I was on Google+ and I checked out a youtube video, it was about a 3d printed engine. After watching the video I shut the screen off and I went to bed. When I woke up in the morning my tablet was displaying the Google logo and then restarting. What did I do?? The tablet was fully charged and wasn't plugged into anything. I could understand if I was tinkering with it but I hadn't done a thing. Now I don't know what the heck to do. I've tried Wug but I can't seem to get the ADB drivers to be recognized on my laptop, Windows 7 64bit. I'm at a loss as to what I should do next. Any help would be appreciated.
It was running 4.4.2 (KOT49H) for about a week.
**I should clarify the drivers thing. Windows says everything is installed and running correctly (Android Composite ADB Interface) but Wug is saying that ADB cannot be found.
**and for whatever reason the word Composite is throwing me off with the driver thing because nowhere in Wug's tutorial is that label for the driver but my laptop only seems to find that driver.
Leave it for 1 day to charge and then try to turn it on without unplugging till boot finish...let us know what happened

Go into recovery mode and wipe cache and reboot and see if that fixes it.

I have it charging now. It's been plugged in since 7:30 this morning. So are we talking 8 hours, 24 hours?

I don't have the ability to go into recovery mode. All that happens is the Google logo comes up and then reboots. I can get into the fastboot screen but nothing else. I can power it off and it'll charge but reboots before it can go into recovery.

are you sure you have the correct drivers installed? I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and it works just fine.
You might want to go into device manager and remove the device completely from Windows 7 and then try reinstalling the device drivers.
Worse comes to worse, get the Nexus 7 toolkit from Skipsoft.net. It contains all the correct drivers. That's what I use.
Try that. If you can get into fastboot mode, then you will be able to reflash everything back as long as you had USB debugging enabled. You can choose to keep data or do a complete wipe of everything with the N7 toolkit.
I never used wug as I've always had great results with the N7 toolkit.

I ran into a similar situation go to wig fresh put your device into fastboot. Then click softbrick reboot it will wipe your device but it will fix it make sure you select the same software you want to install. K

After deleting all the drivers I knew were Android I also deleted all the generic usb drivers as well, which I didn't think to do earlier, and then wug could see the correct ADB drivers.
I tried Skipsoft last night and it is far more feature rich but I had the same results. Still bootlooping. On the plus side I was able to re-lock the bootloader, which I couldn't do in wug from the fastboot screen, so I can have it covered under warranty if nothing else.

wugfresh is what I was originally using and no dice. I have a second tablet I used to determine what build I wanted to use. because both tablets where updated and everything at the same time.

Alright, I am having some trouble with the Nexus and hopefully someone can help me with this. Then Nexus was unlocked and rooted but I was still rocking the stock rom on there. The tablet used to be recognized by the computer and everything was fine. I used a car charger today to charge the tablet, came home, and the tablet would no longer show MTP when connected to the computer but rather would only charge.
I thought it was an issue with the rom so I downloaded a new rom, made a backup and went to flash it. Something happened when I was flashing the rom which forced the tablet to reboot and all it would get to is the Google screen. It won't go past that. I can get into the bootloader but can't boot into recovery or the system. Its not being recognized in fastboot mode either so I have no way to flash a recovery onto it...
Any suggestions?
have you tried force rebooting it a few times to try to get it ti boot up?

Multiple times. I have also used several different USB cables and ports on the computer. Still nothing

I've tried three usb cables on three computers (with W7, W8, Ubuntu and OS X). Makes no difference.
It does however indicate charging then it's off.

I'm trying to flash Paranoid ROM update in TWRP, somehow the recovery show error when flashing so i decided to reboot system.

If you are not familiar with adb, try the Nexus 7 Toolkit from Skipsoft.net to flash the OEM ROM.

