Coming from a galaxy s4, i did alot of tweaking around, sometimes screwing up systemui and other things that would cause my phone to bootloop and get stuck... There was always an easy solution... Reboot the phone into recovery, wipe data, and flash the rom again, then everything would be ok.. ive never truely had my phone brick to a point where it was a nightmare to fix. Everything was easily accessible through TWRP
does that work the same on the g2??? If i flash a kernel that doesnt work, or do something that causes my rom (clean rom) not to boot up, is it as simple as booting the phone into recovery and flashing my rom again to start from scratch???
Just wanna know what im getting into before i risk screwing anything up.. thanks
looking around i see posts of people having nightmares to fix their phones... i dont know what fastboot is either.. cant you just boot the phone into twrp and reflash your rom???

I'm curious about this too. On rare occasions it has been necessary to pull the battery to reboot the phone. How does one handle those circumstances with a non-removable battery?

thats exactly what i was wondering earlier... you would pull the battery when it bootloops... but.. we cant pull the battery, so what do we do??? And what is the purpose of fastboot, if we have TWRP??? i would assume you would easily just boot the phone into recovery and just flash the rom again to fix it, but why does it seem like people are having other issues??
Worrying gives grey hairs...what if we all die tomorrow? TRWP is God for the G2 stop worrying ?

Thank for the reply. But the OP and I do not have the phone yet, and are looking for info. I've been burned before with a phone that was difficult and don't want to make the same mistake. Don't worry be happy and hakuna matata do not answer our specific concerns. I am very close to buying this phone but can't without specific info. That is why I posted here.

Have the latest recovery (2.6.3.2) installed!!! Turn off phone and then hold Vol- and power simultaneously till you see the LG logo then release the buttons for 1 second then press and hold Vol- and power again till you see the factory reset screen. Just select "Yes" twice and you will boot into recovery (don't worry about seeing this screen you won't lose any data unless you actually wipe from recovery)
If you don't have TWRP 2.6.3.2 installed then you can break your device attempting to do button combos so make sure you have this version!

Thank you very much. I for one appreciate the specifics. The only remains question I have is what can one do when the phone becomes frozen or locked up. Normally I would pull the battery but we know that isn't an option here.

if I remember correctly you should be able to hold the power button down for a few seconds then as soon as the LG screen comes up it should power off.
if you can't get it to power off, just try the button combination from where you are and follow through with instructions.
ok because as soon as we get a system dump of sprints g2, i will be making a fix to make google wallet work on all other devices, but i expect several bootloops till i get it right lol

I have brought up this issue before about booting into recovery via key combo till I finally was told how to do it. The Devs who got us TWRP still haven't updated it in the thread because it can still possibly cause issues but I haven't seen any yet as I've tested it several times too, so be careful guys.

Again, you want to hit "Yes" twice. Don't worry you won't lose any data unless you erase it inadvertently from TWRP. just go on in click "Yes" twice to the factory reset you will be fine. It will boot you into recovery from there and it WILL NOT wipe your phone.
Hi guys,
I tried to update my Nexus 4 to 4.4 when Google pushed the update out for it yesterday, I forgot I had unlocked the phone (I don't have any custom ROMs on it, just SuperSU.)
Every time I try and power it on, the loading screen is endless, although I can hold power and volume down to enter recovery mode, nothing seems to be working.
I am a bit of a novice so any help or suggestions would be really appreciated!
Thanks.
The first few pages of the forum is littered with posts like this, i was in the same situation.
What i did was download the 4.3 rom from google, and flash /boot and /system onto the phone. I suspect the 4.4 rom would also work.
This got the phone booting without harming (most of) my data, but much of the UI was mangled and didnt work properly. I tried to backup my images over USB but it didnt work, you might have a better result. I also wanted to backup my SMS but they had all vanished.
I rebooted the phone to recovery (TWRP) and used adb to backup the sdcard (adb pull /sdcard sdcard) then did a full flash using the 4.4 rom downloaded from google and that got it working again. Then i reflashed the latest version of TWRP recovery and SuperSU.
Hope that helps.
That's really helpful, thanks! Is there ANY chance of a step-by-step? I'm a complete 'noob' probably a mistake to root in the first place :crying:
If you're busy don't worry, just don't want to **** things up more than I have haha.
Thanks, appreciate it.

