I am looking for a new alarm clock app and there are too many to go though and try a new one every day.
What alarm clock apps have you found and liked enough to use as your daily alarm clock? and why?
alarm clock plus has been my go to for a couple different phones now. and can be found here
Try the new free app by Timely...
Stock... Always works even through silent/vibe schedules. Just stable and works perfect for its purpose.

I use the LG stock one as well. Havent had a problem with it.
Timely is the best. It's a beautiful app.

+1 on Timely. Only downside is u gotta use the sounds built into the app.
Sent from Verizon logo plastered G2 bastard
Another for timely. I actually like the included alarms too, and the Smart rise feature.

Thank you everyone.
Timely Alarm Clock is very nice.
Good looking app and has a Smart alarm that starts 30min before your alarm time.
I also liked the optional match the shape challenge to turn the alarm off, it beats complex math problems and unreadable captchas.
Only wish it would have an option to use Pandora as the alarm sound.
Going to stick with Timely for a while, but still open to other suggestions.

I use HD widgets for my homescreen clock and it connects to the stock clock.
Pandora has an alarm clock in it now.... But Timely is still better.

I'll throw in with Timely users as well. I liked it enough that I bought it before Google bought Bitspin and it went free. In addition to looking great and providing device sync, wake up options, and themes it also works with Google Now functionality. Needless to say I've had the stock clock disabled for a while now.

I just bought the phone after having a Motorola Razr i.
The stock alarm that I want to use always did a strange thing this morning.
It played the song I set but after about 2 minutes it snoozed itself without touching it. I let it be and after let's say about 30 minutes it cancelled itself. Is this normal? Is this to avoid battery drain???
I like the stock alarm but right now using the google clock for my alarm.
side note - does anyone know what app the stock music player is?

Hi all - does anyone have a music widget for the galaxy tab? After a really simple one which can have a 60% opacity background (Want it to match my home screen)
Seems my Galaxy tab doesn't have one stock, which is annoying.
One like the one on the dell streak would be good.
Any ideas?
Cheers
would love to have one of this too, the one with the whole screen, just for the hell of it ^^
saw it once on sense or somewhere, but its definitely out there
like this..
like this music widget you mean??

available to download from the market, PURE MUSIC WIDGET ..

I like Mixzing, they have 3 diff sized widgets a full screen, mid sized, and a simple bar. I don't think you can lower opacity, but i think you can skin it if you buy the full version. Amazing music player & Video player as well, doesn't eat your CPU either.
these are all transparent widgets

Try Music Mod from the Market. It is modified standard Android music app and it has widgets. If there only were controls on the Lockscreen it would be even better.
That's exactly what I posted
I use power amp best one on the market in my opinion n has 5 diffrent widgets well worth the $
Got what I was after in the end
how?
how did you get the genie google weather widget to go transparent ?

why don't you try Winamp for Android? it's free in Market and has also a nice widget....
So does PowerAmp.
its not actually a widget, but the shake2play next app works well for me. I just launch after my music app and whenever i want to skip a song, i gently shake the tab once and it either shuffles or skips to next song. Great for me when im listening to music and don't want even open my tab

Kind of strange, I'm using JT's super clean rom and I just bought the dock for my fascinate. It was automatically launching aosp desk clock. I decided to copy over the stock desk cradle app into system and now when I dock the phone, nothing launches. The other issue I'm having is it doesn't force the phone in landscape mode like my old droid dock did and it bothers me because I only want launcherpro to be in landscape when docked. I tried to remove the aosp desk clock thinking maybe you can't have 2 apps handle it but that didn't solve it, also it would have prompt asking which app to launch. I'm not sure how android handles the dock event or what program does, but I would like to figure out how to restore this. I tried using tasker to control orientation settings but it doesn't seem to have enough flexibility to detect which app is in the foreground.
I also have the dock cradle. I used the stock desk clock for a while, but I hated it.
I settled on using the Alarm Clock app. I didn't have to do anything special to get it to work except making sure the Android News & Weather app was installed. I was never asked which app to launch, but I believe I uninstalled the stock one after a while. I had up to 3 desk clock apps installed at one point while testing them all and I never had an issue.
I only use portrait mode for my launcher (currently Go Launcher, but usually TouchWiz). The Alarm Clock app had no trouble switching from portrait to landscape no matter what my launcher settings were.