I had similar issue
When I first unlocked and rooted my N7 .... and then tried to flash AOKP, I had a very similar issue as it would not boot into OS or CWM! SO i left it for some time and then crossed my fingers and tried to boot into bootloader 1 day later and then CWM ..... and it worked!
I think this is quite good advice for u to try out!

I can get into fastboot but once I connect the usb, it freeze and the toolkit I used (GNEX TOOLKIT) couldn't get my device :crying:
And sorry to ask, what is adb connection?
I only know fastboot, now my N7 only can boot in fastboot without usb plug in :silly:
But I will try to use the toolkit you recommend me, hope it works :fingers-crossed:

Google Fasfboot and ADB. Between the two of them, you can flash recovery, push & flash ROMs, etc. The Nexus 7 Toolkit makes Fasfboot & ADB commands pushbutton choices.

The problem is I can't unbrick and restore my nexus to stock rom.
I can't boot the device and I'm only able to boot to bootloader. However, my computer doesn't recognize the nexus. It keeps saying Window cannot recognize it whenever I plug my tablet to the computer in bootloader. I tried uninstall and reinstall driver several times, but none of them seems to work . ----> That means I can't even use adb to restore the phone simply because my tablet is not recognized in window.
Is there anyway to fix this problem? I really need your helps as soon as possible.

Get to bootloader. Then use Wugs toolkit, open advanced options. On the very left is something like "temp boot to recovery". Once that boots it to recovery, ADB should work. It did for me. I was in some trouble last night and got out by this. If you know how to use adb/fastboot commands, you should be good. And I uninstalled my drivers and when I plugged it in the device automagically reloaded the drivers. But you have to do it a few times. Had to do it in bootloader, recovery, and another point. Anytime it asks to load drivers/etc do it.
I can't boot to recovery through Wug Tool Kit. It keeps saying Fastboot device was not found >"<
By the way, whenever I connnected my device to computer, the bootloader freezes :|
What were you doing before you go into this situation?
I was on Glazed Jelly Bean rom and wanted to go back to stock rom. I used nexus 7 toolkit to do all the work for me. However, there was something wrong like the toolkit didnt extract the stock img right or something like that, my tablet got bootloop, and what happened next was what i had been telling you guys.
Best bet is if somehow you could get into recovery or get adb working. Might want to uninstall drivers and install again and reboot computer. I would suggest using this thread and flash things manually back to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796 but you would need adb working.
When you power off device and use volume and power can you get it to go into boot loader then plugged into computer try to get to recovery or adb.
Consider deleting the drivers from Windows after uninstalling them otherwise Windows may try to be "clever" and reinstall the bad driver when you plug the device in. The Nexus 7 drivers from Asus can be downloaded here and Google's USB drivers are here

try connecting to the usb port at the back of your computer
Paranoid flashed with the bricked kernel did this to me once right after the move to 4.1.2. Even with a full wipe and all the usual safety precautions it just stuck on bootloop forever and wouldn't let me in. I chalked it up as that's what I get for being the guy that's never satisfied with stock. I was unable to get my nexus7 fixed. I sent you a suggestion on pm though.

I tried install the nexus 7's driver on another computer and it recognized my device in bootloader mode, and restore everything back to stock now. Thank you so much!!!!
Mine did that to the first time I tried. After I got it to work, the permissions were all messed up and I could not get it to download anything off the web and I was getting a playstore error 90% of the time as well. I finally just wiped everything on my tablet, installed the stock rom via N7 toolkit, then reflashed smooth rom, and all is working now. It may have been a bug with the older version of N7 toolkit, as I updated it before I reran everything.

I received my nexus 7 today (its lovely!) and then proceeded to attempt to root it so I can change the dpi etc.
I unlocked the bootloader using the Nexus 7 toolkit and that worked fine.
I then went to do the one click to root/flash etc and then got stuck on downloading boot.img.
After leaving it for a few hours I gave up and the nexus booted straight back into the os.
My next attempt was to root using the su binarys via fastboot. This again failed on sending the file. I also noticed that my device is locked at fastboot mode when the usb cable is plugged in, e.g the up/down doesn't work unless I unplug the cable. I have tried different cables and a different PC!
My next step was then to use the toolkit to reset back to factory incase I had screwed something up, so this deleted the bootloader etc as it should and then froze on sending the .img across.
I now have a un responsive fastboot when usb is plugged in and no recovery or bootable tablet, any hints/solutions?

