Downgrade possible? - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I've searched around a bit but am a little confused is it possible to downgrade from 98.18.94? I'm new to this phone but know my way around Android and Linux fairly well and can handle adb and fastboot commands. My goal is to Root and install twrp recovery followed by a new Rom. I'm not opposed to reading if I could just get pointed in the right direction. Thanks in advance

Call vzw / other options/ cancel contract / ask that they "FRU" you a pre May build phone.

Thanks for the fast response. I take it I'm pretty much sol then... I got the phone from a friend who got their upgrade. I'm just using it on wifi. Version isn't going to want to help me

Is there any work being done to find a new exploit?

Root

I'm buying a nexus 7 today? Is there a root process for it, and if so, could someone post a link? Also this forum seems to be a bit different so which section would it be posted in? I'm used to the phone forums and its normally posted in original development. Sorry did being a noob to this device. Any help is appreciated.

I see so many types of root available. Very confusing. I'm buying one from office depot.

This thread will get you what you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816048
fastboot oem unlock, fastboot flash a custom recovery, flash either the su binaries or a custom rom using your new recovery, reboot and profit. the method is the same for all nexus devices.
I don't mean to seem ridiculous but isn't there a much simpler method. I'd prefer the easy way out this time of possible. I've done enough with an HTC phone.
I thought they're was a toolkit that made it simple? But I can't find it now.
Oh, and thanks for the responses

The method outlined is safe, simple and will work on any Nexus device as mentioned. Why not try?

I got my son a new laptop. He doesn't want me messing with it. So if I had some small files and deleted them rather than Sdk he'd be happier. Just got to respect his wishes. At least for now..... Will the tool kit work on the new n7 I just purchased and will someone post a url? I can't find it for window 7 64 bit .
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
The toolkit will work if you're still on 4.1.2. Once it updated to 4.2.1 I had to download sdk etc etc

This one claims the latest version works with 4.2.1 but I haven't tried it. I came out after I rooted my n7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809195

this ^^^^^^ it really cant get much simpler to root a phone, really
if youre worried about the size of the sdk find adb.exe and fastboot.exe and the drivers you need, a quick search will get you all of the above

I've added links for drivers and platform tools (contains adb and fastboot) in my signature. That should make things even easier!

Does anybody know? I got my n4 yesterday only unlocked bootloader yet cause i can't root 4.2.2, any advices?
You can root it already. It's a nexus, no need to wait

I sincerely hope that this does not come off as condescending, but even as a complete noob, it isn't that difficult to read up on how to use adb and/or fastboot, and learn how the process works. I'm absolutely a noob. I've never taken a computing class in my life, and my knowledge of programming languages comes from xkcd. But after reading a few of the FAQ/101 threads, and maybe watching a youtube video or two, I've learned so much from the community. And if knowledge for knowledge's own gain isn't good enough, you'll also be much better at troubleshooting and less reliant on others to develop things for you.
So I apologize if this sounds like flaming, but I mean it more as encouragement.

Bootloader is locked. Use Loki from the Original Development section to install a custom recovery.
Also use the search funcution on these forums, please. This is a very common question.
Search and read. Everything you've asked has already been answered.

DONT DO ANYTHING right now. READ, READ, READ, READ, READ. Next week when you have READ every post in development and original development about bootloader, loki, recovery, and kernels then and only then you should proceed. After you READ feel free to ask questions on things you don't understand.
It is easy to tell when some one has read and does not understand vs when some one is to lazy to even read.

Thank you for your words of wisdom. It's always great to get such positive feed back. I have rooted and rom'ed a whole bunch of phones and unlocked boot loaders etc. I'm just a little nervous to do it to my brand new phone and I was just looking for a little guidance. Im glad that you took the time to rip me apart for making one post instead of pushing me in the right direction. It take more time to write a negative response than to just link me I guess. I will READ, READ, READ, and READ before I ever post again.

He is right though. Just because you have done it before on other devices does NLRB mean you know what your doing know this device. Each Android device you get will even some differently when it come to boot loaders, root and flashing roms. He is just trying to help save you from getting bricked and then being stuck with no warranty.

Whats the easiest way to root a i337 with mk2 4.3?

I have a at&t i337 s4 with android 4.3 mk2 & I need to root it so I can get my safestrap going for my custom rom of choice..I lost root & last time I was running 4.2.2 & used kingo root..I tried that today but it was only good up to 4.2.2 not 4.3 from what I gathered..so whats the quickest easiest way for me to root now? I've done some research but found alot of confusing & conflicting results so thought I'd just ask here on xda where I've never been done wrong..thanks

We are trying to push you to do for yourself and learn wile doing so,most of us have been in your position a time or two and have had our uncomprehending questions but pulled through the negative to achieve the goals we want.Saferoot is the option you have with no risks to your phone or computer. Check my profile and see my stupid questions I've had in the past if it can make you feel better.ADB is not that bad if set up correctly.everything you search will bring you back to XDA so I will say good luck and you can do it
