Hi
Not sure how many have had issues with the kitkat upgrade..
So I have been using Nexus 4 for almost a year now with a custom Rom (Resurrection Remix) based on 4.2.2
So when the new Kitkat was released had installed the initial version of the Nexus 5 port after doing a clean install and restoring the user data using Titanium Backup.. So a few days after this one fine morning the phone froze and did not respond thought just a one of case
Then this started happening every couple of days.. So i thought probably was the prob with the ROM so had tried a few other KK based roms and saw that issue was recurring..
So last week I did a clean install by installing the factory version of the ROM and then rooting it but then again the issue started..
Now because of this I m switching back to 4.3 :crying:
So if anyone has been facing similar issues or has been able to solve it do let me know
Thanks

Hey!
New to the XDA forum, not new to Android!
I will cut to the chase and explain really fast what I need help with.
I have been using the Imperium ROM 4.4.2 KK for a few weeks now and I love it.
But as of a few days ago, Update 4.0 (up from 3.6) was released, and my phone just won't stop spamming me with "upgrade to the latest version 4.0!" . However, as far as I can tell, I have to re-download the 4.0 ROM and flash my phone entirely over again.
So, TL;DR:
I am using the Galaxy S4 Imperium 4.4.2 ROM 3.6 and I want to;
a)Upgrade to 4.0 without re-flashing my and having to re-install all apps, backup photos etc.
b)Turn off the spam notifications about updating.
Thanks in advance, sincerely

I have the same problem i was using 6.0 and now 7.0 is out can i just perform ota update or do i have to donwload the rom and flash it.....what about my apps installed in 6.0 can i just apply update from sd in recovery...i dont want to reinstall all those apps again.plz help
Guys come on. These are really basic questions.
- If you are not prepared to wipe everything from time to time, then you should stay away from custom roms.
- You can just try it yourself if it works. Make a backup and flash away. If you got problems, fully wipe and restore your backup.
Imperium
Hello, I managed to install Imperium Rom on to my phone but when I try to sync my phone with my samsung account it says sync error and also when I try to restore my phone with my samsung account it says could not connect to server but now I have gone back to my stock rom everything is fine. do you know what the problem could be?
I've recently moved to a new state and have been having to use my phone's GPS several times a week.
At the time I was using one of the Cyanogenmod 11 snapshot builds(sorry, I can't remember which one ). The GPS worked flawlessly. I would always update to the next snapshot build as they came out. One our two updates later my GPS couldn't seem to get a fix on my location. I tried wiping and doing a clean install of the ROM. Still had issues.
Eventually I got fed up with cyanogenmod and wiped my phone and installed Paranoid Android 4 beta 1. Had the same problem with the GPS. I tried several of the other beta releases as they came out to see if the problem was resolved. It wasn't.
So I restored my phone to stock using the Google factory images (4.4.2). The GPS worked beautifully. So I stuck with stock for a while and did the OTA update to 4.4.3.
After a while I started to miss the features and customizations that come with custom ROMs. So I wiped and flashed Paranoid Android 4.4 RC2. The GPS still can't seem to lock. On the rare occasion that it does it can't keep up with my car, especially if I turn onto another road.
Does anyone know what's up with the GPS? Didn't seen to have this issue at all on Jelly Bean custom ROMs. Is this an issue with Kitkat custom ROMs? Possibly a hardware issue? Any help would greatly appreciated.
Current setup:
Phone: Nexus 4(16gb)
ROM: Paranoid Android 4.4 RC2

There appears to be an issue with KitKat and GPS. I'm running stock 4.4.4 and I can't get a GPS lock. I've tried everything I can, including a factory reset. I don't remember having the issue with 4.4.3, but I've seen issues reported going back to 4.4.2.
I don't know about you, but a reboot usually does it for me.
Hey guys I have not seen this in the Q&A section and I want to make sure I do it right.
I only recently rooted my Nexus 7, been running stock but decided I wanted to have Multi Windows like I have on my Note 4. I have not decided on a ROM as I was looking for the best one so I am still running Stock Rooted 5.0.2 I saw Omni ROM and I think that this would be the best ROM to attempt this as I tried the Xposed method and of course got the boot loop.
I see that currently on OmniROM.com that this device is still running on KK 4.4.4 according to the nightlies. I assume I would need to find a KK stock ROM and flash it on to my Nexus to downgrade back to KK in order to install this ROM, or will this install with TWRP even though I'm running Lollipop?
If so does someone have a quick link to the Stock KK files? I used Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit to root my device as I did not feel like going through the same hassel as when I rooted my Droid RAZR so I would just tell that to use those files instead.
I am always flashing ROMs on my Note 4 but I have never gone backwards and I think it was possible to install KK ROM once you upgrade to lolly but not use a lolly ROM if your still on KK.

