Hello everyone,
I got a Singaporian version of the LG G2 (SEA) and today I updated it with the last version of the firmware : V10f
The problem is that i can't reach the hidden menu anymore, applications that can switch on/off LTE data are not working anymore and I can't switch it directly from the network menu (I can just select : GSM or WCDMA (2G or 3G in french))
Someone has a solution ?
Thank you very much and sorry for my weak english
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494751
I'm guessing it's enabled on a carrier basis within each firmware - I'm on the same SEA firmware, but I have the option for LTE in my options:
Hum in fact I can activate the LTE by the hidden menu (3845#*802#) but I dont have it in the network menu, I didn't understand what you said "enabled on a carrier basis with each firmware" what does that mean ?
Disable fast dormancy in hidden menu and restart and you will have the lte option

I believe you can set the phone to only receive CDMA and LTE in the Mobile Networks option of the settings (in the more section)
You can also set it to receive only GSM, GSM and CDMA, or all available networks.

CDMA=3G, LTE=4G. Right? Since I am on the Verizon network, the only circumstances that I would connect to GSM is if I left the USA, right? I wonder if there's a way to isolate LTE connectivity and turn off 3G all together..

You on stock or a custom ROM?
That sounds like a radio problem tbh.
You can't use LTE only - in fact, LTE requires a CDMA or GSM base for stuff like phone calls so it always has to be connected to 3g or 1x.
There's a possibility that switching airplane mode or pulling your SIM out would force LTE to reconnect
Solution: Yes you can force lte
I'm not a engineer or a radio analyst but I do believe what the previous post says about LTE needing CDMA is completely wrong - it certainly doesn't need to have CDMA or any other radio band to effect LTE. That being said, LTE is BASED off of 3G CDMA. But again, I may be inaccurate, however I think the "proof is in the pudding"......HOW TO FORCE TO LTE (ONLY)
1. Open up your phones dial pad
2. Dial *#*#4636#*#* (An app with the title "Testing" should open automatically... but not 100% sure. If it doesn't open auto hit dial....
3. Select "Phone Information"
4. Scroll down the phone information page, you should see the first button that says "Turn off radio"..... We want to focus on the item right above that. By default it's set to "LTE/CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA"
5. Click on that which should provide a drop down list, with specific radio bands.
6. In your case select "LTE Only"
7. Profit!
FYI: IN "LTE Only" mode you will not be able to make or receive calls - this is good for DATA only. You can manually reset back to default mode but regardless every time your phone reboots it will go back to default.
Well yeah that's true. Not really sure if vzw will let you connect though. But yeah no calls or text

I'm currently using PA and looking for an easy way to toggle "Use 2G only" when I connect to a wireless network. I've tried tasker and llama, but they change the network mode when toggling back. I'm configured for 4G, so switching back to WCDMA doesn't help me much.
Thanks in advance.

What do you you mean with they changed the network mode when toggling back?
Swyped from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
Tasker and llama have an option to toggle 2G/3G or wimax. When it executes the command to switch to 2G, it checks the box and switches network type to GSM. When you toggle it again, it unchecks the box but also switches back to WCDMA which is the default network type. I need the network type to stay LTE/GSM.

I don't use Paranoid Android but I'm pretty sure it has Quick Settings customization. You just go into Quick Settings menu and enable "Network modes". The older CyanogenMod power widgets have that toggle too.

LTE option only show up if you flash the LTE package that install LTE baseband and edit the build.prop to enable it. It's a separate toggle dedicated to turning on and off LTE only.

I have LTE auto-enabled. My issue, is getting an auto-toggle between 2G and LTE.
I don't know if you have downloaded and used power toggles. I use the power toggles widget and quite easily toggle 3g & 2g. Hope this helps.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
There is no CyanogenMod toggle to allow you to get directly between LTE and 2G, you have to first disable LTE, it will automatically go to HSPA after that, then you have to press the 2G/3G toggle to change it to 2G manually. I do not know of any other ways. In *#*#4636#*#*, you can select LTE/GSM, but I doubt it will work for your purpose either.
Thanks for some of the replies, but I'm NOT trying to change the network mode. My network mode is currently set to LTE/GSM and if I check the "use 2g only" (see screen shot) then the network mode switches to GSM only and back to LTE/GSM when unchecked. Any of the toggles listed by others above change the network mode and have no method to change the network mode to LTE/GSM.

