Hi, I have a i9505,
I used to be able to just turn my my phone to vibrate/silent and the camera wouldn't make a shutter sound. Now it does (might have happened while coming back from another rom to stock rom).
I have tried to rename (I'm rooted) Shutter.ogg and rename it to Shutter.ogg.bak and same for Shutter_multiple.ogg.
Did not work.
I also tried to download an app which should remove the shutter sound, I thought it worked (this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.akirilow.tool.cso)
What else can I try? Thanks

Thanks for moving the thread
I changed the variable to TRUE and the option popped up in the settings menu after rebooting. But it actually doesn't do anything when I click on 'off', the popup goes away and it's still on 'on' when I check back. So the shutter sound is still there.

Hi,
I found that it was not very reliable, but it did work occasionally.
Try switching it on and off a few times, and reboot.

[Q] Android stock Lock Screen in 2.2 - changing "vibrate" slider back to "silent"?
So I just renamed the "HtcLockScreen.apk" file on my Desire (LeeDroid rom) to have the default stock lockscreen (which I like better), and it worked.
However, I've noticed that the right slider only switches from "Normal" mode to "Vibrate". However, I never use the vibrate mode, and I'd like to make it switch to "Silent" mode instead of vibrate (in fact I've read that's the way it worked in Android 2.1).
Is there any way to change that? Any possible hacks? Or at least make it rotate through silent/vibrate/normal? I don't want to place additional widgets on the lockscreen, just making it work with the default slider which I like a lot.
Thanks in advance.
Nobody?
sorry but i dont have a solution but just to ask i also renamed the htclockscreen.apk to htclckscrn.apk and rebooted but nothing happened
could you you tell me how you did it (A)
Im with you op. I dont like vibrate mode because it still wakes up me at night on my bed stand. Toggling between silent and normal would work perfect for me. As a result I keep my phone in the living room when charging

Sorry, I didn't know this thread got any replies, and email notification was off.
I didn't do anything else really... you need to rename it from ADB though (with the phone in recovery mode), because otherwise the change will be reverted back once you reboot and nothing will change.
Once you rename it, the phone will automatically use the default Froyo lockscreen (this is, if you have a 2.2 rom).
So I recently did a manual update to 2.3.2 , and since that update I've been getting this glitch that is annoying the heck out of me. While I'm on the phone , I hear the lock sound , as if I locked the phone. I checked to see if my finger hit the lock button and it was nowhere near it. I happens every once in a while but geez its annoying...Has anyone heard of or had this issue? If so PLEASE HELP. I've tried restoring the device and the glitch continues
It may be a part of your settings or a 3rd party application that is being restored after you restored your device. Try restoring your device again. This time DO NOT sign into gmail at the prompt. Instead, choose SKIP. Click the market icon from the app drawer and sign in from there. This prevents market from automatically installing apps, as well as restoring previous backed up settings.

Alternatively, couldn't you just turn the lockscreen sound off? I always forget there is even a sound because I turn it off.

I'm confused because my phone doesn't have a lock sound and hasn't since I first turned it on
Check that Settings -> Sound -> Screen lock sounds is off

Hello,
When I would delete an icon (hold down on it, then drag it to the "remove" button at the top), my G2 would make a little trash noise. Now it doesn't do it any more... I haven't changed anything with the sounds, I don't think.
Also, I've lost haptic feedback when typing/other touch functions.
Any reason behind this? Anything I can do?

Yep here also, no idea what i did wrong.
Seems like it disappears by the first time you do a factory reset or maybe when you have installed a third party launcher, i have no idea
but i'm missing it also.
sound dissappear for me after KitKat Update. :crying:
want it back to
I've recently rooted my s4 on 4.3 and I've added in the code to display the shutter sound menu (not usually visible in my country). The issue is selecting "Off" doesn't actually do anything, or it doesn't accept "Off" as a valid selection. I'm aware of the other fix involving renaming or deleting the sound files and I've actually tried that a little earlier, but a toggle would be much cleaner.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Try using the silent mode option of the phone

Doesn't work, but I'd really like a solution to the toggle issue anyway. Even just hearing from someone who has enabled the menu and didn't have this problem would be great, to see what I did differently.
Is there a way to disable the camera shutter sound?
I understand that you can do it in the notification settings - but it doesnt actually do it.
Is this a regional thing? because phones that are bought in Japan cannot be disabled however I bought it in Singapore .
Go to camera, open hamburger menu on the left, open settings on the right top, turn off shutter sound.... Voila

Yeah, it's a regional thing. OnePlus has put a toggle in the app, but in regions where it is not permitted to mute camera sounds, the toggle won't actually do anything. To work around this, I manually decompiled the OnePlus Camera app, muted the necessary sounds, and recompiled the app for my personal use. The sounds are muted by default (except the timer ones) and you can't enable them via the toggle also.
I'm attaching my modified version at the end of this post, if you want to give it a shot. Good luck!
Important info: You won't be able to install this alongside your existing OnePlus Camera app. So you'll need root for this. Also, in case you still hear sounds even after correctly replacing the original OnePlus Camera app, let me know.
