I'm having an issue with Kangakat 4.4.2 v6.0 version on my i337 GS4.
My signal meter on LTE randomly drops to 1 bar, and even sometime it will drop to no bars which show a 0 dBm. Then go back up to 3 or 4 bars.
This happens at my house, where using a Jellybean 4.3 GE rom don't do this. Matter of fact today I had my wife's iPhone 5 sitting right next to mine, and my phone was dropping to 1 bar at -89 dBm, then to 0, all the while my wife's iPhone had full bars of LTE.
I've tried the MF3, MJ9 and MK2 basebands and all do the same thing, although MF3 seems to do it a little less. I don't have this issue using a stock 4.3 ROM I've been using for awhile before trying out 4.4.2.
Anyone have any clues and came across this?

A VZW macro-antenna was recently placed on the building across the street from where I work, and for the first week after I returned from Christmas vacation, I'd have a solid 3-4 bars all day long. Since doing more extensive ROM/kernel modifications to my phone, I notice that my reception will jump around a lot... 4 bars, 1 bar, 3 bars, 2 bars, 4 bars, 1 bar, etc.
Using a signal widget confirms that it does actually vary quite a bit... such as suddenly dropping from -86dmb to -106dbm, then bouncing back to -86 without the phone having been moved.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this or have any idea what might be causing it and what I could try to alleviate the issue? I suppose I could go back to the adrynalyn's 12/12 test kernel (the one that came with DJ05), but as I'm currently using both Voodoo lagfix and sound, I'd really rather not have to do all that.
Currently using Superclean 0.9, JT's 1/23 voodoo5 + lagfix + sound. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
I dont have exact DB measurements but I can tell you that just sitting at my desk at work my 3G connection speed varies from 1mbit to 10kbit in about 4 seconds sometimes. The network just dies. It slowly builds back up to 1mbit and then dies again. Pandora streaming is annoying.
edit: after 4th try of *228 option 2 i now am getting better signal and 1.8 down and .6 up....maybe verizon was having issues in my area and now they have it fixed...we shall see

I have had problems using that kernel (Superclean 0.9, JT's 1/23 voodoo5 + lagfix + sound.), with my cell signal dropping out entirely at random times.
Once I went back to the previous kernel I was using, everything was fine again.
How long have you been using your current kernel?
Im using adrynalyns latest i think ...with voodoo and voodoo sound fix...for about a week now....i've tried just about every kernel i could find but still had the same problem. *228 has done the trick so far......my signal is low but is constant....its no longer dropping to 2g at least.

I thought the 3g to 1x problems got fixed with DL09 (stock rom) but it still appears to be a problem when I get in a low coverage area. My friends HTC Eris with the same low coverage still maintains the 3g while my Fascinate starts to switch to 1x and won’t grab 3g until a reboot or at least 3 bars of coverage are present. I tried *228 several times with no luck. Any ideas?
Does anyone have a problem with their Nexus 4 signal strength?
I have Bell Canada, which is supposedly has the best coverage in Canada, I live in the suburbs of a relatively large city and I often see no bars at all. I'm sitting on my couch right now and the signal strength is ranging from -97 dBm to -110 dBm.
Do 2.4 Ghz band devices interfere at all? I have bunch of portable phones and 2 routers, so maybe this is related?
Nexus 4 on T-Mobile
I am in Portland OR in an area of good signal according to T-MO but my nexus rarely shows any signal bars inside my house. This is my 3rd N-4. T-Mo says they have great signal in my area.... so what gives with this signal thing?
My reception has been wonky ever since the 4.2.2 and baseband update.

I get 1-2 bars in my house usually between 95-105 db, outside I get low 80's and full or near full at all times. Even though my bars inside top out at 2 I have still managed to pull up to 13 Mbps but thats on a sunny day. Didn't see any results above 9 Mbps today. I live on the outskirts of a not so major city so I can't really complain. One minute I'm pulling 10 Mbps and the other I'm only getting like 200 Kbps though, but it's all good enough for what I need it for and I can't complain since its only $30/month. I just transferred from Virgin Mobile after their "upgrade" resulted in me and many other of their customers losing data for the last 3 weeks and to this date its still not fixed! Their "3G" speeds were atrocious, I've pulled higher speeds off of T-Mobiles 2G network.
I hear a lot of us who are on 4.2.2 and baseband .48 have had issues so I'm thinking its either a major software issue with the radio firmware that hasn't been addressed yet in any revision or it could be a major hardware issue as well as I flashed .27, .33, and .48 and noticed no differences. I had to set my phone to WCDMA Only to get it to maintain a good connection, otherwise HSPA/HSPA+ would just cut out after 2 minutes of use and revert to 2G or have no data at all for 5-10 minutes. After switching to WCDMA Only this problem went away completely and I haven't lost a signal since. For whatever reason it picks up more adjacent towers as well on this setting.
I have that kind of problem also though I notice it only when the signal is weak.
It goes from -99dbm to -111dbm with no reason. My other phone (Defy) keeps a good -97 at the same spot without any fluctuation.
I will try to switch to wcdma only.
Anyone here had any decrease in signal/reception strength when switching to the S4 GPe and running on AT&T?
I used to have 4/5 LTE bars in my home constantly on my iPhone 5 but now I only get 3 bars top (usually only get 1 or 2 bars indoors). I have switched to the correct LTE plan and got the appropriate SIM card, plus I have factory reset my phone but nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated. I just hope that I don't have to return the phone. Thanks
How's the call quality? Signal strength bars do not reflect actual true signal strength. My older Motorola shows almost full strength signal while the GS4 only shows one, two, and rarely 3 dots but the calls are clear on the GS4. I am not saying this is alright; just merely asking about call quality.
Pretty good actually. No problems whatsoever with call quality or dropped calls

After a day or so the phone now only shows the H instead of LTE. But signal "strength" is better having H only. Could it be that my LTE signal isn't strong as I thought it was? I will call AT&T to see if my account is provisioned correctly (even though they assured me it was) after the SIM change.

Is ti common for the signal to be lower on a rom vs stock rom..
Im using cloudypro and my signal is very low and sometimes actually alot jumps from lte to H to 3g
When i was on stock i had a constant 5 bars and so does my wife s4
Its always the case for me. I think its just cosmetic though, I haven't noticed a drop in signal while talking
Hi, I own a i9505 and I am trying to find the best ROM for best signal.
With stock kitkat, I was getting about 1 or 2 bars in my house, same for lollipop (modem updated).
However, with AOSP or CM12/12.1, I get much more, about 4 or 5. But with stock, I get 30mb speed with 4g. (with 2 bars).
But with AOSP/CM, I get 15mb roughly even with 5 bars.
Any help as this is an annoying issue?
Thanks.
