[Q] regarding that aosp call drain ? - Galaxy S III General

does it come into play only after the ACTUAL conversation between the two parties has started/ended or does it also affect even the MISSED calls ?

Everything related to phone calls. Its enough to just ring someone, no need to actually talk. So, missed calls also count into that

^ and is it limited to only cm10.2/cm11 roms or does it also include cm10.1/4.2 as well ?

The bug reaches back to cm9. There is no way to avoid it on aosp roms. All of them, aokp, slim, omni, pa, cm contain this bug
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Man that's serious, i seriously hope our devs will find a solution for it
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

damn it then..no pure android for me i guess then..sh!twiz here i come !

Dhiru1602 suspects the audio hal to be the source of the drain. He will try to make the stock audio libs work on cm when he finds some time to do it. Maybe this will be a temporary fix. He wants to compare the behaviour of the stock libs with the current audio hal in cm. Maybe this way its possible to find the bug

Multiscreen GT2 7.0 ?

I've seen Galaxy Note 10.1, the multi screen was good. Is that possible for GT 2 7.0?

If that matter related to hardware limitation maybe you're right. It's not possible.
Actually, our device already run multitask, but can't show that side by side display.
Except when using the mini apps on the lower nav bar.
This will be great if some devs out there take this challenge and bring something new for the device.
Make this happen.

well our tab might be able to pull it off....i can run a video in dice player and play a light game simultaneously, so i guess its possible...

You wouldn't want such a lousy implemented proprietary feature that only works with proprietary Samsung apps.
There is a company who is working on this http://www.onskreen.com/cornerstone/ and they are open source and releasing source code for developers to work on. I am not so good in compiling from source, any dev out that to take the challenge?

[idea] rom just for gaming nothing else, read for more info

I have just got a new phone to replace my xplay, now that i wont be using the play as a phone would it be possible to make a rom with all phone features removed?
Sent from my GT-P1010 using xda app-developers app
I got this idea few days ago. Planned to make it based on stock but too bad my exam is coming soon! Will do it after exam I guess.
A gaming kernel would be nice too, removing recording an some other things
- f3w1n -
You can flash NXT Light Edition and remove whatever you don't want to keep in /system .
May be a great deal for gaming: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649368
Oh, and you can begin flashing the .58 enhanced rom because it will give you 420MB of internal memory: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591398
With Lupus kernel and some CPU tuning (overclock, undervolt, CPU governor...) the games will run wonderfully
Guys, listen!
I'm actually working on it, will be based on stock ROM and GB.

I've successfully removed everything to do with phone/messaging on my Play, you just have to disable some on-boot services to stop the force closes (some services to do with Google Talk, there's 3 of em). I use Autostarts to do that
EDIT: If you group by application, go to Google Services Framework. The fourth "After Startup" service should be disabled. As well as both "Application Installed" services. Those are the only ones that need disabling to stop force closes (except you can't go into "about phone" anymore after removing the phone app)
Ok gonna give it a try

I will make 2 versions of the ROM:
Gamer
Gamer-Only
Gamer only will have apps like Dialer, SMS deleted. Gamer will have it but instead of original apps, i will replace them to some lightweight ones.
The rom will be named:
LeetGamer

When i get AROMA working i'll notify you guys and if someone will be interested i'll send ya beta

I love this idea. Really the only annoying thing about the stock Verizon rom is that the stupid activation screen pops up once in awhile when turning Airplane mode off, which I leave on most of the time to save battery.
If that activation screen could be stopped you could easily delete, or I would probably ignore, the phone things from system/apps
Great idea, but if you want to create gaming rom, please make it look like psp, this will be real psp phone

[Q] IR Blaster on AOSP ROM

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting the IR blaster to work on a AOSP ROM'S. Has anyone tested Peel Smart Remote on one, or possibly managed to get a WatchOn apk and get that working on AOSP? Having the IR blaster is the only thing keeping me on TouchWiz at the moment since my TV remote's power button is fried, but I would really like to get TouchWiz off.
Download smart remote from the play store. It works very well.

The $10 one that specifies gs4? And that is confirmed to work on AOSP ROMS?
I don't think it will work. Asop roms delete pretty much ALL added features to the phone. Someone would have to get the apps from TW and see if they work on it. I'm not sure which system app you would need. If I knew which system apps I needed I would test it for you. I have the smart remote for g s4 app

Im gonna try some roms out today. I'll let u know what I find with the ir stuff. I had the s3 and the ir is the main reason I upgraded. That and the battery.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
@kyhassen: Yeah, that's just about what I thought. I'm sure if someone dug through TW enough that whatever code is needed for it to work would be found. Could even be something as simple as a call method to find the hardware that gets passed along to whatever app the user is using, which could then be ported into an AOSP to keep that working..
@Mahapederdon: Thanks, please do keep me in the loop if you find something

Yeah keep us up to date on what you find!
The IR code is proprietary. Meaning it is unlikely the needed code will be released any time soon. Its possible someone may reverse engineer the drivers one day, or the code will "open" so all hope is not lost.
Try to back up the apk from stock through Titanium backup and restore it on your favorite aosp rom and see if it works.

Has anyone tried that?
I just did on slim bean it installs and opens but it won't work as a remote I think aosp doesn't have the s4's or drivers.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda premium
Ok, so then it looks like someone needs to either reverse engineer the drivers, or talk Samsung into releasing them.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
And I just asked Samsung about that, and they basically said no. Anyone know anyone who may be able to reverse engineer it?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
So I'm guessing that smart remote won't work.
GS4 on Slim bean and CarbonROM
Hardware support is missing at the kernel level, .apks won't fix it.
It seems to be fully functional on the Google Experience S4 and also CyanogenMod nightlies according to users and reviewers.

Yea, I can confirm it works on the Google Experience S4 rom running on my SPH-L720, tried it out just recently using the WatchON app.
Same here then I tried it on CM 10.1 latest nightly and it didn't work on that but it worked on the Google edition rom.

nobody cares about the call ended issue on aosp roms???

I see a lot of people using this typeof ROMs and they don't seem to care about this issue...this is the only thing keeping me away of this ROMs.....is this ever going to get fixed or can anyone try to report it the right way???
I care about it bc I make a lot of calls and use the actual phone feature the most out of everything on my phone. this is a known issue with the s4 which I've never had on any other phone. some people report never having the issue. regardless I'm gonna leave it to the pros

No phone
I installed the Avatar ROM. All was going well until I needed to use my phone. Yeaaaa. NO. I can make the call...and even receive calls. But no audio whatsoever. Whats up with this? Im not sure if Avatar is an AOSP ROM but...it sukks. I had to flash back to PacMan. I was hella diggin Avatar too. I had installed the Optimus Prime theme and set up my entire phone. Only to have to delete it all. FAIL
Did anyone find a fix

There's no simple way to record from the phone line on apq8064. Needless to say, the way exists, and daresay I invented it))). CallRecorder (linked above) is the +only+ app so far where it has been implemented (apart from my custom CAF rom for nexus).
The hint how to do that (devs only) is in my "slow talk" post, there's a link to the sources tuneable to that matter. Yes, this is the _only_ way if you ask me, for some technical reasons.
Then the app should free ...

Shouldn't. Just because Sasha really's working hard, and provides great support for each and every device.
The call recording itself, it's free, and was done (by me) on his request.
As the matter of fact, I earned _no_ money for that, and you're _absolutely free_ writing an app yourself if you like)))

You can send a Debug Report (from Troubleshooting screen), we'll be happy to assist. The app is developed on a Nexus 4 (among other devices) so it should resolve quickly.
