[Q] Safestrap 3.70 installed but not working on reboot. - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently rooted my Verizon note 3 using Kingo root and installed Safestrap 3.70. It shows that it is installed but when I go to reboot to recovery it just boots straight up. It was working before and then when I recently used odin to go back to stock rom and re rooted it is no longer working. Anybody have any ideas why? Thanks in advance and I am an android noob of about 3 weeks.

After installing did you go to the program and tell it to update/install the recovery?
After doing this reboot and it should show recovery option.
Hope this helps.

Do you have busy box installed?

If you revert to SS 3.65 do you still have the problem?

[Q] Failed Custom Recovery Update w/ Dandroid 4.4

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S4 ATT I337UCUAMDL
Model Number in settings on 4.4 ROM = GT-I9505G
As the title says, I installed dandroid's newest 4.4 ROM from WICKED v5 4.2.2 and lost root. So I attempted to update my CWM Recovery from Odus 1x to the newest using Odin which failed do to write protected I suppose all though others says that doesnt effect their installs.
Where I'm at:
Cannot boot into recovery, says booting recovery the just reboots and enters Dandroid's ROM w/o root.
I'm now lost and have been reading the forums for hours. Currently downloading STOCK Samsung firmware for my device I337UCUAMDL_I337ATTAMDL_ATT.zip
CASUAL failed.
What do I need to do to get back to WORKING custom recovery w/ rooted dandriod 4.4 kitkat rom. Should I use Odin and flash stock rom then motochopper to root and try to reinstall working CWM recovery?
Please advise best course of action. My phone had been working properly with every ROM I tried before update to 4.4 ROM and attempted CWM recovery update (thinking that would fix my root issue). Thanks all!
If you have a nandroid, and I hope you do, just restore that in your custom recovery. If you don't, then you're going to have to return to stock with odin
Tried motochopper on the phone as it sits and it fails as well.
I have a stock backup but the problem is I no longer have access to any recovery. Guess I'm just gonna have to flash the stock firmware with Odin when its finished downloading and start over.
Just finished Odin flash back to samsung factory firmware. Phone stuck at att world logo on bootup, still can't access recovery. Any ideas?

If you flashed Odin successfully you can get into recovery.
Finally got into recovery it rebooted 3 times but just holding the req. buttons finally got me in.
Back on factory firmware and rooted w/ cwm recovery all back in place properly worrking.
I would like to use the Dandroid 4.4 ROM with this device. When I install am I going to lose root again and if so, how I do I get it back on this device since the model in the settings is going to change from I337 to I9505G after installing this ROM?
Figured it all out last night, re-flashed Dandroid's latest ROM which still caused me to loose root, then flashed SuperSU 1.51 instead of 1.80 and regained root. All is right in the world now.

Hey, if you dont mind me asking where did you get the 1.51 zip to flash? I'm having a similar issues with same ROM where i lost root but have recovery access.
Thanks
Update: Found the file. Flashed it. Root is back. Have you let market update it automatically? If so did you lose root afterwords?

[Q] Rooted Note3 won't flash new roms

i Have a rooted Note 3 (verizon) and it will not flash new roms. I tried CWR and safestrap 3.70 (latest?)
It goes through the motions but ends up either getting in a boot loop or rebooting with stock rom?
I have:
Andriod version 4.3
Baseband Version N900VVRUBMJE
Kernel 3.4.0
Build Number JSS15J.N900VVRUBMJE
SE--- Permissive
Hardware Version N900V.07
I should note that it is rooted but.... that was a pain.. and none of the methods on this site worked.... I had to use Kongo.
Thanks,
Kevin

It sounds like you may have installed Safestrap apk but not recovery?
Is Safestrap in your app drawer? If not, install the safestrap.apk
Open Safestrap - Select Install Recovery - Reboot
At boot after Samsung screen, there should be a Safestrap screen with a 10 sec timeout with a selection "recovery"
Do you see that?

But do you see the recovery screen. I'd you don't see that then safestrap hasn't installed the recovery yet. Once you have done that the You can start using a rom slot for custom roms.
Hope this helps.

I am currently having the same issue. fist i install safestrap recovery, then i boot into recovery with safestrap. After that i create the rom space then i activate that space and wipe it as well. From there i install the rom its says the rom is installed but it always tell me md5 not found. once it reboot it just sits at a black screen until i boot back into recovery and go back to stock. Finally my phone is a AT&T unlocked and rooted note 3. my model number is sm-900a android version 4.3. i would appreciate any help or response that i get back thanks in advance.

