So the past 2 weeks I've continously tried to to use my note 3 isis device at numerous 7-11s in Utah from brigham city to South salt lake city and is not working anymore isis used to work at all tap to pay stations I tried and just recently from what isis technical support said is that 7-11 no longer allows the tap to pay on there pay stations is what isis told me and to check with 7-11 for further information..... WTF
Am I just getting the run around or is anyone else have this issue? Or any ideas to what could be the issue?
I have used it at other tap to pay at Maverick and working just fine

Same Problem - Isis doesn't work at 7-11
I've had the same problem -- in fact 7-11 was the first place I tried to use my Isis "cards". I put my S3 on the transponder, it came up with "processing" on the terminal, then "declined". I have since used Isis successfully at several Chevron service stations, along with at Jamba Juice (in conjunction with the free juice offer).
Note also that on the Isis website, despite 7-11 stores having the payPass (wireless payment) terminals, they're not listed on the Isis website. See https://www.paywithisis.com/where.html for details.
same here in dallas you guys get a answer ?

A couple days ago I rooted my Samsung Tmobile sgh-t989 and today I unlocked it.
Today I called Mobi to see if I could use this phone with their $40 unlimited data, talk, and text plan and I was told no.
They said that the Mobi phones use cell towers and that Tmobile used satelites.
huh?
Is this true, or did they just rather not accept my rooted & unlocked phone? They do have a Galaxy S II for sale, but bought this a month ago. I don't understand why the Mobi Galaxy II would work but not the Tmobile Galaxy II with it being unlocked.
Please explain,
Thanks,
Rich
Uh what? T-Mobile and the other companies all have towers with fiber back haul usually. Someone is retarded.

Never heard of Mobi, from a Google search they seem to be a cell company in Hawaii. I'm guessing they are GSM so I don't see why an unlocked T-mobile phone wouldn't work.
Actual satellite phones are quite limited and plans are very expensive due to the limited amount of bandwidth available. Even in Hawaii cell phones would use regular towers and calls placed to areas outside the state are connected using underwater fiber optic cables.
Thanks for the replies!
Wow I didn't know it was a local company, I thought it was national. I went by after work today in person to see if perhaps the worker I talked to was someplace else and I'd just get 'fixed up' with that service (unlimited talk, text, and data for 40 bucks). What the lady told me the thing was their phones didn't use sim cards, and that is different. They even have a Galaxy S2 with no sim, wow.
Ok, well I'll just keep my eyes open. I'm kind of spoiled because my main job is about 400 feet from home and I shoot my dsl to work and that serves my cell's needs in both places too. Now I'd like to get some more data for the rest of the time.
I'm going to look at Boingo, it's cheap enough for what I want.
Thanks again for the replies,
Rich
If they don't use SIM cards then they are probably CDMA based like Verizon and Sprint, meaning you can't use your T-mobile phone.
I called T-Mobile to make sure that if I picked up a Nexus 4 from the Google Play store that they'd transfer my SIM to a microSIM for me so I could use it on their network, as it's sold unlocked. They told me that while this was technically possible, I may not get "4G" service because I "Didn't buy the phone from T-Mobile."
I told him it comes unlocked ready for AT&T or T-Mobile's networks, and he continued to insist that I probably wouldn't get HSPA+ access, but maybe I would, he didn't know. But if I didn't, there was nothing they could do.
I got the feeling it was just the T-Mobile guy trying to convince me that I should buy a Nexus 4 in their store for $500 instead on Play for $350, but I wanted to ask here - Have ANY of your Play-purchased Nexus 4's had any issue on T-Mobile? Or AT&T for that matter? I expect not, but I wanted to check with the experts.
Using mine now with no problem. They r just trying to make commission off u. Hack the nexus to get LTE

Your feeling is right. I got mine from the play store it does work on 4g so save your cash and buy it contract free

I'm using a Playstore N4 on T-Mobile with very good 4G speeds. If fact it gets better speeds than the T-Mobile H1 I tried for a week.

