i think its just app data so if your on level 6 on a game and you get a new phone it will start on level 6

but it says: backup wifi passwords, settings!!
maybe it will restore this stuff after u do a factory reset, to help u save time and efforts to do all of that after the reset?!
and if that is correct, if u choosed not to automatically restore, it will give u an option to restore only what u want?!

yeah passwords in google like website passwords

When you backup your data via backup option, it saves WiFi passes, Google account info etc.
When you re-set up your phone from another ROM or after a reset, you enter your existing Google account data and you have an option to restore all the apps you had previously from the Play store and it auto downloads them for you. - it saves certain phone settings to.

Soon as you sign into your Google account via your phone after a restore/wipe, it'll ask you if you wish to restore your settings and apps, not sure where Google actually store this data though or if it's accessible (don't think it is)

[GUIDE] Restore saved WiFi when flashing a new Rom

Greetings,
first of all, since this is my first guide, please be kind and for another thing, english is not my mother tongue so pardon eventual spelling errors.
I'am sort of a "flash-o-holic" and one thing that drives me nuts is everytime i flash a new rom, i have to reenter my saved WiFi-networks including their passwords. And since these passwords are really long, about 16 to 26 characters, it's a very tedious process.
But a found a solution or workaround, that i want to share with you.
First, grab your wpa_supplicant.conf file, usually it's saved under /system/etc/wifi/ (you can either pull it via adb or copy it with a root explorer to your sdcard) a save this file on your PC.
Now download your desired rom (if you haven't already), open it with a zip tool (i use 7zip and so should you ), navigate to /system/etc/wifi/ and replace the wpa_supplicant.conf file.

And that's it!
You can just flash it like normal via custom recovery.
Worked for me everytime. (=
Nice, I never thought about that. I usually restore this using Titanium Backup, but that requires getting TB onto the phone first. With your method wi-fi will be available imediately after booting.
EDIT: Except... that file is mostly empty. For me the file with my wifi data is /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
...or you can just backup your data using Google. it restores your WiFi passwords

I could do that, but i don't want to save my WiFi-Settings & passwords on a google server. It's silly i know but i'am kinda paranoid.

Same for me
Well, i guess the Main Argument against that would be:
When you need to restore from Google, you have to connect to wifi first, right?

Thanks for the info! I have a ton of logins for various businesses. PITA to manually redo all of them.

[Q] forget my pin!

Hi i forget my pin
plese help me
i have samsung galaxy i9505
how can i open the lock
my phone is root and my rom MKF 3.4
and I have cwm recovery
how can I unlock my phone without delelting any thing :crying:
You mean the lockscreen or SIM card?
If it's SIM card, find your PUK or simply pull it out
If it's lockscreen...
Do nandroid backup, full wipe , reflash system and then use TB to restore crucial data from nandroid. OK, that's best way I can think of, anyone got better idea?
But how can you possibly forget your PIN? It's just 4 numbers...
depending on the screen lock type
if it is pin or patten try to reset by gmail
if it is password your are out of luck, you need to do a wipe data/factory reset & wipe cache

In lockscreen you can press "forget?" or something like that, you'll need to login with the same gmail account you use for google play store and or other services on your phone to verify that you are the owner

I don't think there is away to back it up completely. For each account you add into the Google Authenticator, you are usually given a recovery key at setup. You need to keep the key safely and use it for recovery whenever you need it. Once you have configured it, you will usually not have the option to review the key again due to security reasons.

I switched to Authy some years back after having to manually disable and re-enable 2FA on like fifteen accounts following a phone migration.
Now my codes easily move to a new device. No complaints.

If you have registered with your Google account, you should be able to unlock using your Google password, too.
Hope that you have not changed this unlock method

They have changed that method. Man
More information would be helpful. Bootloader unlocked? TWRP installed?
If for some strange reason you have Android 10 and a functional copy of TWRP you should be able to delete the password data.
It's been a while since i actually did this but it's more than likely possible, if you're on Android 11 then no you'll have to wipe.
Have you tried to log in using safe mode? Might offer a second method instead of the pattern.

Unfortunately that's actually there too protect your data so there's a slim silver lining.
Hopefully you've synced contacts with Google and your photos with Google..
Apps will lose data but most will be saved with sync
