Ok i just got a new laptop which is loaded with the new (but crappy) microsoft vista operating system. first off let me say this, vista is an ultra headache to deal with! i dont recommend anyone using this operating system, unbuntu (linux) is way easier than vista.
anyways, back to where i was going.... my other laptop, which is loaded with windows xp, succesfully installed the usb modem drivers for the apache 6700. but whenever i try to install the same exact driver on my new laptop it says "windows cannot find the specified file"! i pointed the driver file , .inf, to the correct directory and everything. i downloaded another dialer and driver file and put it on the desktop, still windows cannot find the file even though i point windows to it (cot damn vista!).
this leads me to believe that this driver file does not work under vista. can anyone else confirm this or tell me what im doing wrong? i tried many different ways of install the driver, but vista fails. please, can anyone help me?
no body huh?
vista and dun
i too have the same problem with vista... i have read and tried several "solutions" to this but none have worked for me- my computer keeps installing a treo driver which doesnt work- funny part is i can do a BT DUN @ about 115.2kbps but if i push it too hard the phone freezes... i have been thinking about installing xp on my brand new laptop that came with vista.
Anyone figure out how to install USB drivers on Vista, mines also installs Treo Drivers on its own i can't stop it from doing that, any insight?
I am using a PPCGeeks Rom (LennySH i think) and it has an application called internet sharing. When connected with my Vista laptop the laptop uses it automatically for internet no additional drivers needed.
It also has a bluetooth setting that Vista will use to connect to a "personal area network" and your online without the cable. However the usb connection is faster.

After many hours of searching, I've found the correct Webcam driver for the Shift X9500 model (i.e. 0c45&PID_62c0). This one is tested and verified to work. Tried several others, didn't work. It is the exact same driver used on Acer Aspire notebooks. I've repackaged it for all to use. Please note, it will come up on your Device Manager as "Acer Crystal Eye webcam" -not to worry, it works perfectly! Oh, and it's actually a Sonix driver, but still no model number to download the Sonix equivalent from http://www.sonix.com
http://rapidshare.com/files/214304160/SonixShiftCamDriverXP.zip.html
Please can someone host this download somewhere else as RapidShare says its 10 downloads have been used up already
Thank you!
Why do you need these drivers? I didn't need to install any drivers for web-camera. I think XP has drivers for it. When I installed XP (SP2 and SP3) the drivers were installed automatically and it is working perfectly at least with Skype.
my camera driver was auto recognized by windows update
Ah, well I haven't got as far as any windows updates yet... I need actually to reinstall Windows anyway as the chipset driver failed to load and after about 15 different attempts to load it now, doesn't make any difference... so I have to sit for another evening waiting for WinXP to install.
On the bright side I have finally got XP to install so am hopeful about everything else working too!
I can confirm that WinXP does indeed have software for the webcam - but only with SP2 or better. Of course you need SP2 to install the rest of the XP drivers anyway as I discovered the (very) long way!
webcam driver is optional
this webcam driver is optional in case you want to see something else other than "usb webcam" in your "imaging devices" list of windows xp. it isn't needed, but just an enhancement. i've never had a problem with rapidshare, let's you download files every 15minutes, better than most other hosting sites.
Hi, I stumbled upon this post as I badly need the HTC Shift webcam driver. Do any of you still have a copy? Can you guys give me a link? Or can you point me to any direction?
An odd one....
I have one of the HD2 Android releases on my phone, and it's working fine EXCEPT....
USB tethering does not work.
Now here's the odd part.
1. I have two machines. Both running Win7/x64.
2. One loads the RNDIS driver and works fine. The other can't find the driver on Windows Update.
I have no clue what's going on, but the USB signature is VID_0bb4&PID_0FFe, which is valid for the HTC Sapphire.
And, like I said, the other machine -also running Win7 - finds it just fine.
Any ideas?
Answering my own question...
If you run into this, put this somewhere on your disk and point "Update Driver" at it.
It'll work.
Now why this was on the disk of ONE machine (which worked) and NOT the other (which did not), and why Windows Update wouldn't find it either (!!!) is unknown.
All I know is that this is the file that Windows 7 wanted, and didn't have on one of the computers - but did have on the other.
i'm running Windows 7 x64 and when i start usb tethering from android on HD2 there is Android Device driver missing in Device Manager, I've read that Windows 7 already have Remote NDIS support so no need for seperate driver download if you have Windows Mobile Device Center but it ain't working, the same problem as you had.
Luckely, your solution and this separate driver works, Windows 7 complains about unsigned driver but who cares, USB tethering is working
Thanks!
didn't work...
i attempted installing the driver OEM106.inf, but received an error once it was loaded on my pc:
"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"
i was having similar problems as Genesis trying to tether my Android phone via USB to my pc and receiving a Remote NDIS driver problem (same as above). I successfully tethered my phone to my PC once (and only once), but after I woke the computer from sleep mode, my pc began giving me errors on the "Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device" stating that windows cannot load the drivers ("rndismpx.sys" & "usb8023x.sys"). I haven't been able to tether via USB since then.
Windows Update states the driver is up to date, and when I tried Genesis3's driver fix, it only gave me the same error.
Any ideas?
Running win7/x64 on a toshiba i3, and a HTC nexus 1 running android 2.2.2
The files referenced have somehow been damaged or destroyed. Find them from another machine and put them back, and the OEM file I posted will work.
Those two files have to be on your machine - the OEM file is the pointer to them, but the base-level drivers have to exist.
you may need the latest version of htc sync
i did all my flashing on an xp computer and when i got win7 i just could not get any drivers to work. i downloaded the latest version of htc sync and all the drivers loaded just fine. time to flash this thing again ive had the same rom for two weeks
This is what I was looking for, and it worked for me, thanks!
PISSA! Tried for a while to get usb tethering to work and this did it! Took a minute for windows to sort things out after the driver update but its working! THANK YOU!

