Hey guys I have been looking all over the web to find a way to get my fascinate completely back to stock. Here is the story...
Removed tons of verizon crap and had a perfectly great phone for about three weeks. I did a data wipe/factory reset to install voodoo kernel and everything worked. I installed a rom (which I dont blame) and my phone boots to the touch wiz force close loop. I would imagine it is trying to load crap I have removed. I can boot into clockwork, but adb does not recognize at this point. I load my backups buy I dont have one with stock apps. Is it possible to find a flashable stock kernel/rom/everything. Im fine with re-rooting I just cant figure this out.
also I found a system dump. Can someone give me the command to push that to sd card just in case I get adb going again.
Please help. Thanks
I can't post the URL because this forum prevents new users from posting URLs..
But try to google the phrase "force close he-double-hockey-sticks" and you should see a thread over on android central that has a solution for you.
Thanks ill check that out after work. I have managed to get the phone operational, but I can not use apps. Every single app FCs. I also can't download from the market. I believe it has somehing to do with voodoo not letting me write to the system memory. I dunno....I just want to get back to stock, reroot, and freeze apps instead of uninstalling.

It's a short process to go to stock with Odin, and then work back up from there. I did it when VooDoo hit and the whole thing took me about 2 hours, including pulling the bloatware, restoring apps, and overhauling my screens with custom crap. To stock, root, and freeze you're talking maybe 30 minutes.
BTW, not to be an ass, but looking is alot faster than posting. Before you reply and say you did, the threads for all this are front page in the development forum. Like two mouse clicks from here.
There's nothing recent on here, so I'm looking for what the masses are saying these days. I'm stock rooted, but I want to try MF9, I know I can't really "try" it as it alters EVERYTHING. But I hear good things, I also think that 4.3 isn't too far behind an I'd like to be ready. The only reason I'm rooted is for ad block. This phone is just that sweet, but the slight lag in the keyboard appearing is supposedly fixed in MF9.
What's the simplest way to go back to stock and get the update? Also, off the record...does Helium really back up my text messages properly?

I haven't tried Helium yet, though I did download it but I use SMS backup+ to backup my text messages. You can schedule automatic backups and restore your text easily.
There's a thread in development, by Mudavo I believe, that has pretty explicit instructions for returning to stock and then updating to MF9. It's definitely worth it.
Good luck!

This is the way to flash back to 100% stock. Fresh. Out of box state.
These threads are out of hand. Thanks for answering his question ESO.

That doesn't seem particularly simple, but I'm going to try it. I don't want to be prerooted. I want to go full stock basic and stay that way. This phone is just that great, and with the software quarks that it has, I think it may be smart to keep it that way for awhile.

The link above is the tar file for stock MF9. If you just use the link for the from the first post you just need to download the first file (not the kernel). Once downloaded you need to extraxt that zip and you will get a .tar.md5 file from it. Later open odin and make sure only auto reboot is checked. Click on the PDA slot and find the .tar.md5 file you downloaded click on it. Next put your phone into download mode and connect it to your computer. Wait for it to install drivers and you will see a yellow box with "com:[some number]" (or a blue box depending which odin your using] once you see that click start and from there let it do its thing and whoola you have your phone back to MF9 stock. Good luck!

I tried flashing X-Note 6.0 and things have gone sour from there. I keep getting bootloop, i'm able to do initial setup until it asks me for gmail, once i input my address, it pulls my name and when it asks me to confirm it, it restarts the phone. Then im able to finish setup, but as soon as i'm back and i reboot again, im stuck in infinite bootloop.
I tried reverting back to stock via odin, but i got bootloop again, fortunately for me, after about 1h, it booted back into OS and i was able to root and reinstall twrp.
I dont have a backup of my EFS, again i'm not even sure thats the real problem, can anybody please help?
EDIT: On stock the bootloop is not infinite, after about 10 minutes the phone eventually boot back in OS

Please help me someone. I tried the EFS fix here with no success. I tried to restore via odin, factory reset, every time i finish initial setup and restore my apps and reboot, it bootloops.
Shot in the dark, but disable auto installing of apps/restoring apps. Could be that it is triggering the bootloop due to an incompatible app with X-Note.
If no good. You gotta be brave and strip that badboy back with a full wipe/dalvik/cache, reflash your stock image (get shot of recovery also) then see if it can get past the bootloop (don't forget to remove your SD Card also if you have one) - Give it shot, see what you come up with.
Also if you're on an N9005 model, head over to Djembays thread and grab an image of him, seems to have gotten a lot of people out of issues (JayTheNut uses his images when he messes up) -
Lemme know how you get on, I'll have a nose around see what else it could be.