Cheers guys, a lot more helpful than the bloke from Google. Will try it in the morning!
This will surely help
If somebody is facing boot loop after kitkat update on nexus 4 and no data backup can try to go to safe mode and backup their data. To goto safe mode on boot screen just keep pressing up and down volume button for some time phone will get into safe mode and can be backed up.
Hi,
It also happened to me, dont know if it is related to having ROOT or not, but i had to manually flash factory image (4.4) and it worked. I flashed everything except userimage.img but on first boot it took like 15 minutes to reboot and then all my personal data (photo, music...) was gone....
So just be cautious before upgrading!

Yeah that is pretty much what I did to fix mine except that I did not flash the userdata (step 10 in chapter D) so that I would't loose my data.

Installing the driver. Refer to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992345
Boot to bootloader and connect to your PC, usually Windows will find the driver automatically
Hey guys, I screwed up bad. Im trading my G2 for an M8 tomorow, So I reverted back to my 'stock' restore on TWRP. Not really thinking about it I tried to update to 4.4 directly from the update centre. Now im stuck in a boot loop going into TWRP and it wont let me into the firmware. Can I still follow the thread that tells you how to go back to stock? Im in panic mode right now so im sorry if this has been asked before. Im just writing this so I can maybe get responses while I try and fix it myself.
thanks,
Brandon
EDIT: this back to stock thread is very intimidating. If someone could tell me an easier way (if there is one of course) to get back to stock it'd be appreciated.

100% wiped as in you wiped the internal storage as well.
Try to adb sideload a rom to atleast get it to boot something? You'll still have to go back to stock tho..
And if someone sends you a stock rom, that won't help you I wouldn't think. You'd still have twrp if you were to flash that. I'm assuming you want it back to 100% stock, right?

Well, it's too bad the return to stock scares you. I'm not too sure how it works for your variant, but it was pretty straight forward to do on my D800. If you could return it to stock, then update, you could use towelroot to re-root (takes like 10 secs).
Aside from all that, i'm not too sure what else you could do really.

Hi all.
I'm in desperate need of some help here.
I was tinkering with my D802 last night and got it rooted, yay, had a play with a sixaxis pad and some games etc all good fun. Then went to go to my barclays app and suddenly realised that it wouldn't work because it was now rooted. Started to follow this guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360142
Got as far as installing SudoSU and 'full unroot' and then installed CWM from the play store which then flashed the recovery.
I go to reboot into CWM but forget the path for the file downloaded so I reboot the phone to find it and suddenly when the phone starts all I get is
com.android.systemui has stopped in a constant loop so the rest of the phone doesn't start.
I don't know what the hell to do!
I've just managed to get into the hard reset mode with the vol down + power, release at LG logo, vol down + power option but I really don't want to have to do that just yet.

If I'm reading your post correctly, I think the reason your device is acting this way, is because you unrooted your device first and then you installed CWM(an application that requires root), this process confused your device and made it malfunction.

If you sycned you contacts and app data with Google, then yes, if you didn't do that, no, and I'm afraid that seeing that you can't boot into your device, you cannot backup your personal files to the computer.[emoji20] does your computer recognize your device?
Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
Ok, the main issue at the minute is this com.android.systemui process.
As soon as it comes up saying that it has stopped and I hit OK to clear, another pops up. Because of this I can't control or access anything.
Is there a way to fix this process to allow myself some control back over the phone?
The computer recognizes the device for file transfer so I've been able to recover things like pictures etc. I've also managed to get adb working to a certain extent and it's recognizing it under devices.
I mean, the device boots, but the trouble is this damn com.android.systemui process has stopped constantly popping up stopping me from doing anything.
I think the lock screen has gone whacko. I use the facelock which if it fails uses the pattern unlock. It's possibly why after pressing ok after the systemui process fails, I can't touch anything because the screen is technically locked.
Well, I did a factory reset which didn't do anything as the systemui kept falling over. Luckily enough the LG software recognised the phone now so was able to do a full restore from that and I'm now back in the game so thanks very much for your help