Worked like a charm, thanks! I just had to update driver with provided file and it started working. Thank you very much again! Bump may not be a bad idea, maybe few more users will solve their problems with this. HD2 isn't a native Android device, so it wasn't that strange that it didn't worked out-of-the-box even with Win7 RDNIS (or sth like that) native support.

I would like to share my solution. I modified the oem.inf file in the oem.zip(above) ,by changing the manufacturer name and device id as given in the PC 's device manager(unknown device).
It should work for xp,seven,vista.

Ok so here is my situation. I have a HP Touchsmart 520-1030 and I am wanting to use windows 8 with the touchscreen. That being said it appears that on both the Developer and Consumer release that the driver for it does not work well with Windows 8 even though it works fine on Windows 7 (I have it dual booted on seperate partitions).
So here is a description of what I have attempted so far.
Downloaded the Driver package from HP's Website and ran. Wouldnt install as gave OS version error.
So I ran in compatibility mode Windows 7 with admin permissions (also taken ownership). I get the same error about the OS version.
I then went to NextWindow's website and downloaded the original (older) drivers from there. It says its installed but does not work (device manager showing touchscreen with a ! on it.)
I then tried to update the driver in DM and search gives an error.
I then browsed to the installation folder of the drivers and it states cant find driver.
I then went back and compared it with windows 7 drivers and see the "touchscreen" driver is NextWindow Voltron Touchscreen. I then compared the Hardware IDs and sure enough they are the same ID's (I believe).
I then used a universal extractor and extracked the package for HP and NextWindow and attempted to manually update the driver through DM. It updates but I get an error with the HP packages (code:10 Device will not start) It shows correctly now but has ! next to the name
I rolled it back and updated with the NextWindow Drivers the same way. It installed successfully but when attempting to use the touchscreen no response. (also name is different NextWindow Multi-Touch Device)
so I rolled back and attemped to update manually without the extracted packages (using Windows Default ID's it has) I see one that states NextWindow and it seems to have the same information as the packages. I get the same errors.
So natrually now I see it seems to be the NextWindow Drivers are what is causing the problem. In doing research (reports on multiple forums) it appears that many all-in-one or overlaid monitor is having the same issue with the NextWindow Drivers. Now that being said I have seen what appears to be HP Touchsmart 610's running Windows 8 on youtube (developers build as the are older vids) and doubt that MS would have removed the drivers if they were working.
So the Bounty for me will start at $40 Dollars starting at the time of this post. Every 24 hours that this post remains unsolved I will dock $1 dollars from the total bounty (basically im looking for a quick solution not one after drivers have been redone by the NextWindow already.) If you can solve this its a quick $40 for just basically searching around and seeing something I couldnt figure out. This also may help ALOT of people that have All-in-ones as these drivers are made for multiple PC's with touchscreen devices (8 manufactuers total such as Sony, Lenovo, HP, ect.)
Good Luck (and I prefer to pay via Paypal to make things easy.)
Try locate the driver inside the System32 file on a Windows 7 computer then copy it to the Windows 8 computer, hit Update Driver and point it at the driver you just copied. Basically this is manually installing the driver without the .exe installer HP provided you (and gives the OS error). Almost all Windows 7 drivers work on Windows 8, just the package you use does not.
Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Your Device > Right click it > Properties > Driver > Driver Details.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately that was a no go. Unless im not reading the driver names correctly I have copied them from on drive to the other and attempted to update it that way. Same results.
These were the drivers I copied and moved from System32
drivers\mshidkmdf.sys
drivers\NWTransLibV.sys
drivers\NWVoltron.sys
WdfCoInstaller01009.dll
Thanks for the input though.