I was able to do this with Tasker. I didn't realize that by default, Tasker will restore settings to their previous state when they exit the profile. Previously, I was trying to use a second profile to set the network mode back, and this is where I ran into problems. I also set up a second profile (along with the Secure Settings plugin) to enable/disable GPS when going between Wi-Fi.
Now, to just configure it to NOT switch the network mode while on a call.. I think there's an IF statement for that.
You can use secure settings with tasker to force lte also. That's what I do.

Good to know! Thanks
This won't be very helpful, but I found out AOKP have a specific 2G toggle, I would guess this means PAC rom should have it to. You can toggle between LTE and 2G, but switching it to LTE really means 'lte/wcdma/gsm'.

@eksasol Thanks, but I primarily use PA.
@frigidazzi I tried switching to LTE with secure settings, but it changed my network mode to GSM/CDMA. Can you get it to switch to LTE/GSM?
Yes. Mine goes to lte/gsm auto prl. I'm on radio .33. Using aokp 4.2.2 with newest Franco kernel. I'm not sure which is the trick to get it to work. I've never had a problem with it.

Thanks. I may play with it more later, but will probably leave it lie since it's working as I need it to.
G2 seems to have worse LTE reception compared to few other devices I had, is there anyway to disable LTE and go down to HSPA or HSPA+?
I know my area has terrible LTE coverage, but for some reason it sticks to LTE even if it means I am forced to 0.3mbps speeds! Ouch.

You can disable LTE from the service menu, use the code 5457#*(your phone model here)# And you will find an option there with the bands to do so.You can enable only the ones you want and dissable all others.Dont change anything else tho.I cant tell you exactly where you will find it cause the menu is slightly different for every variant it seems.

Thank you so much, I remember now people were running this trick on Nexus 4, but sadly it did not work. When you say Model here, I just put numbers only right? I got the D800 from AT&T, in dialer I just hit 5457#*800# and hit call, nothing happens, I get invalid MMI error. I tried 5457#800# no luck.
However, using your suggestion, I found the code to access service menu, but it wasn't as clear as I hoped it would be so I did not touch anything.
Code:
AT&T LG G2 D800 Service Menu: 3845#*800#
T-Mobile LG G2 D801 Service Menu: 3845#*801#
Verizon LG G2 VS980 Service Menu: 3845#*980#
Sprint LG G2 LS980 Service Menu: 3845#*980#
I expected on/off switches, but there is WDCMA-Only, LTE-Only, and nothing else. There is no HSPA or HSPA+ only or any switch, and I don't want to hit LTE only assuming that will limit the reception to LTE and I will get stuck with no coverage when there is no LTE.
On Sprint, I can go into data settings via dialer (##3282#), and edit LTE screen (requires service code). From there, I can disable LTE and force CDMA/EvDo. Of course, this is on Sprint variant, not sure how AT&T/T-Mobile does it or whichever carrier you're on.

I also tried *#*#4636#*#* which does not let me go into OEM-Info or any Radio selection.
Why does AT&T do this!?
I believe if you go into settings and go into the mobile networks menu, there is a menu that allows you to choose whether the phone will go into LTE if available or just stay on 4G HSPA+. I'm getting my G2 tomorrow, so I don't remember exactly how I did it when I played with it in the store. If you can't find it, I'll let you know what it is once I get my phone. This is with the T-Mobile G2.

In order of Nice to Naughty,
Sprint
T-Mobile
AT&T
Verizon (wayyyyy low in the list, naughtiest)
So, considering above, I am pretty sure A&T disabled that menu you are referring to (In Mobile Networks) some confirmed it working on Sprint, but I don't think it is available on AT&T. I am stuck with LTE.

Sorry, missed it earlier when you said you were on AT&T. Are you able to go to Settings > Tethering & networks > Mobile networks > Network mode? With the T-Mobile version, there's gsm/wcdma/lte auto, gsm/cdma auto, wcdma only, and gsm only selections under the Network Mode menu. That would really suck if they diabled that setting. I'm assuming you're on stock unrooted.

Go to LTE settings, modem setting, then select RAT then you can force what ever mode you want.

This issue has been reported numerous times with the Oreo update, suggestions are to use the hidden svc menu to change settings, but reports say that the menu is not accessible. So your going to have to wait for the carrier to fix it. Or depending on your variant downgrade and go back to nougat