That's the problem with toolkits though. People don't know what they're doing and when something goes wrong you don't know how to fix it!! I understand where toolkits come from, but they are only useful if you know what happens in the background when you click on a button.

Doing so i install drivers for them and often have the exact same issue as you are having..
Do a search for a program called usbdview.. Install to your pc..
With the nexus unplugged run the program..Delete everything in the list that you do NOT HAVE plugged into your computer..Especially anything that says ADB.. OR ANDROID..
Plug in the nexus 7 refresh the list.. and delete the entries created for it..
Unplug the nexus .. reboot the pc.. Then download or use the tool kit to install the latest Adb drivers for nexus 7 ..
reboot the pc.. then plug in the nexus ..
After doing the above see if you can now use fastboot/ adb...
The above will insure its not a driver issue.Often computers get usb devices confused and causes them to hang ..

Put me on the right track, my PC was basically assuming that it was my S3, in the end I removed everything with samsung in it from the registry, uninstalled all the drivers then tried again, correctly showing as a nexus and not a samsung
I have a Google Nexus 4, bought direct from Google, I rooted it and it was working well for a while. Then the battery started draining super fast. A friend recommended resetting, so I did and it seemed to fix it for a while. Then the battery issue came up again, so I reset again, expecting the same outcome....however, I wiped the phone completely. It turns on and displays Google, and that's it.. My computer does not recognize the phone when I plug it in, and I cannot get the USB Debugging to even be an option. Every resolution I have found for this situation needs me to enable the USB Debugging mode. Is there any other way to get all the OS files back on this phone or is it bricked?
When I plug it into the PC it tells me to look up drivers, and this is how it sees my phone: Unidentified Device USB\VID_0CF3&PID_3000&REV_0200.
It isn't recognized as a phone at all. It tells me to download Atheros Drivers.
I have searched for days trying to find the solution to this. Any help would be so very appreciated by this noob
Did you try to manually delete drivers from the device manager? Ticking the option that permanently delete the driver from PC.
And after doing this...trying Windows Update for driver installation?
PS: also try to manually flash with Fastboot all the latest Factory Image from Google....

Yes, I've done that, there are currently no drivers on my PC. When the phone is plugged into the PC, it tells me to find drivers because it is an unrecognized device.

Hold volume up/down and power until it reboots into boot loader mode. Download the factory images from the Google website (search nexus stock images on Google) and plug your phone into the computer and use fastboot to flash the OS back.
Rember, as long as you can get the phone to turn on you can fix whatever other issue your having providing its software related.
To fastboot flash,
You need the android SDK, use Google to figure out how to install it but its not hard.
Run the flash-all bat found in the archive file you downloaded, or manullay flash each partition like this.

I have tried all those ideas and all have failed. I can never get the computer to see my device. All it says is unknown device. When I click update drivers and direct it to the sdk driver I download it still gives me no connection through fastboot or adb. I have tried selecting various general Android drivers through the update drivers screen, Found some from Google Inc. that specify Nexus 4 bootloader interface and adb interface. Nothing is working. I think I need to have a working Nexus 4 to install to correct drivers first and then I might be able to piggy back off those and use my phone to flash through fastboot or push adb. I have worked with both command lines with reasonable success before rooting samsung tablets and phones and htc's. I am familiar with the process and have read numerous ideas none of which seem to work in this case. Made it all the way to Google search page 12. Anyone know a way to force install the Nexus 4 drivers without having a working phone present? I am thinking I just need to go buy a new one and return it after I plug it in to install drivers. Don't want to have to pay the re-stock fee though. Any other ideas are very welcome.
And I have tried to use the toolkit as well and it does nothing either. I have the stock rom ready to go just need a way to get it onto the phone.
I had a rooted 4.3 stock image on my N10. Got the notification about the downloaded update for 4.4
It did the update through TWRP (which was weird to me) and finished, restarts and gets stuck on the boot loading screen.
So I went into recovery, and cleared cache, no luck, then complete factory reset, no luck, then I added "System" to that wipe, not knowing what it was an now there is no OS installed.
I installed the Nexus 10 Toolkit (Unified Toolkit) and install the USB drivers, but my computer is not seeing my device..