Tried it
Tried it, but it still wouldn't work. It's weird, it's suppose to detect when it's docked and launch the default dock app, but nothing launches at all. The home button will bring me to my default launcher, and the orientation as I mentioned won't change. I only installed desk cradle and after that it stopped working completely. I'm trying now to reinstall the aosp clock and remove desk cradle. Hope it at least works with that again.
I'm having the exact same problem. Please update the thread if you find a solution.
Sort of fixed
Well, I got it sort of working again. It now goes to the aosp clock and the home button also brings it to it. It doesn't fix my orientation problem so I'm going to learn to deal with allowing rotation in launcherpro. So you need to remove both the deskclock and deskhome from /system/app, then using rom manager flash the aosp deskclock zip from sonofskywalker, then you should have the aosp deskclock working with the dock. I still haven't figured out how to get the stock desk cradle to work, maybe it's the way JT's supercleanrom handles it? It came with aosp stock apps and lockscreen by default, I had to flash back the puzzle lock and other stuff. Wish I knew more about the android operating system and how things really worked...
When I'm charging or docked I want the phone to charge as fast as possible so I don't want the screen or anything on at all..even if its a minimal clock.
Likewise Google has disabled the LED when in daydream mode so apps like LiteFlow don't work.
I'm missing the point I guess. A computer with a screensaver is one thing..but a phone we're trying to squeeze battery life out of doesn't seem like something you'd want daydream on.
The only way this would make sense to me is if Android had an option to 'daydream once phone fully charged' and then it can display currents or a clock or something.
Thoughts? Am I missing something?
You got me. Screen saver for a phone... which I want off when I am not looking at it? Guess it is just one more bullet point on the feature list for the boys in marketing (like 1080p).

As with a lot of things, it's all about preferences.
It *IS* something I want; I like seeing the clock when my phone is on my desktop dock. I have all the time in the world to charge.
I do agree the "daydream once fully charged" option would be a nice addition.
Just another feature that isn't used but marketed to consumers. Kinda like face unlock or the front facing camera. Will people use it? Yeah. But the large community won't be.
I've had a front facing camera for along time now and have yet to use it. I played around with it and that was that. I'm not saying that it's an useless feature but it's mainly used to market. Same goes for face unlock

I had pics of my nieces... kinda nice to have on your desk. Although after a while it got a little distracting... and I felt a little bad about putting those pictures away to actually use the phone , so I removed the feature.
It might look nice in a docking station or the like...otherwise I don't really see a point.

Exactly. It's for when you put your N4 on the google charging Orb.... oh wait.
I disabled daydream on mine. Even when (if) the orb comes out, I doubt I would use it. There is a computer right where I would put it so it seems a bit redundant.
I could see it being used as a photo slide show though (as mentioned above)
:good:

Apologies... Guess I'm missing the point of your concerns. If you don't want daydream then turn it off. There's a on/off switch for it in the top of the setup for it.
Can i add the S3 Alarm app? (o replace N4 stock)? as it's more functional & usable...
Hi, it's been over a month as i have replaced my S3 LTE with Note 4, and one thing i'm VERY unhappy with, is the changes they've made to the stock alarm app. Here are the changes i've noticed:
1) background is now white, which actually decreased visibility. i thought i would get used to it, but i can't.
2) fonts are now bigger and slimmer - also harder to focus.
3) alarms now DO NOT change background to let you know if it will be dark (or no) at that time (actually very useful feature)
4) stopwatch/timer - changed font, changed digits, i found the readability is worse now.
5) world time - no more flags, and i thought the readability was better in the previous version too.
6) next alarm is no longer shown in the lockscreen! this is a big problem (you don't see easily if it is set correctly or no).
another thing is that i really enjoyed the S3 app every moment i used it, and with the new version it's the opposite.
here are the screenshots to illustrate:

}
my questions are:
is it possible to copy the S3 alarm app and use it as a primary one? (for stopwatch it's definitely more useful, and i use it frequently on bike trips)
is it possible to totally replace alarm with the previous version? (if i'm not mistaken, it also has a service running all the time, so just copying might not be enough)
any way to fix missing next alarm on the lock screen, without installing any 3rd party apps (which will decrease security)?
thanks!

Its stock android, Not samsung.
If you must have the one from S3, download stock S3 rom, inside app folder there is an app called clock.apk or something similar. You can try to install it on note 4, if it fails samsung must have put some copyright stuff on it.

is there an easy way to fix that?

I am using Alarm Clock Plus and if the sound is set to 'do not disturb' the alarm won't sound. I have it set to on to allow the alarm to sound. It happens for the morning alarm. This morning when I unlocked the phone then it sounded.... (30 minutes after it was suppose to sound)
Any ideas?
Do you have that specific app set in the priority app notifications section?

I'll try that. I did today turn off power saving mode completely. Tomorrow I will have two alarm clocks set... Lol
I had the same issue with timely. It was because I hadn't launched it on several days and it had been automatically set to save power. Had to set that to off so my alarms would sound.

I was experiencing the same issue with Alarm Clock Plus. You have to turn off automatic power save in order to get the alarm to sound.
I read on the nexus forums that marshmallow has a dozen feature that messes with aftermarket alarm clocks..app developer's have not fixed it...the cure was to have in on the charger and it would work

I was able to get the aftermarket alarm to work without being plugged in. I had to set the stock one prior to aftermarket one. Lol why even bother.

This is exactly what I ended up doing. Set the stock alarm 1 minute before my app to wake the phone up. My alarm wasn't sounding even trying all the other ideas... plugged in, priority notification, no auto powersave, and I don't even use Do Not Disturb.