I dont think you read the thread. I'm not on xnote anymore, i'm on stock firmware, MJ4, i also have a W8 and the EFS script fix is for international version. I've odined back to stock and all the issues i'm having are also present on stock firmware

Ah ok, so that changes the playing field a little. - Give @CalcProgrammer1 a Message, he uses the W8 and the guy certainly knows a thing or two about it. All I can think of at this time.
EDIT: actually thinking about it, you haven't upgraded your bootloader by mistake have you?
I have a feeling background WiFi scanning is enabled in Settings -> WiFi -> Advanced - I don't think any of the newer ROM updates ever managed to have that not bootloop your phone on reboot. In case you're stumped and can't find the setting, you'll have to hit the menu key on the WiFI screen.

I dont think so, unless flashing Xnote 6.0 or using odin to restore stock does that. Thats pretty much all I did, but i think i might have done something that might have fixed the problem, i'm not sure yet, but i'll confirm shortly

I use the N900T (T-Mo) version, though I guess it's pretty similar to the W8. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the efs side of things on the N900T or equivalents. I've been avoiding the backup and restore functionality in TWRP since it was widely reported to cause bootloops in the first few weeks after release anyways. Have you tried the bootloop fix method over at the T-Mobile N900T forum? I forget what the process exactly was but people reported great success using it (including those who intentionally recreated the problem to test the fix). I did have a similar boot loop issue on my Note 1 which was fixed doing a complete Odin restore with a full factory image (bootloader, system, modem, kernel, recovery, etc. - the entire complete factory restore). I don't know if such a package exists for the N900W8 and that's something I wouldn't use the wrong variant's version of.
odin was one of the first thing i tried, as mentionned the problem was on 100% stock device. Now i've tried formating SD cards and i was able stop the bootloops but now instead i get a worse problem when my phone keep giving me force closes and everytime i dismiss one, another one pops back up and its just a FC Loop:crying:
I have an W8...I also had terrible boot loop problems and I can't quite remember the cause, but this is what fixed it.
Obviously I can't stress enough to read this and type this in very carefully, and that if your phone stops working, turns into a robot, explodes, or tries to kill your dog I'm not responsible .
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Hit "Advanced" Select "Terminal Command"
3. Hit "Select" (lower right corner)..Do not select any specific folder, just hit select..
4. keyboard will open, type in the following commands, make sure you put the spaces and / where they need to be, it needs to look exactly as outlined..
mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p12
Hit Go - The command will run.
Clear the box, type the following command
mkdir /efs
Hit Go - The command will run.
Clear the box, type the following command
mount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 /efs
Hit Go - The command will run.
Do a factory reset, reboot system
Can't remember where I got this from, only saved the text not the forum >.<

Hey dude i think xnote 6 is mk2 based, so what basically is going wrong is that you're trying to downgrade your bootloader. please try flashing an mk2 stock rom ( or an mj7) via odin, that should fix it ..
just my 2 cents
Hi guys i tried everything my phone was in a constant state of bootloop and wouldnt connect to any carrier. Then i came across this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2567133 and now my phone is working, still wont connect to a carrier but the phone is now stable which is a good thing. Hope this helps some of you :fingers-crossed:
Thanks for all the input, as of now, i was able to stop the boot-looping on stock rom, but I do still have major issues like i cannot install twrp, by goomanger it tell me its done but when i reboot into recovery, i end up in stock recovery. And yes, i'm rooted. Also i cannot format my SD card from the OS, it keep telling me the card is being checked all the time. I also have a lot of other small issues that should not be there on a fresh install. i honestly dont know what screwed up so bad but i will try some of the solutions mentioned above and report back.

Was happily on CM and for some reason decided to try stock kitkat. Did everything via tutorial and all went all well - but been getting some strange issues which has made my phone unusable.
When i press vol up/down it takes ten seconds to pop up. Sound does not work at all whether calling/playing music. Settings f/c when I attempt to click the sound menu. I believe everything else is working fine.
Tried reflashing stock firmware countless times... Tried flashing numerous custom 4.4 roms.
Australian bought phone if it makes any difference.
Please help as Im stuck using a spare iphone 4 and its killing me! haha.

I believe the best thing to do now is to flash stock ROM and make sure to full wipe everything even internal memory.
If you have external memory, back up what ever you think necessary to it, the remove it from the device and keep it out.
That clean start well give you a good indication whether the problem is based on a bad flash or there is something wrong with the device.
If everything is running smoothly, we will see about flashing custom ROM.

Yep its what ive done, reflashed stock completly and removed sd card. Still no dice - running complete stock 4.4 still with this problem.
Could this be an EFS problem?
If it were an efs problem you wouldn't even boot in most cases.
Can you describe how you flashed stock ROM? Maybe you did it wrong.

NEE region? - if so it has issues with 4.4.2, @nex7er had the same issues, and if you're using SweetROM I believe he pm'd not-i the fix for it. -- It can be fixed though.
Maybe completely wipe it (System, Data and all) and then Flash stock with Odin?
After kitkat upgrade.. if i use camera app such as camera 360 Or picsart, i can't save my photo to sdcard. It's error, Has anyone had or know how to resolve this problem???

