Happy New Year! - Galaxy Note II General

As we step into 2014, many things awaits us. There are uncountable things happening on XDA each day, including ROM releases, updates, people screaming for help, and of course, the developers who spend countless hours writing ROMs for us.
To all developers, you have been working countless of hours for us to enjoy more customization, more Android. This is all created, due to the developer's will, and determination. We all love updates, bug fixes, but a New Year is a New Year, celebrate all you want, and when u come back, to write more code, you know you're refreshed, ready to go and fix more and more bugs. Happy New Year to you, developers.
People might have bricked their phones or lost their IMEI, and they know, XDA is the place to come. I thank you, for placing faith and trust in their members of XDA. Through the process of helping others, we have learnt something. We all have to start somewhere, don't we? Some may have started as a i-just-moved-to-android-from-ios-what-now, and may have progressed to become a Recognized Contributor, keep even a Developer. As we leave 2013 behind, I'm sure that members of XDA, will always be there to provide assistance to others.
Lastly, to our beloved Samsung Galaxy Note II, Happy New Year to u. You have accompanied us, throughout our bootloops and bricks (RIP hard bricked Note IIs) but have most of the time (if not all) recovered from those and continue to become a faithful phablet. As the New Year passes, I hope for more cool and awesome ROMs to go with your utterly stunning hardware. (S-Pen, u shall be loved)
Stepping into a new year is like being a new-born baby, you don't know what will happen, you don't know how will it happen, you don't know anything. On this note, I would like to wish all XDA members a very Happy New Year, and hope that 2014 will be as fruitful as 2013 was. (Or more, I don't care. )
Once again, a very Happy New Year to all XDA members!

Happy new year to all of you!

Happy New Year!

I know this may not quite be the right forum for this, but I did want to wish all of you users and developers a great and happy new year! I bought my first Android phone on Jan. 5th (the Nexus One) and coming over from 2.5 years of iPhone, I haven't looked back. This forum is what continues to spark and keep my interest in the platform, be it playing with some shiny ROMs or chiming in on interesting ideas and debates.
I've learned a ton from everyone here and I wish XDA and all its users the best! Cheers to a great 2011!!
(Posting in N1 and NS forums, as they were/are my first and current phones)
Happy New Year to you aswell.

i9000 - the smartest purchase ever

So, back in 2010, my wife and I were looking for new phones to buy. I had a Nokia E71 while hers was an outdated SE feature phone, and she desperately needed a smartphone to keep track of her emails. She was hell bent on getting a Blackberry. I tried reasoning with her, and she finally agreed not to get a blackberry, but then she started insisting on getting a Nokia instead. This was around Valentine's Day in 2010, I tried telling her that some great Android Phones are about to be launched, she should wait, or better still get an iPhone.
The sad state of affairs in India in Feb 2010 was such that Apple were releasing the previous year's iPhone model (3GS I think) a month before the new model was announced. I could not let her buy an outdated iPhone for INR 36,000 when she could get the latest Nokia N97 Mini for INR 24,000. I still implored her to wait for newer Android phones.
She decided she couldn't wait and she got an N97 Mini for Valentine's Day . I must say I was also interested in some Symbian devices at the time, but I kept telling myself that I could make the E71 last a few more months and make a call when the newer Androids were released.
Finally i9000 released in July 2010, and I heard the world going crazy over the internet. I still kept waiting, and I finally decided that I needed to make sure that this phone would be future proof like the HD2.
The clincher for me was XDA. I saw so many people boasting of updated i9000 ROMs for each android release that I finally purchased my own i9000 on 11/11/10.
Not disappointed at all. Have you seen the number of JB ports available for i9000? Tell me one phone that was released at the same time and has such brilliant community support. All I can say is, my brother's Desire HD cannot find even a single decent ICS ROM.
Thats right we are awesome. We know
I agree with the great community support. Yet, maybe we are also lucky because it is very much close with Nexus.
Yeah I switched from my N8 to an i9000 a couple months back and haven't looked back. I was bored of modding Symbian^3 it was just so locked down... almost why I couldn't live with an iPhone, they're great devices stock but Android devices are great stock but with heeeuuugeeeee potential.
Go open source as much as you can
I'm always motivated to the open source devices and software
I bought it during the release years ago and I'm still checking these forums everyday looking for something new.
It's still working like a charm and I love it! Thanks for the great community developing roms!

I had mine till today when I got i9300....and fast as the i9000 is I'm blown away by the s3, just plain gorgeous, but I'm hanging on to my s1 as I consider it to be so iconic and will continue flashing it and testing roms and supporting this community cos it is so much fun, it's dead over at the s3 forum, to many serious people!

Was gonna get i9300 last week but when i sampled it in the store i thought the screen was huge. Seriously its like a tablet that makes phone calls.
Don't get me wrong im not saying bigger isn't better LOL!! but a phone is a phone and a tablet is a tablet. So what next the gs4 will be a 42 Inch LCD?
I got mine about 1 1/1 year ago, but was a bit bored and anoyed by all the samsung and telco stuff
so I started flashing about six month ago and I never will go back to stock. I'ts also great to be in this comunity,
you learn so much stuff and it's interesting wat's going on... :good:

What did I say ?
Had my i9000 for about a year and a half.
Don't regret it in the slightest. If my device makes it to 3 years old I'll still be using it as my main phone.

Goodbye Thread for GT540 users

Well guys, our device isn't getting any younger, and many of us have got new devices. In order to keep the forums cleaner this thread is meant for saying goodbye.
I've got a Nexus S, but I still have GT540 lying around, I just want to say thanks to our devs for making our device such a wonderful and interesting experience, also I want to thank everyone who helped me and answered my mostly stupid questions. I'll still visit GT540 forums but probably less often.
Again, thanks everybody!!!
Odlicna promena, nek te sluzi bolje nego gt540.

As i have not much time these days it'll be unrooted for now
But my gt540 is still working and thats why i will not leave this forum. i'm so happy to be a part of it and i'm proud of this little piece of plastic!
shipped with 1.6 and now bumped up to 4.1 (its awesome on gnex) and completely new built kernels .. there are not many phones out there with such a fantastic support for 2-3 years old phones. I want to say thanks to everybody developing and testing and contributing and spamming :cyclops: big thanks goes to grift and our developers, especially miroslav, your awesome work made my phone usable. I'll continue using your ROMs, they're the best.
You guys can always contact me and i'll always visit this forum!

Goodbye too
I say goodbye to the community GT540 too. I bought a Galaxy S i9000. So thanks to all the developers who keep this device alive.
I didnt want to create a new topic, so I wrote it here
hi guys,
bought a LG Optimus 2x ...
last rom i flashed to gt540 was miro's last AOSP because there is no need for swap (and an sd-card) and its stable and fast...
But know he has also left so its time to change ...
I'll randomly look into this forum, but for now I'll molest the devs in Optimus 2x-Thread
Goodbye!!!
Bye man
i got my HTC One V a few months ago. just gave my GT540 away to charity (screen was broken for the 4th time anyways , and couldnt get the motivation to fix it) still look in these forums from time to time, for nostalgia purposes i guess goodbye to you all and it's been a great 3 years
After a long time away i decided to stop in here for a while. The gt540 was my first android phone, in fact it was my first smart phone. Since then i have had galaxy s, galaxy s2, desire hd, hd2, iphone 4, 4s and 5.... In no particular order.
Learning how to root and install roms were all part of the fun and learning. It was great being part of this community.
And now i must say..... Goodbye