That unscrupulous sales/customer rep was trying to "up-sell" you and was blowing smoke up your arse by trying to mis-inform you.
1) Google play store nexus 4 and T-mobiles are exactly the same in terms of hardware specs.
2) HSPA/+, Edge, 4G (in deployed markets) all work on nexus 4s.
3) Nothing special needed to activated a nexus 4 Tmo's network.
4) Most of the users on XDA know more about phones/services than most sales reps.
I question some of there tactics.
I signed up for T-Mobile service over the phone (got the Sim cards for free from a T-Mobile store) and there was zero mention of an activation fee. So I get my bill and there is $70 charge for 2 activations.
I called and told them I was never told there was an activation fee. The lady was like "oh well I see here there is credit, let me go ahead and apply that credit to waive the fees."
If I never questioned it, they would have pocketed $70. Def some shady stuff with them, but I can't complain, my bill is half that of Verizon and the service works fine for me.

Can't wait for 4G LTE TMo to be released in New York, NY and then I'll do the LTE hack unless Google releases LTE back in the next OTA due to the Nexus 4 32GB LTE rumor.
Nothing new here and no, I was not able to walk into a Verizon store and activate my Nexus 7, but I consider this reasonably successful with some effort and possibly-wasted cash involved
So I bought the Nexus 7 LTE as soon as it was available and have been using it on T-mobile. It's been great, but I get zero signal in my work and I don't always want to be on wifi. I had a mission to get this working on Verizon and I don't have a Verizon account at all. I'm a new customer.
I read about the SIM swapping and the Nexus 7 working fine, so I figured I'd do just that. I wanted a decent-sized data plan and noticed they have a 5gb plan for $50 for mobile hotspots. So, off to Craigslist I went. I found a Verizon Jetpack 4510L for $20. I thought this was the deal of the century, until I realized that's pretty much what a two year old hotspot sells for everywhere
I bought it and went straight to Verizon, activated it on the 5gb plan and took it home. I also get 20% off for corporate discount, so that was nice to apply to the $50. I took the SIM out, cut it down to a micro-SIM for the Nexus 7 and put it in. It worked, as expected, after a simple restart.
Here's where I'm just blown away: I believe this is connecting to their new AWS spectrum. I read a few articles this week about how Verizon had turned on their AWS 1700/2100 spectrum on Band 4. Of course, the Nexus 7 supports this out of the box! First speed test I did is attached below, as well as the next two. WOW! With the hotspot, I was getting ~10mbps just while I was verifying it worked on the Jetpack, but when I put the SIM into the Nexus 7 the results were astounding. I only get two bars of service at my house as well (which is in San Jose, CA for what it's worth).
Anyway, this tactic can of course be used if you already have a Share Everything plan with Verizon as well, but I believe they charge $20 to add a Jetpack rather than just the normal $10 for a tablet. I know, it sucks, and hopefully they fix this issue in their system...but that's neither here nor there. I'm not a proponent of Verizon in any way, but I'm pleased with the price of the 5gb plan for what I'm getting.
Cheers!

IMPRESSIVE! I did basically the same thing, Jetpack to N7, and also in SJ but I'm only getting at best 13 Mbps each direction. I am about a mile south of downtown SJ. I will try other areas when I am out and about.
Question: Was your device on the new build KVT49L for VZW improvements or are you at build K0T49H? I'm afraid to upgrade to the new one - going to wait a week or so if I can hold out as I don't want to lose the tether (nobody is reported it was taken but I am paranoid with VZW!)

