hello. I have rooted my phone with the instruction in XDA forum with CF auto root. all goes well, but I have a problem in recovery (both CWM and TWRP). I can't use memory card. both of them telling that can't mount usb storage and memory card. in other words I can't mount them and I can't select zip file from SD card to flash. I have to copy files I want to flash to internal memory. and strange thing is that when I connect my phone to PC in recovery mode, there is no response! PC can't recognize my phone in recovery. in device manager there are some hardware parts that couldn't recognize like Samsung android USB device (sth like that) and CSC. can someone help me?

TWRP I know has the cannot mount USB error, but it is more for OTG afaik. I can view my sd card OK. - it is possible you have a bad flash (but bad flashing from both is weird) - go back to Stock, then try and flash again, see what happens. All I can think of currently.
EDIT: when you connect your phone to the PC in recovery mode (twrp/cwm) it won't show up. mine doesn't at least, I figure this is normal

I tried, the problem still exists! someone said that maybe with releasing Philz recovery, maybe my problem solve, but it seems that it takes a lot longer than releasing for N9005!

Hello,
my screen broke and I am pissed...
I want to try to have it replaced under warranty and yes I see myself the futility of this, but hey, trying won't hurt.
I already flashed JM1 to make it stock again and would like to format the internal SD card as it still contains personal data.
Can anyone tell me how I can achieve this without actually seeing what I do?
All other aspects of the phone actually work meaning I can still boot into recovery or download mode (in order to flash with odin), but I won't be able to see what I do.
connect via odin and tick repartion, should wipe everything, but beware of the pit files ak to choose the right one

On a freshly flashed stock ROM, the default USB setting is set to Kies (through the MTP application), so soon as you connect it to a PC with Kies on it, you should be able to access your internal drive from there. Let us know how it goes.
Any help would be appreciated at this point :/
Phone had been rooted, installed TWRP, downloaded the ROM I wanted and put it on external SD card... good so far?
Rebooted into recovery, made sure ROM and gapps were in the correct folder, wiped everything accordingly...The *contents* in the folder in which the ROM and gapps were placed were deleted. The folder its self was not, nor were any other folders or their contents in the mother folder.
Any clues? Now I'm sitting here stuck in either recovery or download mode whichever I so choose and the computer cannot identify the phone for me to transfer files over.
Uh......

Odin back to stock ROM.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337
You could uninstall and reinstall the USB drivers and use a USB port that directly connects to the motherboard (back of the PC) and try flashing stock again via Odin. Or, head down to Walmart and grab a micro sd card to place your rom, gapps, backups, etc on. I highly...HIGHLY recommend using a micro sd card if you plan on living the rooted life
How about taking out the external sd card, plug into computer and transfer rom and gapps onto card, put card back into phone and then reboot back into recovery.

This is your best bet. Otherwise you could adb push the ROM and gapps to your sd. But if you're not set up for adb, that's a lot of work.

Thanks guys for all the information. I have been having issues with installing the drivers correctly (Win8) but Kies seems to work well for the most part. I decided to open Kies and do the emergency restoration and it's back to normal now.
Question: If one were to restore it via Kies, could another model number be searched for and installed? ie the i9500 or i9505 firmware? Just a thought.
Anyway, thanks again... oh and I do have a micro sd card. I came from the Skyrocket and flashed probably half a million times lol. This is what threw me for a loop, deleting the ROM from inside the folder but not the folder, nor anything else on the sd card.

Hehe, I figures just as much. Wasn't going to try it anyway, unless it was maybe the Google version without all the crapware, which is supposed to be released shortly from my understanding

I always do this. It will save you time to make sure you keep a hard copy of your main roms on your PC. And have a way to transfer them to your mini sd (old phone, usb device, or mini to full size adapter. As most PC's have a full size slot. This method has saved me countless hrs.. Flashed about 15 roms on my new S4 and haven't even downloaded Oden.. But I've had to use this method twice. Works great.

Then when i press cancel , recovery doesn't read any memory to install from it or backup or restore or or ...
I think internal memory damaged as i can't write on it neither read from it

thanks,
only thing is it says i have only 3.06GB / 9GB available storage and there is nothing listed that is taking up 6GB of space
Hi all,
I have a really strange issue. I'm on galaxy i9505 4.4.2 rooted with CWM 6.0.4.4.
I tried to create a backup zip file with CWM. As I didn't have enough space, it failed.
No probs... I rebooted my phone and it says I've not enough space on internal SD.
Under memory (screenshot attached) I see the bar having more or less 1,5GB free.
Instead the free space is just 387MB....
My first thought is, there's still a temp file of the zip I wanted to backup, but I searched everywhere and I can't find it...
Help!

I'd love to. I didn't because I upgraded to 4.4.2 before rooting etc.
Runs Philz also om 4.2.2 now?
Should I simply flash it on top of CWM with odin or do I need to remove something manually first?

Perfect.
So now I've flashed PhilZ. All best.
Rebooted: still missing those 1 GB.... grrr...
Now I'm thinking to format my internal SD.
What's the better way to do it?
Since it's impossible from stock rom anymore, i guess the only option would be from PhilZ.
BTW I'd also like to install MIUI later, so should I do simply a factory reset and full wipe?
Thanx BTW. :good:

Sandro,
Have you looked up what @smep said about looking at clockworkmod folder & see if it's still holding some space from your unsuccessful backup ?
Also yes you can format using Philz recovery. Always wipe if moving roms unless Dev states not to

Yep. I have 3 files inside (seen with Root Browser):
.nomedia (0 Byte)
.recovery_version (37,00 B)
.settings (285 B)
I don't think those 3 are occupying space... its just strange that .nomedia has 0 Bytes...
Is this folder also used by PhilZ?
About formatting with PhilZ:
-boot
-system
-cache
-preload
-data
-storage/sdcard1
-data and data/media
I'd go for sdcard1 only, but it seems the external one, right?.
Or should I also format one of these?
Thanx
Sandro
Ok for the second question I've found this thread:

I've formatted the last voice (data and data media (sd card)).
I have to recover all the stuff from backup, but now I have correct values of space.
Anyway, time to install a custom rom
