[Q] Nexus 7 usb is messed up - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello and happy new year to all of you.
Unfortunately the year isn't starting well for my Nexus 7 (2012). It doesn't charge when its ON. It's charging when it's OFF!
Fastboot works ok, but usb doesn't work at all when device is ON (neither charging, and PC doesn't recognize anything when plugged in).
I did factory reset, wiped everything, (data, system, cache) flashed stock google firmware from fastboot nothing again.
I cant say that it's a hardware issue because as I said, Fastboot works ok and charging works on AC socket when the device is off.
Any ideas?..

[Q] Bootloop only works through USB connected Computer

Dear All,
I woke up and disconnected my phone from the charger and it started into a never ending bootloop cycle, It was on STOCK. I wiped data, cache and davercks. I installed CWM and installed cyanogen mod though it. Still bootloop. Then I noticed when it is connected to the computer it works like a charm when I disconnect the cable from the computer it freezes and goes back to bootloop. I restarted the computer with nothing running and phone still worked through it? It's a very weird thing thats happeneing I tried multiple things and it still won't stop bootlooping without the USB via Computer.
Edit #1
After a while if I pull the phone out of the USB it works for a while then goes back to bootloop. I thought it was the battery so I switched it with a fully charged one and still same problem.

Nexus 4 stuck on boot animation after usb/charging port replacement

Hello guys,
At first, I know that the problem of stuck boot animation is common and there are already a lot of topics about it, but here I have some particularities that create a really bigger problem.
The problem started when my Nexus 4 stopped to connect to any pc, I tried more than 5 computers, diferent drivers, 3 cables, changed my rom, tried to connect in recovery, fastboot and anything find my phone, it just charges...
Then I decided to buy this USB port replacement:
http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/7111654281.html?orderId=71054284143593
After the replace, the phone won't turn on anymore, stay always on the boot animation of chroma rom, I tried to wipe cache and data, restore previous backup, factory reset and reinstall the rom, put back the old USB port, nothing worked.
The possible good point is that, with the new USB port, my computer detect a device when I plug the phone in bootloader mode (this wasn't happening with the old USB port), but I canĀ“t get in ADB mode.
Help me please guys!
Help me please guys...
Can it be a problem at the logic board?

USB C charging issue

So after getting around to installing the July security patch a couple days ago USB C charging stopped working on my Nexus 6P. If I use a USB A to USB C cable it will charge, but not if I use USB C to USB C. This persisted over multiple cable and chargers.
I tried to wipe the cache but had a problem getting into recovery - I could get to the boot loader but when i select Recovery i get a 'No Command' error screen. (eventually i found out i could power and volume up from this screen to get recovery, but the wipe cache didn't fix anything.)
Then I installed Oreo hoping that would take care of the issue but no luck. Any thoughts? Anybody else get this from the security patch?
Google support has not been particularly helpful.
Hi, i just started getting this issue today. I installed android O yesterday. My original charger which is C to C wont work but C to A will work fine. I've also had my 6p not recognized by my pc. It only charges when i plug it in. Tried different cables, different computers, but I think it might by my charging port. Google support tried, they didn't know what was going on.
But I'm stuck without a custom recovery right now and have lost root access. But phone is working fine. Messed up during flashing, didnt flash custom recovery thinking twrp would be intact but nope. And I cant use ADB to reflash anything cause my stupid 6p wont get recognized by my pc. haha

haha. use bootloader mode and fastboot flash the TWRP you overwrote when you flashed over recovery. ADB only works in Recovery, but fastboot works in bootloader mode which previously said you can access.

Nexus 7 2012 can only be charged in swiched off mode

Hi
I have a nexus 7 2012 which was rooted, twrped and flashed to Nought. And suddenly I noticed it could not be charged when turned on. I flashed it back to stock in fastboot mode and tried with factory image as 4.1.2, 4.4 and 5.1.1. Locked the bootloader too. But it kept with same problems:
1. No charging when power is on.
2. Turn off the power and replug the cable, the battery start charging.
3. No adb connection when power is on .(No problem with the usb driver since I have anothe nexus without any problem of connection)
4. Fastboot works
5. when tried to turn on USB debugging tablet restarts automatically after a while and USB debugging is still off after restart.
6. When tried to tick/untick MTP the system restarts after a while
I believe this must have somthing to do the sw which control the USB . But I don't know how to solve this. Someone has ideas?
Thanks

Nexus 7 2012 not charging and power off just restarts the tablet

Ok so i had a Nexus 7 2012 installed into my car dashboard.
Some time ago the tablet stopped charging. I assumed the usb port was broken (had to jiggle it to charge sometimes) so i went ahead an tryied to clean it with a niddle while it was still on (stupid, i know). It still didnt charged and i tryied to power it off. It powered off and then it came back on. By itself. It was strange. I tought i short circuit it so i pulled out the battery and went to buy another daughter board for the usb charging port. The daughterboard came and i replaced it. Same problems.
Then i assumed it was a software error (the tablet had an unofficial lineage os installed). I booted into recovery and whiped cache + factory reset. Then the tablet went into bootloop. Powered back into recovery and plugged in the usb to the laptop. Surprisingly the laptop recognised it. I used Nexus Tool Rootkit to go back to stock rom but even after going back to stock rom, the tablet still wont charge.
Any ideeas on what might it happen ? How to fix it ?
