[Q] Can you flash an International S4 rom on the Sprint model? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Let me make my disclaimer:
"I am not a noob! I have been consistently active in Android (development and flashing) since the MyTouch 3G Slide days. I understand partition differences, I understand (from experience) that jumping in head first and flashing roms meant for other devices can brick your phone, and I understand that the first thing most people (including myself) think is N00B alert, but this isn't the case."
Now, I have done nothing but flash Sprint ROMs on the device. However, when I noticed that there was a sim slot in my phone the first thing I thought was "What the heck?" Then, some major googling revealed that it needs it for the 4G LTE, but it can also be used on international carriers. THEN, I found a guide posted by a dude that showed how you could set up Domestic GSM carrier sims to be compatible with this phone (And fully functional). SO! My question is, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, can it run an international GS4 rom? I'm asking because I would love to see what Ubuntu OS is like.
Thanks in advance!

I Googled and there was no thread that came up answering this question. I have been on XDA for some years now so I know that it's annoying to post answered questions, hence my posting this (after properly searching).

I believe the answer was yes and people said to be sure to flash a sprint kernel after

What's up guys? I'm new to android and rooting. This S4 lag is terrible and im looking forward to rooting. My wish is to completely change my S4 to a pure android experience (vanilla?). What do I need to know?
What network are you on?

Well you need to wait for the bootloader to be unlocked and then flash a custom rom when they are made available. As someone new to android be sure to read a lot of various threads to get background knowledge and be careful. Rooting and flashing can potentially break your device if you don't know what you are doing. Just a friendly heads up. We have all been new to the rooting and flashing experience at one time or another.
Read the the threads in depth and best of luck when you make the leap

I've seen more than a few people, some on these forums, some IRL, complaining about lag. I've had absolutely none thus far. Maybe because I'm coming from an older phone? Idk. Seems perfect for me.

T-Mobile USA users silent here?

I've been asking, for a month or more, for someone to please post a stock T-Mobile US 4.1.2 backup so I can restore to (close to) factory stock. Yet no one has come around... Who wants to take credit for being the first? You will help many, I'm sure.
Thanks in advance.

Judging by your post history, I don't think you realize there's an entire specific T-Mobile HTC One section, located here. You probably want to post your question there or search through those threads for what you're looking for.

Crazy i never knew that section existed either. when typing ONE in to the "type to find your device" field, it doesn't show it. Shows all of the rest of the ONE's. I bet 50% of the t mobile users dont know about it I'm sure many t-mobile users thank you for the link

Thanks for the T-Mobile One forum link...but there doesn't seem to be any content.
Also, thanks for the link...but I see this in the thread:
"This is RUU?
No it's a rom from a Chinese site built off of 2.19 and 2.17"
I want to return the phone to a stock T-Mobile rom so I can get OTA updates as they become available.
Is this still possible? My signal strength is horrible right now. Having to rely on wi-fi calling much of the time...

i think tmobile uses the same radio as att and the developer edition/wwe
Just use a 4.2.2 rom because your going to wait a while for updates on tmobile.
And if you want a better response, here you go.

The T-Mobile section also has it's own search function. I know.. crazy right?
There are a couple of threads pertaining to restoring back to stock T-Mobile. There is no RUU, yet. So you'll have to restore a backup someone posted, restore stock recovery and relock your booyloader to apply the OTA updates after you restore however.

Is Tutorial Needed?

Has anyone OTA'd to MF9, rooted and then wanted to reset flash counter and unroot? If so, has anyone tried to do so and found that they are having major issues doing so? Let me know what the problems are and if there is Want/Need for a tutorial. I also want to know if anyone e has had any issues doing so just in case problems are isolated to just me or not. I have successfully done this many times myself to ensure safety and all 5 times have been the exact same way and haven't been able to do it any other way. Please do not remove until we figure out if a tutorial is Wanted/Needed. Thank you.

I'm sure people would be grateful for a tutorial for going back to stock no doubt. But this being just a question - it still should be in general or Q&A

Well, the reason being in Dev. is due to this where it needs to be if/when posted and Q/A is not where someone is going to look for this type of tutorial. It is a very fragile process the way I have to go about it and do not want to have issues ALL over to be honest.

You have your reason and XDA has our reasons. Development is for development and Q and A is for questions. Simple as that. That won't change. And we are not going to follow your reasoning. The point being follow XDA rules and not your own here please. I had already moved this to Q and A by the time you posted your above response BTW...
That's fine. No need to be rude, just move it and done. I was giving my reasons as to why I posted it, not trying to justify. Keep it calm and friendly here, plain and simple.

That wasn't rude. Those were the rules explained to you and everyone else. And I am a very friendly Moderator. I can't sugar coat anymore than that for you.

Running AT&T ROMs on Tmo?

Just a small question. Noticing Clean ROM was ported over to TMO, could we TMO people run other AT&T ROMs without much problem, outside of changing APN settings, and possibly the kernel?

How rude can you possibly get, just stuffing that link in his face?
OP: I suspect that you can, but there is a CleanROM for Tmo. You should probably refrain from flashing the CM and CM-based builds though.
This section is littered with this problem disobeying the sticky. How do you expect to fix the problem if you encourage it? I linked to the sticky since OP either didn't read it or didn't read it properly. Pretty simple really.

I've said this before. It gets tiring having to answer the same question over and over again. Plus did you even search at all? Which is one of the rules that you agreed to when you signed up. The thread you need is one of the top 10 threads in the development section.

ok I understand what is happening and that the rule is first search before asking but I'm tired of looking for the solution to my problem among many yarns, which can be up to 90 pages and only discuciones hypothesis that ultimately do not reach any finding the only thing I'm asking is at least one link in which the resources needed me to fix my problem and believe me I have searched but can not find the solution
