Just wanted to know if it is possible to root my s4 without a computer?
My PC just bit the dust. I've looked around the forums and Internet and haven't found much.
Thanks in advance.
Time to find a friend. The only root method that works for the S4 needs to use odin so you will need a computer for that.

I'm want to use Android Commander to transfer some files back and forth to the PC for development. AC needs root access... I've used WugFresh's excellent toolkit to unlock and root the device. All worked fine; SuperSU is present, BusyBox installed. But AC still reports no root access, and the FAQ briefly mentions the difference that not all rooting gives root access to adb.
Can anyone explain in simple terms (I'm pretty new to android) how to get full root access to the device so that I can use Android Commander? Googling for instructions to root the device seems to pretty much always lead back to WugFresh's toolkit, which I've already done.

Try the link below .I remember having a similar problem on a Galaxy Note. I ain't certain but I think its to do with ADB insecure/secure. I could be completely wrong of course!!

Many thanks, yes, that seems to have worked. Strange that there isn't more info about this out there.
This says that it only persists until a reboot - I would still be interested in anyone knows a way of doing this permanently without installing a custom ROM

Hey, I'm a relatively new android user, and I'm dying to root my Samsung S5 SM G900F, but it's proving to be harder than I expected.
I tried the towelroot application but it says that my phone is not supported, even though others have seemed to do this easily. Any suggestions? I use a Mac Computer as well, which doesn't make it any easier....

You can use JOdin from a online webbrowser to root your phone with CF Auto Root (will trip KNOX flag !). Look here for how to http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=JOdin+for+Mac and here is the site where you can flash https://builds.casual-dev.com/jodin3/. It tried it with Windows 8.1 and it works for me. You have to install Java 8 JRE and JDK first.
still feeling dumb
Hey, thanks a lot for the help. I got pretty far but then keep falling at the last hurdle when it comes to obtaining a PIT code... I tried rebooting the device while running the program, but it won't root the phone until it gets the pit code from the phone itself...
any ideas?
thanks again for the advice. i feel so dumb.

Not to be rude, when you ask these kind of questions, you need to read more by searching.
1- confection to ? has nothing to do with root whatsoever. Troubleshooting that would be great start. By insuring drivers.
2-no root without pc. Odin is safest bet instead of trying other apps or methods outside xda. Not taking the warranty in mind here.
3-you can't use stock recovery for anything that is called useful. No you can't flash roms with it, nor flash supersu.
4-twrp is a great recovery that you need and should use. It's easy and does what it should.
You can't root without ?.

You could use an app in play store to flash twrp but again you need root. Root requires ? as far as I know.
What ? du you have? Only one USB port? Ask a friend or family to borrow their ?. Takes only 10 min.
Pc isn't a problem. My note can connect to pc. I see malfunction note when I connect to pc. Windows don't recognise this phone. I'm sure it isn't drivers problem because every other phone is OK with my pc.
Thanks for help.
You can try root your note 3 using the towel root on this link https://towelroot.com/ press the λ button can install it the you can use the app to gain root access it work for me when I was on kit kat it's completely safe try it .It might work on lollipop too I don't know
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app
geia!towel already tried, without success!now with kingroot my phone is rooted!
thanks everybody!
now i think i can use flashify to add custom recovery?
Evening all! Looking to root my aforementioned phone. Been searching on the internet and here at xda. Is the below link still applicable for my phone? I have never attempted to root or change anything from factory settings.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-to-update-to-i337oc3-5-0-1-keeproot-t3075814
If this still works - step 1 - Place the ROM onto the device. Can I do this via USB connection or do I need to put the files on a SD card and then insert into the phone?
I don't see Flashfire on the app store?
Is there a more newbie friendly guide or walkthrough available? Alot of these terms used in what I've found so far are beyond me.
Thanks in advance!!!!!
Yes the link is still applicable for you phone.
However, since you have never attempted to root before you need to do the # 4 in the notes section. That no. 4 tells you to flash the NB1 file via odin, then use towel root to root the phone. Then you need to install flashfire.
To place the file in the phone, you can either use usb connection or put the file in the card and put the card back in the phone.

Hi tulik..u better stick with stock rom without root and stop posting questions in wrong sections
Thx
I need to backup my telegram chats (also secrets)
Any idea ?
There is no way to do that by now. To root your phone you need to unlock your bootloader, which will cause a complete wipe of your data. So whatever is on your phone right now can't be saved through rooting. But the other poster is right, before you should try rooting your phone, you should learn a bit more about problem solving.. Otherwise you might end with an unusable phone. That it doesn't connect to your pc ( I assume a PC running windows) is pretty much a problem of missing drivers..
