[Q] Safestrap w/ Hyperdrive - Can't install on bigger slot than 3gb - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed Hyperdrive on my Note 3 using Safestrap but I was advised to make a new rom slot which is only allowed to be 3gb due to the stock slot being the majority of the internal space. Is there a way to delete the stock slot to use this space? Or a way to reduce the stock slots size? Is the only option to install the custom rom on the stock slot?
Please help.

I have mine installed on my stock slot

"How To Flash Daily Driver Into Stock Rom Slot
1. Back up Stock Slot to sdcard
2. Restore back up Stock Rom to open ROM slot 1-4 (optional)
3. Boot from restored slot to ensure functionality (optional)
4. Wipe Stock Slot (no dev support for dirt flashes)
5. Flash/Restore Rom to Stock Slot
6. Delete un-used ROM slots 1-4 (you can only delete a ROM from the slot, the empty slot remains)
7. Boot into Rom on Stock slot
8. Enjoy."

rom slot

how i can erase a rom slot or empty?
For a ROM slot, not the stock slot.
If you go to , I think it's boot options in recovery, and choose stock slot. then choose activate. Once the slot that you are not trying to delete is the active slot, you can go into whichever slot you would like to delete and delete it.

It sounds like you have a bad download. Retry it and check the md5 with this. Download the ROM, check the md5, copy it to your extSD, reboot to SS and try again. If the ROM slot gives you problems try the stock slot. I always flash to the stock slot. The worst that will happen is you will have to Odin back to stock but most likely not if you have a backup on the extSD.
I've seen that. What version of Safestrap?

Help with SafeStrap (Can't mount) - Want to remove all slots

Hi, I have created about 3 slots with 3 custom roms. I am on 4.4. Each time I flash with Jasmine Rom, it works for about 2-3 days and then "Unable to mount system partition" came up when I tried to mount it again. So, the only slot that currently works is the Stock slot which I flashed with the Original De-odexed Rom.
Is there a way I can use Odin to flash with the original De-odexed Rom while removing all the slots (partitions) that Safestrap created? If so, can you give me specific instructions because I am not very good at this.
Thanks!

How do I remove rom slot?

How do we remove the safe strap partition once created?
I updated to 5.0 and I noticed that I have one 1 gig of space free and I think its because I created a partition for Rom Slot 1 in safe strap.
I don't have a S5 but did have a Razr Maxx with safestrap installed. Assuming it's the same, you boot to safestrap, select boot options, select rom slot 1 and then press the delete button.
I can no longer access safe strap because of 5.0, any other suggestions?

You can odin a nk2 kernel, boot to safestrap, delete the partition, boot to download mode and flash the oa8 kernel in safestrap.

You should be able to delete it by using a file manager. Look on your internal sd for a folder named safestrap. You should find one named rom slot 1 inside it. Delete and it should be gone.
You could also just delete the whole safestrap folder if you're not using it anymore.

Flashing ROMS In TWRP - Do We Pick Slot?

Can someone please tell me, when we flash a custom rom and magisk, do we need to pick the Slot before we flash the ROM, or does TWRP automatically detect the partitions the system is on, and set the slots automatically?
I thought the way TWRP was designed, it detected the slot the system partitions were on and set the slot automatically that you flash a rom on?
The reason I am asking, because there are sometimes I can reboot into TWRP and I see it on slot a one time, then another time slot b. Sometimes it goes back and forth on it's own...
THANKS

I've noticed that I can flash the same rom over a few times and magisk in twrp, and many times magisk will show it's detected a different slot like below
A/B/partition detected, current slot: _a
A/B/partition detected, current slot: _b
Why is this happening, flashing the same rom, and then have magisk report a different slot, why isn't it staying the same slot each time?

You open too many threads with questions that you can find answers with simple search.
However, the a/b partition is the answer. System always flashes in the opposite slot, not in the active one you booted twrp. The slot with system partition is the slot twrp will boot into, the active slot.
So if you are on the _a slot in twrp, flash system and reboot twrp, the active slot is now _b. And vice versa.
This doesn't affect the system you flash, just how a/partition works.
If you want to always have system in the same slot, keep this in mind... But, you'll not really see any advantage in worrying about that...
Maybe only to cure an OCD? (jk)

@varben, I have been looking and reading, both on XDA and Google, I have not found any answers.
You did not read the post correct, I understand about the A/B Partition and what it is for.
The question has to more about a bug I am seeing in TWRP.
I am not touching or changing slots, but every time I boot into TWRP, it's as if they get changed, like TWRP switches to Slot B and installs the ROM on Slot B, then Magisk gets installed to Slot A.
Then I can reboot back into TWRP at some later point in time and it switches and installs the ROM to Slot A and Magisk to Slot B.
Understand now?

I did understand.
You should understand the answer too.
If you read and think slowly.
P.s. what you see in twrp is not a bug. It's what you flash and how you flash it. Next time you change rom, take note of what you say you know and the above (if you care about it) and you'll understand why that happens.
That's all I can contribute to this.
Peace out
Thanks...
Problem solved!