I accidentally ruined my LG G PAD F7.0 and
am stuck in a Google Play Services Error loop on my tablet
at the first time setup screen and it kicks me back to select the WiFi option i cant access the Android OS or home screen i tried both factory reset options
The Tablet was rooted but i believe the OS/Google Play services is damaged because of an app that wasn't supposed to be disabled that what im assuming....
What i wanna know is it possible someone can make a flash-able dump of their tablet from someone elses same model and if i can use it to restore this tablet back to working condition and if so how??
I also would like to know if any of the sites are the proper recovery files for this tablet:

Ok bro, first thing you need is the LG Drivers which you can get here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/g3...Ver_3.11.3.exe
Next you need the LG Flash Tool which you can get here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/fw..._Tool_2014.zip
Then you need the stock rom which you can get from the sources you found or you can even just google it. Everything is pretty self explanatory. Make sure you're tablet is in d/l mode. If you have any more questions just ask. Good luck!!!

XXX01, did this work for you? I'd like to be prepared if I come across a problem like this. Also, has anyone had any luck flashing *any* custom rom on a 430? I see Cyanogen has release for 400 and 410, and I know this is a recent release, so I'm conflicted by how new the device is compared to how similar it might be to those others.

Could you push those apps through ADB install? Do you have the apk files for those? If you want to PM me a list of those apps I can try to get you the APKs off mine and you can try that. Meanwhile, I'm working on pulling my rom for you guys.

I still can not find a way to flash this thing back to stock either. I am unable to find the stock rom anywhere. Not sure what to do.
We are having an error that says fastboot init( ), under that is loading keystore failed status 5 and then usb init ept @ 0x8f20700 and underneath that it says udc_start( ). It will not boot past this screen.

Did you get your stock ROM yet. I can pull it off one of mine if you still need it., I got two of them from Sprint just to save the activation fees on 3 other phones. I need to root them because they are way to slow. The hardware is way too small. Anyways, as soon as I figure out how to root them I can do a nan droid off the one I have never used so I won't even have to factory reset first. If you give me the steps you did to root yours it will save me time. How did you brick yours?

I need to know what recovery you used then you can flash it instead of having to use your PC.

Extracting a nan droid is easy enough. It is what you should have done as soon as you installed a recovery. t's just a back up. I need to use the same recovery you installed so it works on yours. After I back it up I will send you a link. You put it on your card and then restore from your recovery. It is key to always back up your firmware before you modify anything. If I make a back with the device that I haven't used it will be stock for you. I've never rooted a LG so I'm still looking for the method. I can compress it to a TAR if you want to flash it odin (or whatever is used for LG) but it is easiest just to install it as a restore. You can still power your device on to the recovery can't you?
I didnt even get to the recovery part I rooted and try to reboot after installing supers u from King root and been looping ever since

Getting it out of the boot loop is usefully not all that difficult. Did you try wiping the Dalvik and the cache? That will probably do it. If not what you need is the boot or kernel. Find the stock or the custom kernel and install it then wipe dalvik and cache.
I think i need the boot.img or kernal and I can't find either anywhere I've looked and I've tried factory reset and nothing I have the stock recovery so j can't wipe dalvik

A factory reset will wipe the dalvik. I will see what I can find tomorrow. When I get mine rooted you can use the boot image from my back up if I can't find one elsewhere. It's best to install a custom recovery. If your wanting the option to return to stock a good app is flashily. You can back up the boot loader and the kernel before you install a recovery and then use it to flash it back when you want to. It will even back it up to drop box so it doesn't get lost.
What method did you use to root?
I used king root and I'm no rookie to the rooting Android thing I've been doin it for years I just can't find a recovery to flash or anything other then King root to root it and if i could get it to go past the splash screen I'd be able to fix it but I can't get it passed there unless I find those files