I did post the reason on the last page what I think it might be...... if you're in a Nordic region or even have a nordic model it's a common problem, if you search around you'll see others that have the same issue (notably ne7xer). -- If it's not that, then it's a warranty job due to faulty HW
EDIT: you could try a complete wipe including re-partitioning, but that's a bigger job that you'd want to do in all honesty.

Could be my last option considering knox is tripped..
Got a link to a tutorial for re-partitioning?
Grab a PIT file for your device; - then you flash firmware with Odin / PIT file. - I have never done it, nor do I fancy doing it, but have a read (journeyman posted asking how and done it, it's in this section Q+A) - I can never remember whether you flash the PIT first then the firmware or both together. I wouldn't want to hazard a guess just in case though.
But if you've tripped KNOX, then yes, seems like it could be your last option, unless you have tried some various custom ROMs? ( I know sweetROM seems to be the master fix for any issues peple have on KK atm) could just be a stock issue currently that will more than likely get a fix at some point.
EDIT As yours is an AU phone, possible it could be a HK model? - from KOGAN? I know some AU users have had HK models from them.
EDIT2: When I flashed HAL ROM, @theresident stated in his how to OP that we needed to format /system during install - It's possible this may also fix it, but that wipes your entire system obviously and *IF* it doesn't boot up you then have issues
EDIT3 : quote from HAL ROM OP
Instalation:
1. Copy the zip to the phone
2. Reboot to Recovery/CWM
3. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
4. Wipe Cache
5. Wipe Dalvik Cache
6. Mounts and Storage then click "Format /System" (This won't delete any of your data)
7. Install.. wait one minute and ROCK !!!

You are hijacking.
Anyway,
1. Install es file manager or any file reader with root.
2. navigate to /System/etc/permissions
3. open "platform.xml" file to edit
4. look for the stack that has "WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE"
you will find something like <group gid="sdcard_r" />
5. make sure these lines are there, if not, add them
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
That's it
Hey everyone I know you all probably get fed up helping noobs out and I do apologize in advance but have no idea what to do. My daughter has had gt-i9505 for a year and a half now she had an update about a week ago that she did. And now the phone was having sound problems and seems very unstable not sure if update has anything to do with it. Looked around the net tried a few different things did nothing serious just cleaned headphone jack and wiped cache nothing seemed to work. Just to say the phone was on 5.0.1 Now she has wanted me to root and install philz touch recovery for a while now but didn't really want to incase something went wrong. So given that all these problems were happening I decided I would do it for her and It all went smoothly so then I put new rom on it for her and that seemed fine to but sound problem still there and still seems very unstable is there any suggestions you guys can think of to fix it, would be greatly appreciated CHEERS :good:
Try flashing back to a completely stock rom using Odin.
Stock ROMs can be downloaded from sammobile.com.
Your best bet is to odin restore, if issue still pertains, then you have a problem in hardware, if you don't want to restore, then root device flash twrp, and factory reset there, if you have further questions, Google rooting flashing and bootloaders.
Just to say thanks to you guys I think back to stock is the only way cheers
Hey everyone just to say i have flashed back to stock now but no change even tried to update and still no sound,I even found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612167 and tried what they said and know go just notice now when i hit the volume control at all it crashes the phone. Hey guys hypothetically if it was a hardware problem and i wanted to get it fixed is it hard to reset the knox counter?
Still no luck it seems to have gotten worse touch wiz has stopped and wifi won't turn on what the hell is happening?
I would try flashing the latest stock rom and perform a factory wipe before booting the rom for the first time.

OK now i get what your saying before it starts, but do you not have to let it boot up for Odin to say pass and turn green?
Open Odin, uncheck everything except f.reset time. Flash the rom, when you see the word reset in the status window, remove cable from the phone, remove battery, wait 5 seconds, insert battery, use button combination to boot into stock recovery, factory wipe, and reboot.

Let us know how it goes. I suggested flashing a stock rom and wiping because, if it still doesn't work properly, it could be a hardware issue.

Your daughter seems to know more than the average one Either that or kids just grow up fast these days!
It's highly unlikely that a software update would interfere with the phone's sound imo. How was the update done, e.g. wifi?
Me thinks your problem is hardware related. Also, you mentioned something about downgrading from 5.0.1 to 4.4. This might have something to do with your sound woes.
And then, once root counter has been tripped, there is no way to un-flag it. I believe there might be a way "trick" the counter to show "zero" but I haven't personally ever bothered to try it out.
Personally, I think it's the phone's hardware :good:
Hope you didn't get too much conflicting answers.

Now regarding the downgrading from 5.0.1 the sound problem had already started on 5.0.1 only thing I done from that point forward was to root it an put philz recovery on it and then tried a custom rom to see if that would help which it did'nt sound prob still there, after that i was advised to try reverting back to stock then i downgraded to 4.4.2 stock to see if that would help no luck, just a question when i was rooting i was reading about triangle away does that not reset the counter?
