Pen feature is sorely missed by the users of Note Series and there are certain apps available on PlayStore which restore the maximum possible functionality on above mentioned ROMs. However, since these apps are not known by many, I've decided to make a thread which can benefit users who want CM/AOSP based ROMs without loosing the S-Pen functionality.
Hence, here are the steps:
1. I've tested this on recently released CM 14.1 ROM by @hsbadr for Galaxy Note 4 and it works flawlessly. Do checkout his ROM & appreciate his work by thanks and/or a donation.
2. Install following apps from the PlayStore:
a) CM S-Pen
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tushar.cmspen2&hl=en
b) Note Buddy
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tushar.spen_helper&hl=en
c) Screenshot Crop & Share
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flextrick.universalcropper
d) Sketchbook
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adsk.sketchbook&hl=en
e) Scrrenshot Ultimate (Optional as Screenshot Crop & Share is good too)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.screenshotultimate
3. It is recommended to install SuperSU as well because some apps may not work well with in-built root of the ROM. (I used Emotion AOSP in the past with in-built root and the apps did not work properly but with CM 14.1, apps work fine with in-built root. So, test your options. For some it may work & for some, it may not...)
4. Also, due to SELinux policies, a problem might occur that may hamper apps functionality. So, for that an app called SELinux Policy Changer (not available on PlayStore because of Google's policy, but available on XDA) can be used.
5. Open CM S-Pen AddOn app & tap on "Detection Disabled" to change into "Detection Enabled".
6. Open Note Buddy App & tap on "S Pen" tab. Enable this feature & then tap on "Auto Launch" menu.
Enable it. Tap the button below that says blank+ and choose Application Shade. Give it a name as per your liking. Close out the window & then Pull out the S Pen. Tap on the + symbol in the top right hand corner & tap on applications and add Sketchbook. Tap on shortcuts and add Take Screen shots for screen-write. Also, tap on shortcuts and add Take Screen shots for screen-write.
7. For S-Pen sounds, take a look at the below thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474218
(Since I don't use sounds for S-Pen, I've no experience on how it sounds or work)
8. Open the Screenshot Crop & Share app & enable all the permissions that it needs. For simplicity, you can use "Floating Bubble" feature that places a bubble (similar to FB's Messenger Chat Head) which will let you to take a screen-shot with all the available features with just a click.
9. If you want a pointer for your S Pen then it can be enabled through phone's settings under Language & input. Scroll down to the end of the page & enable "Show icon when using Stylus" for a pointer.
10. Screenshot Ultimate is full of features but it might give some errors to some users or some users might find it bit finicky to use. So, I would suggest to use Screenshot Crop & Share.
For setting up Screenshot Ultimate, open the app. Let SuperSU give it root access. Next, the app will take a minute to set itself up. After it is done, click on Triggers and scroll down to custom shortcut and open custom shortcut settings. Select as follows:
When clicked----------> Take Screen-shot
After screen-shot---------> Edit
Notifications--------->Vibration, sound & toast
Timeout----------> 1 second
Go back to the app's home screen & scroll to settings and open open "General Settings." Change format and quality to your liking. Scroll to timeout and click Disable all timeouts. Close the app.
11. For performing the screen-shot writing:
Pull out the S Pen & once the window opens, click on Take a Screen-shot. After the Screen-shot, a screen titled EDIT options should pop up. Click on Draw. Draw something. Click on settings and save it. Click on view and open it in your gallery. From there you can share it on any app as per your choice.
That's all.
Start using S-Pen features on CM/AOSP based ROMs with ease.
In case of any issues, write in comments section & I'll try to help you out in minimising them.
If everything works, don't hesitate to hit the "Thanks" button.