I've had a Nexus 7 LTE (2013) since it came out on Google Play store. It worked perfectly as an LTE device with the SIM out of one of my Verizon phones with unlimited LTE data.
I installed the update as soon as it was offered on my N7 last week. Ever since then, network connectivity while on LTE has been very frustrating. I'll have 3-4 bars LTE showing on the status bar, but Chrome, Waze, etc., all lose network connectivity. Some apps, like Amazon, work fine, so maybe some kind of DNS or google server issue?
Anyways, it can't be coincidence, this behavior did not begin until allowing the patch. Proceed with caution, IMHO.
You are using LTE Advanced service. Not many places have the service. I know NYC metro area has it. You can get access to the bands on the Verizon S4 through root and service mode. Guys in NYC are getting 90+ on the download. Its supposed to be on Note 3 as well. Im sure a future update to the S4 and higher will get access to these bands. But Verizon is probably still waiting for more deployment.

Would this work on the WiFi n7 2013? If got an old droid x that could be a sim donor already.
Can anyone shed some light on this? When I'm on the subway in Boston, I'm admittedly in awe of those that can use there phones while deep under the streets of Boston. The tunnels here are wired for the GSM carriers (and Verizon too think). The day I got my phone I was riding home enjoying going through all the features and settings of my brand new phone.Under the roaming section in settings, I noticed an option for GSM Data Roaming. Out of curiosity, I checked it off and within seconds, I had a 3G signal! Trust me when I say, for where I was in the tunnel, that NEVER happens. I tested it by sending texts and even making a call and both seemed to work.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Is this something new that maybe I've just never noticed in a Sprint phone before? How much is Sprint going to soak me for if I used it on a regular basis?

Weird, have you asked sprint to unlock the phone? I've been trying to use my LS980 on GSM and have not had any luck until now. Sprint won't help either which sucks...
I haven't been able to confirm what and when roaming charges would apply. I was talking with a tech in a corporate store and he said there are no charges for roaming. Not sure I believe that though.

Yeah I'm not sure I believe there isn't a cost on roaming. Hopefully when a sprintless unlock comes out I can just use a local SIM card internationally.
I'd love to know if this will work. I may have a chance to tell next week when I'm in an area with not much Sprint coverage.....

Please keep us informed. I live in North Texas, an area known for temperamental Sprint service. I get the roaming messages all the time. Even call Sprint to make sure its not a problem. I don't question the roaming with them, I just show concern as a customer that they won't charge me (Shoot Verizon sure did). But the reps get all hush hush when I ask about what service level is truly available in my area. Often, they refer me to a coverage map. If I wanted that I'd just Google it.

Been with sprint for years and never paid for roaming once. Look at your plan and see if roaming is included. It means domestic roaming. I believe if you talk on roaming for an exorbitance amount of hours or use a large about of data while roaming. I think if you google the amount for roaming that is excessive you'll find the answer. So use the roaming if it's available but don't watch an online movie well roaming.
Roaming is not the issue. The phone doesn't want to connect to it even when forced.

So I got my new N7 LTE just before vacation. And like most which carrier to take. I saw a ad for T-Mobile international data plans. So here is a break down. Simple choice mobile Internet plan from. T-Mobile.
You get US data service based on how much data you want per month and price. The benefit you get is, T-Mobile provides free 2G service to a hundred countries. So I have been using it for the past week in st martin. And it has been working pretty well. While we know its not going to break any speed records, the internet still works. Skype also does work, I used it many times over the week, while the picture is not the greatest, it works. Guy Adams SMS mod also works, I have been SMS and MMS all week. The MMS and SMS is free on T-Mobile service as part of the plan. GPS is accurate and maps works as well. I didn't have voice directions but the dot moved and got me from place to place. You can buy 500mb 3g speed (last for 7 days) as well, which I did from here to try. It was faster and skype video improved as well.
I did have to activate roaming to work on the digicel network here. I am nervous about that, but I was told by a rep before buying that it will work. I hope im not going to see price shock in a month. Right now, my T-Mobile bill shows nothing out of the ordinary.
So if you are on a budget and travel, the T-Mobile service works well so far. Besides, if not we can buy a local gsm Sim.
