App Ops on Z1 - Xperia Z1 General

Those who are using 4.3, try using App Ops to tame the battery hungry apps from causing wakelocks and having unnecessary control over your personal data.
It'll probably be hidden but there's nothing the Android peeps can't solve right?

Use this or any other App Ops starter to access the hidden menu.

I have tried couple of these appops and non worked for me, when I open the app it just shuts by itself. Do you access it through the app itself or from somewhere else, am I missing something here??

I tried it on both my xperia Z1 and my xperia tablet Z, and they both do the same thing. I'm guessing sony took it out for their 4.3 update.

I'm also looking for an app ops that can work with my Z1... but can't get any... if someone can give a tip it will be highly appreciated.

Sony patched it up like Google did on 4.4.
Sorry guys, I just assumed it would work like it does on my other devices. I updated to 4.3 myself today. No luck. Root needed.

SnapDragon BatteryGuru Do what you are saying with 10/10 performance and add about 25% battery life.

Try this

I'm not on 290 right now, but if Sony patched it the same way that Google did, it's not possible to open the App Ops activity at all anymore.
XDA article: Source Code Commits in Android 4.4.2 KOT49H Reveal Flash SMS Attack Fix and App Ops Removal
Google code commit: android / platform/packages/apps/Settings / 37f06a4^! / .
Yes, the article refers to 4.4.2, but that doesn't mean Sony didn't incorporate it into their 4.3 release.

[idea] rom just for gaming nothing else, read for more info

I have just got a new phone to replace my xplay, now that i wont be using the play as a phone would it be possible to make a rom with all phone features removed?
Sent from my GT-P1010 using xda app-developers app
I got this idea few days ago. Planned to make it based on stock but too bad my exam is coming soon! Will do it after exam I guess.
A gaming kernel would be nice too, removing recording an some other things
- f3w1n -
You can flash NXT Light Edition and remove whatever you don't want to keep in /system .
May be a great deal for gaming: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649368
Oh, and you can begin flashing the .58 enhanced rom because it will give you 420MB of internal memory: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591398
With Lupus kernel and some CPU tuning (overclock, undervolt, CPU governor...) the games will run wonderfully
Guys, listen!
I'm actually working on it, will be based on stock ROM and GB.

I've successfully removed everything to do with phone/messaging on my Play, you just have to disable some on-boot services to stop the force closes (some services to do with Google Talk, there's 3 of em). I use Autostarts to do that
EDIT: If you group by application, go to Google Services Framework. The fourth "After Startup" service should be disabled. As well as both "Application Installed" services. Those are the only ones that need disabling to stop force closes (except you can't go into "about phone" anymore after removing the phone app)
Ok gonna give it a try
Sent from my GT-P1010 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for all positive comments
I will make 2 versions of the ROM:
Gamer
Gamer-Only
Gamer only will have apps like Dialer, SMS deleted. Gamer will have it but instead of original apps, i will replace them to some lightweight ones.
The rom will be named:
LeetGamer
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda app-developers app
*downloading system dump*
The package will be installed thru AROMA
I'm busy ATM. From 320MB Stock ROM full of bloat to 170MB (50+ apks deleted)...
When i get AROMA working i'll notify you guys and if someone will be interested i'll send ya beta
-Lightweight Launcher
-Working on stability and better speed

I love this idea. Really the only annoying thing about the stock Verizon rom is that the stupid activation screen pops up once in awhile when turning Airplane mode off, which I leave on most of the time to save battery.
If that activation screen could be stopped you could easily delete, or I would probably ignore, the phone things from system/apps
Great idea, but if you want to create gaming rom, please make it look like psp, this will be real psp phone