As long as you can get to the bootloader, you can reflash a stock image. Easiest way is with wugfresh nexus root toolkit. It will walk you through the driver installation and the various image downloads.
That did not work.
The computer is not seeing my device. Drivers are installed, not seeing it, it's in the proper Boot mode.
I followed the mode that said I didn't need debugging enabled, still nothing.

I would recommend uninstalling the USB drivers you installed with the toolkit and manually installing the Google USB drivers attached to this post. After you have installed the USB drivers I would recommend manually booting into your devices bootloader by simultaneously holding down the power button + volume up button + volume down button. Once you are in bootloader mode I would recommend download this Android 4.4 KitKat Factory Image and flashing it to your device in order to restore things to a working order. Let me know if you still have questions I'll be happy to help you out.

Ok, I unziped the folder, got the tablet in bootloader mode, which I already said I tried, nothing.
Weird thing, I plugged the tablet into my other computer, it makes the noise for Windows 8.1 that you hear when you plug a USB device in, but there is no notifcation, nothing in device manager, nothing. Just the sound .

I just want to re-state everything to make sure anyone can understand.
This was a Nexus 10 rooted 4.3 Stock. I got the 4.4 update, it finished without issues, but got the boot loop issue.
I cleared cache, factory reset and eventually the system without luck, which left the tablet without an OS (bootloader or recovery only options).
My systems can not detect the tablet, I have installed, re-installed, tried two different toolkits and no luck.
I can't believe it's an actual brick that can't be fixed? Anyone?
Its definitely NOT your tablet. I had similar issues when rooting a Kindle and it was an issue with the PC's USB drivers. If you search the forums for USB / ADB drivers you will find a detailed discussion on how to delete existing drivers (its a process) and update new drivers.

Did you read? I have installed/reinstalled the drivers 3 times.

I also tried a third computer, and another cable. It will charge from a computer, nothing else.
I went through the same experience; it *was* the drivers. If you're using the wugfresh toolkit, it gives at least three options for driver installation. In my case only the drivers from pdanet worked. I've had similar issues in the past with my N7; in that case only the pdanet drivers worked on one computer, and only the Koush drivers worked on a different computer -- both Win 7 by the way; I have no idea why.
I did have to go through the whole procedure described in the toolkit to manually unistall old drivers and manually remove references to the device before reinstalling the driver.
You can get into TWRP, correct? Do you have a USB-OTG cable? You could download a ROM, put it on a flash drive then install it directly from the USB drive. There should be some flashable stock roms, or if you have an old Nandroid backup on your computer (always a good idea to have) you could restore it.

Don't know what a USB-OTG cable is, and not sure how you'd connect a flash drive, but...
I tried one more computer, this time it was a computer with Windows 7 one it. Detected the tablet right away.
So, why the heck does Windows 8 (8.1 to be exact) not allow my tablet to be seen (im sure with the OS on, and booted in, it will)./

This must be why my Windows 8 machines don't work, but I dont remember seeing other driver options, only the one, will keep in mind in the future.
Sounds like the problem is solved, but I highly recommend getting a USB-OTG cable anyways. Go to Amazon and search for "USB-OTG". You can connect flash drives and external hard drives to your tablet. I got mine for $2.