I don't think anyone has done a compatibility check to see what happens if you run a 4.4 build on a device with 5.x bootloaders. It might work, it might do weird things (usually with sensors/wifi)
Multiwindow never got merged, if you want it you'll have to build for yourself and cherrypick it. There were some remaining issues with the patch we never had time to fix, we got too busy with other stuff, and xplodwild wants to rewrite the whole thing after finding a better way to implement it.
The only S5 Kitkat ROMs I've found either haven't been updated in over a year, or many users are reporting severe bugs like no camera support, or severe battery drain issues.
I'm just trying to get an app called Winulator running so I can play Starcraft: Broodwar on android, but it isn't working and one user said that is because Lolipop broke it (I'm on 5.1.1 atm). The app is no longer supported so I don't think it will ever run properly on 5.x. If anyone knows of a way to emulate 4.x for just 1 app maybe that would be the best shortcut for me overall here.
Barring that, could someone please recommend a guide to installing a lightweight, power-user-oriented ROM that is 4.x or older and has excellent battery life? I was going to try the official 4.4.4 VanirAOSP release but there are too many reports of poor battery performance in the last 2 pages of that thread for my liking.
I think the first thing I need to do is unlock the bootloader, and I've yet to find a definite answer on the best method of doing this from FOL1 (12/15). It seems I will need Odin on my PC and I have it. I've also started backing up all the data from my phone by manually copying/pasting to my PC.
I guess once everything is finally backed up (it's taking FOREVER, explorer literally been calculating time to copy for 10 minutes now just on the phone/android folder), then I will try and flash the official 4.4.2 VanirAOSP ROM since that one doesn't have any reports of battery issues and possibly only the camera and a few things won't work.
BTW, is there a step specially to unlock the FOL1 bootloader that I am missing, or can I just flash that ROM with Odin straight up? I found a comment stating NOT to flash 5.1.1 with Odin or I'd be stuck on Lollipop until some new bootloader-unlock method comes out. The 5.1.1 I'm running wasn't flashed with odin it was sent OTA and I've never rooted or had custom rom/bootloader, so I should be good on that I guess?
I am actually about to dive into this, if no one has any suggestions for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2752995
So I'll just pick one at random then? Thanks for the help...
You haven't even listed your model S5 or the ROM it's running now
And of course KK hasn't been updated in over a year, Lollipop and Marshmallow are released, they're not going to keep updating KK when a newer version of Android is released
Hello,
I've been using my Asus Zenfone 5 for last 3 years. It came with Jelly bean and got updated till Lollipop. After the Lollipop upgrade there were a lot of issues including battery, signaling, storage and apps crashing.
I followed some tuts and recently downgraded to KitKat. Having no issues for now.
I get an on-screen time of 4 hours and 11 minutes. Not sure if it's supposed to be bad or not. I'm looking to flash an AOSP ROM, preferably KitKat or Lollipop based as I'm tired of ZenUI and the poor battery backup.
I've previously used a Moto E, Galaxy SIII and Moto E2. I kept the Zenfone instead because of the better hardware and features it offers.
Also if you link me to a ROM, be sure to link the flashing instructions as well. I'm using dual SIM.
Thanks.
Kitkat and Lollipop cooked rom has quite lot of issues. If I were you, I would pick a Nougat rom
Nougat ROM is more stable than KitKat? Interesting. This is the first time I'm hearing of it. Can you link me to a good ROM?

Of course u must know the basic, flash recovery, rom,..
The only issue that every Asus devices must accept when install a custom ROM is can't use GPS and fmradio. (A-Gps still ok).
I used RR Android 6 rom for a few months. After boring issues etc. I went back to the modded Stock Android 5 but after a few months of usage i realised its worse and yesterday I installed Android 7 RR rom. It's perfect, just like a new phone.