[APP] Quick-Fix for "Cannot Connect to Camera" error for Epinters CM10/CM10.1

[APP] Quick-Fix for "Cannot Connect to Camera" error for Epinters CM10/CM10.1
I know this should go in Atrix development, but I am relatively new to the community and cannot post in the development section yet.
I have been frustrated by the camera connectivity issue that has been affecting Epinters CM10 ROM. Luckily, Epinter posted an easy solution to fix this without rebooting the device.. Looks like this works Epinters CM10.1 ROM based on comments in that thread (I have not tested it).
I decided that it would be a good idea to wrap this in a simple app that would allow a one-click fix!
This app requires root in order to kill the mediaserver process.
To Use:
1) Install
2) Open "Atrix Camera Fix"
3) Click "Run Fix!"
4) Grant Superuser permission
5) DONE!
If there is interest, I could create a one-click widget to do this as well.
Changelog:
Version 1.1:Added ability to kill the gallery/camera app (com.android.gallery3d)
Click to collapse
Edit (Dec 11): Fixed typo. Thanks saldirai for letting me know!
Edit (Jan 1): Added changelog and updated apk
Edit (Mar 3): Seems to be compatible with Epinter's CM 10.1
Edit (Apr 12): Reports of working with CM 10.1/10.2 i9300 (International Galaxy S3) & CM11 sprint galaxy s3
This would have been a nice addition few months back, but I personally haven't run into this issue since the early CM10 builds. Maybe because I started using Camera FX, but camera always works and is never laggy like before. Still thanks for your work, I'm sure it will definitely help someone.

I still see this issue when using the stock camera, mostly after opening the camera multiple times in a relatively short period (~15 minutes) from the lock screen. I imagine that I can't be the only one seeing this. If this helps just one person, i'm happy!
Haven't used the stock camera in a long while, I remember it being annoying to restart. I'm sure there are going to be people who will enjoy this.
Try camera360 from the play store. It's free and has lots of options. It doesn't crash either...

Please ensure that you have granted Superuser permission?
My solution is to use tasker to run the shell command: kill -9 `pidof mediaserver`
On every screen wake. So every time I turn screen off and back on the cam is good to go.

My app does exactly that and adds the ability to kill Gallery, as it sometimes hangs when the camera stops working. Essentially the same solution with different implementation
Yeah I was pretty sure it did. I just wanted something a little more silent and automated. Useful regardless. Hopefully the new kernel devs will fix the problem with cameras entirely.
Note: although on the new alpha kernel the cam always connected for me, I still had problems where I would get "static" artifacts on the bottom of images. Running this fix solves that issue as well.

I read about your app once a while ago and then I wasn't able to find your thread and today I finally did.
You should make this app more popular since it helps a lot. I'm running an international S3 with CM10.2 and cause of the lack of source codes by Samsung this app is more than welcome on my device.
Thank you again!
It works!!
I found out that this also works for the camera problem on CM11 sprint galaxy s3

phone was brand new in the box
looked legit
had all the right hardware specs and software and all packaged as expected
however
started looking at a few things in details for example the imei
there are a few websites where you can query your imei and see what output it gets
mine showed some other brand and model of phone
leading me to believe my phone is one of those cheap replicas
and yet the look and feel and performance seems legit

I am having a slight problem with the forum. I can't seem to stay logged in all the time, even if the box is ticked. From time to time I must reenter my credentials, and that is a [first world problem] I know but is there something others has experienced or is it just me?
On the side note, this occurs in latest stable Chrome, latest dev build chrome, as well as latest stable FireFox.
I never click the link to log out, I just close the tab/window. And it appears to be quite random too, that I must reenter my credentials.
Thoughts? Solutions?

This is useful for people that don't wish to rely on Google services like the play store. I myself am paranoid on a much smaller scale, but people who are into security and experience paranoia have much different setups than a typical Android user.

Well if you delete certain apks then the phone is no longer stock therfore it can cause an ota to not install doesn't mean that will happen but it can depending on what's deleted so it's better to freeze apps than delete makes it easier to reverse changes if a problem should arise during the ota
Sent from my C6916 using Tapatalk
I don't think so.
Deleting apps does not make it "Non-stock"
There is no part of a OTA update that will check to see if all system apps are present before proceeding.
In fact, from the Sony website it is still possible to get OTA updates even with an unlocked bootloader (Let alone root, or deleted system apps), it just recommends that you do not do it, so OTAs do not rely on your phone being completely stock

True, but that may be because of root status and/or bootloader status.
As can be seen by the Sony site I linked to it has been possible, at least in the past, to OTA update with an unlocked bootloader.
Anyway, the point is moot, as it seems more and more people are having issues with OTA, and I don't know of anyone who has had one recently where it worked with an unlocked boot, so maybe things are changing in the new updates.