Hi I did not figure this out but i'm having the same problem, I found this solution on the microsoft website questions and answers. Pleasr let us know if this works for you. Thanks. I had tried that but the install would not start because it didn't see the OS as valid.
BUT I did get it to work by doing a restore to factory settings (Windows 7) and rerunning the Windows 8 install directly from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/download and selecting to KEEP the installed apps and user files. On my failed Win8 install attempt I used a Windows 8 ISO file and selected to NOT keep any apps or user files.
Not sure which if the 2 changes made the difference but the touch screen works now in Win 8.
Ok, I tried this out and it does work. I have a hp 520-1031 and now my touch screen works with windows 8
So only way around from what I see is to install windows 7 first then run windows 8 as an update. Though this isn't the solution I was hoping for (as now I have to install windows 7 on a partition first then rerun the install for windows 8) I do thank you for your efforts and the bounty is yours Tragicwayz
you can PM me your information and by the end of next week your payment of $27 will be in your box (this is calculated from the time of your first post of the solution from the time I started the thread)
Thanks again
You are welcome, I have tried many solutions as well but could not get the touch screen working. I hope this helps others with their touchscreen.
I have a TS 7320 and the touchscreen driver for Windows 8 didn't work either. Next I installed Win7 x64 to get it running before upgrading to Win8.
Unfortunately, my device won't install the drivers from de HP website, nor from NextWindow. I looked at the INF file and there is a difference in the device id. My PC shows a 'REV_0008&MI_02' addition to the VENID and DEVID. Altering the INF file manually makes the install work, but the driver fails with error 10 (won't start)…
Any suggestions where to get a working driver for Windows 7 x64?
(I wiped the disk to install Win8, so no recovery disk/partition from HP )
moved to general

Why offer a bounty if you are not going to pay it.
So the solution is to upgrade from Win 7?
sounds more like a work around to me.
If it were me id mod the drivers, within the INF file for the drivers you downloaded it will state which OS versions are excepted. all you have to do is make Win 8s version an excepted version, then point the INF to the win 7 driver its self, usually the driver folder may contain drivers for several versions of windows if it doesn't the its just a case of adding win 8s version number to it.
Modifing the inf file and re-sign it.
Maybe you should follow the steps that I did to install Windows 7 display driver, but do it for the multi-touch driver. Since I can't provide a link, do a web seach for "running-angry-birds-on-the-build-samsung-tablet-with-windows-8-consumer-preview"

Trying to get the multitouch working. Downloaded these drivers from nextwindow http://www.nextwindow.com/nextwindow_support/windriver.html
The driver had no effect on the multitouch, so it's still single touch...
Does someone have a clue how to get multitouch working?
Solution !
Here's what you need to do to get Multitouch working on a HP Touchsmart 520 under Windows 8:
1.) download Intel Graphics Beta driver from downloadcenter.intel.com
2.) install the latest Voltron driver from HP driver base.
This isn't very stable unfortunately (screen freezes from time2time).
But it's the requested solution (4 the time being).
Cheers
No solution !

Crap ! I have to correct myself. Due to the bugginess I reinstalled Win8. Now the Touchscreen driver won't install any more, no matter what display driver I use.
WTF ?
I have no idea in which section to write this, so General seams like the best choice.
I have a Galaxy Y testing device with a broken boot.img. I am trying to get Odin working in Windows 7 in order to flash a new boot.img to this device, but I can't get the Samsung USB drivers to work and my Windows knowledge is now that great as I mostly work on Linux computers, but no fastboot on Samsung devices.
There are two drivers listed in the Device Manager. The Regular Samsung USB drivers, and something called Samsung USB CDC. It's the CDC I seam to have issues with. It just shows an error message that states "The device could not start (Code: 10)". I have already talked to Samsungs online support, but there is not much support to find there. They know nothing about Windows or how to get anything working on it. And google's search engine, which usually is the best friend for something like this, did not come up with much either.
I should mention that I run Windows in VirtualBox. However, I already have HTC Sync Manager fully working with an older HTC device, so this is not a VBox issue. Also, Windows do find the device just fine, it just can't start one of the drivers.
I have tried installing Kies. I have also tried installing other separate driver versions. Nothing is working.
Search the forums for Naked Drivers, its a complete driver package for a lot of android devices.
Give em a try.
I would post a link but my post count is as such that I cannot at this time.

I love the idea of a multi driver for all devices, much like on my linux boxes, so thanks for that. However, I get the same issue and same error message. I will try to reinstall windows and see if that will work. It has been many many years since I ran windows as my daily OS, but I do remember that formatting was the best way of fixing issues with it. If this is still no go, I will try to put windows directly on my netbook to see if this could be a Virtual problem anyways, but I don't think so. USB stuff is working fine on the Virtual OSX.
Will report back later
EDIT:
Nothing is working. All I have installed, is the naked driver. When I plug-in my HTC Desire or HTC Wildfire S, the driver is working fine. But when I plug-in the Galaxy S3 or the Galaxy Y, I get the "The device cannot start (Code: 10)".
So HTC devices are working, but Samsung is not. The same problem I had with separate HTC and Samsung drivers.
try the one from my link, its latest usb driver exe from kies, worx on win8 64bit too.

Thanks, but I have tried that version, and the one newer (1.5.23). I did manage, efter some reinstalls, to get 1.5.18 (I think is was) to work on the real installation. So maybe my issue is with virtualbox, I just can't see what. I have disabled everything in linux that could block something, I have disabled firewall and such on the virtual windows, I have tried checking and changing perms on the linux device nodes, and tried running VB as root.
At least I got the Galaxy Y running again, but I don't like having unresolved issues so VB is going down