This safestrap is for Verizon only, you should ask this in the AT&T thread. I think you can install Clockwork Mod or Team Win recoveries on your phone.
I'm having the exact same problem too. I try to install a custom ROM on my Note 3, says the installation was a success, then it just sits there with a black screen forever when I reboot. What do I do?

Error installing 4.4.4

I have a SM-N900V that is about 13 months old. I used Towelroot to root it when I could not edit files on my SD card. It also had Safestrap Recovery. I am still running the stock 4.4.2 and wanted to upgrade to 4.4.4. I used the Safestrap app to remove the Safestrap Recovery and used Super SU to remove the Root. I know that I am unrooted and when I boot into Recovery, Safestrap is gone. I still have the words Custom and the Unlocked Lock picture on my Splashscreen.
If I go to Settings/About Phone and click on Software Update, I can Download it. When I click on Install, it boots into Recovery and starts to Install but stops about 1/3 of the way with the green Android and the word "Error", then it Reboots.
How do I successfully install 4.4.4?
I have successfully Rooted and installed Custom Roms on a Droid Eris, HTC Thunderbolt, and Galaxy S3 using CWM Recovery. Because there were issues putting CWM on the Note 3, I just Rooted it and did not add any Custom Roms.
Do a factory restore and then try....or, flash the stock NC4 ROM via Odin and then upgrade

I tried the Factory Wipe and Erase Data, then Reboot and Upgrade to 4.4.4. I always see Custom. on the Splash Screen, with the Unlocked Lock image and then see the Error message while Installing. Then, it reboots. I have never used Odin, but I will try it. Where do I find Odin and the NC4 Rom?

As it turned out, flashing the Stock 4.4.2 Rom, with Odin, got rid of the issue preventing me from Upgrading to 4.4.4 and also restored the Samsung Splash Screen.
One issue I ran across was the link to the Odin download also downloaded Spyware to my W7 machine. Among other things, a Launch Bar appeared near the bottom of my Desktop. I was able to go into Add/Remove programs and Uninstall all 4 programs.
I still am annoyed by the fact that I cannot edit files on my SD card. It appears that Towelroot does not work with 4.4.4 as it did with 4.4.2.

[Q] Att S4 Flashing Issue

I was able to downgrade the phone to NB1 and root it with Towelroot, and used Safestrap in order to get recovery on the device.
After that, I booted into recovery and installed the GPE 5.0.1 ROM.: http://galaxys4root.com/t-mobile-galaxy-s4-roms/gpe-android-5-0-1-lollipop-rom-for-galaxy-s4/
Now the phone will not go past the S4 splash page, reboots and then goes into the stock recovery. Ive tried factory reset, clearing cache and removing the battery.
Any help is appreciated. I bought this phone for my fiance and am wanting to give it to her soon as a present.
Thank you so much in advance.
I think the problem is that you downgraded.

I couldnt install towelroot on the 4.4.4 version it came with since it said device wasnt supported.
I was following these instructions: http://www.droidviews.com/root-att-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337-android-4-4-4-kitkat-firmware-i337ucufnj4/
It states to downgrade, then root, then go back to the 4.4.4. I thought after the steps I took, I could go straight to a custom ROM.
Thanks
I used CF-Auto-Root to root my device. Since towelroot didn't work for me either.
Maybe the rom did not flash right. Try flashing again.
problem in installing lollipop rom india to samsung i9500
I have installed the newly released lollipop rom to my samsung i9500 through odin. it was successfully flashed but the phone cant restart, it stuck with samsung written on the screen and blue light on...what i should do???

Which Version of TWRP for Note 4 SM-N910U 5.1.1.

Hey guys,
So yesterday i had a NIGHTMARE.
I had a note 4 running on 5.0.1 which was rooted with CF Auto Root. I decided i wanted to install TWRP. I flashed it with odin using the version i thought would be correct. But ended up NOT being able to boot my phone and being stuck on the Samsung Logo screen with the SEANDROID red error message.
I tried everything and eventually just downloaded the STOCK 5.0.1 rom and flashed it with Odin and my phone was back to normal.
I now need to Re-root my phone again and hopefully get twrp installed.
My main question is which version of TWRP should i use?
Also when i look at the CF Auto Root page, i see for the SM-910U they seem to only have a file for 5.1.1. So does that mean i should update from 5.0.1 - 5.1.1. first before rooting?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Yes, you should update.
Look for twrp at xda. There are threads about twrp for note4
