I have read that all Note 3 have locked boot loader. If I purchased an unlocked Note 3 from i.e. Negri Electronics, would these come with an unlocked boot loader?
Are there any reseller that sells a Note 3 that is has both sim and boot loader unlocked?
Samsung does not sell locked bootloader like HTC
sim locked is something else, and yes u can buy ig sim free (unlocked) or just buy the unlock code
Only Verizon and ATT have locked bootloader I think, as post above states, all are unlocked by default.
AT&T's Note 3 bootloader is locked, Verizon's is too, but Verizon does offer developer edition, which has unlocked bootloader. T-Mobile's Note 3 bootloader is not locked. I'm not sure about Sprint, but you dont want to be Sprint customer anyway.
Disregard posts from people, who don't understand the difference between locked bootloader and network carrier lock and make posts about unlocking and unlock codes.

There are some galaxy s5 phones coming up on the local Craigslist that say factory unlocked. Would these have unlocked boot loaders?

Depends on if its the international one. Cause you can factory unlock an AT&T one. And that doesnt have an unlocked boot loader either way.

Verizon and ATT lock their bootloaders. Most if not all other North American S5's will have unlocked bootloaders. In most cases, The TMobile version is the most unrestricted and capable hansdset. Unless you need a CDMA phone (Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular).
"Unlocked" usually refers to SIM locks.
For completeness there are also Developer model phones for Verizon /ATT that do have unlocked bootloaders. You won't see those very often. They have a different part number and their own firmware. Samsung does not have a good history of providing timely firmware updates for Developer models.

First off, sorry for the confusing thread title.
I'm currently running an AT&T Note 3 which has a locked bootloader and I've wanted to run CyanogenMod for a while now. I've ordered a second hand T-Mobile Galaxy S5 because I've heard the bootloader is unlocked and/or unlockable.
Can anyone here clarify how the sim lock/carrier lock works?
Will this require me to purchase an unlock code or will flashing the bootloader and custom firmware automatically unlock the sim? From my research I've read that I still need to unlock the sim, but I've also read that using a different bootloader can unlock it. Kind of confusing.
Can anyone tell me if T-Mobile Samsung phones have an Unlocked boot loader, if so which ones?? I know AT&T locks theirs. Thinking of getting a T-Mobile but use it on AT&T once I get sim unlocked. Thanks guys....
Does anyone know if the bootloader on the EE S8 is unlocked or not? Thanks
Bump, I'd like to know the answer to this before buying the handset from EE, can anybody quickly check please?
Ee
Is locked mate, but can be unlocked for £8.99
Bootloader on exynos versions isn't locked as far as I am aware? You can flash other firmware if you like. Its the snapdragon versions that are locked.
The guy above is clearly on about is the phone SIM locked or not.
Can the Sprint essential be bootloader unlocked?
Looking to take advantage of the Sprint deal for $5/mo but only if I can unlock the bootloader.
Yep, it's the same procedure. There's no "Sprint" version. All guides/procedures/roms/etc can be used on the Sprint variant
Bootloader, yes. But if you use a Sprint SIM it will be carrier-locked until you pay the phone off and get the code from Sprint.
*EDIT* Just realized that the OP was asking about Unlocking the Bootloader, which of course is absolutely possible., regardless of the Unlocked version or the Sprint version.
Do u get essential software updates after unlocking the bootloader.
