How can i have more then 5 screens for Applications ?
I'm gunna guess you mean home screens, and assume you haven't done a search. Press menu, then edit and you can add screens.
Sent from my GT-P1000
No, i don't mean home screens, i know how to make more home screens.
I am talking about Applications Screens.
Thanks anyway.
You just install some more apps. The application screens extend as necessary.

Oh, i see ! Thank you !!!
You can also hit Menu when you are in the application drawer, and an Edit option will be available.
From there you can drag/drop/uninstall apps. Every time you go to the Edit mode, there will always be an extra blank screen where you can move your apps, so moving apps there would increase the number of screens. You can drag apps to the next/previous screen by moving them to the edges until they turn bluish.
That way you can have additional screens without having to feel each screen up.
There's a catch: if you leave any blank spaces on the application screens then sometimes icons from other screens will jump across to fill the gaps. I'm not sure exactly when that happens but I think it might be when you switch between portrait and landscape.
I spent some time sorting all the games onto one page and they then partly unsorted themselves again as the gaps filled up.

Galaxy SIII is a fantastic phone, but I seem to be constantly let down by touchwiz stuff. My idea for this thread is a big, long list of annoyances and suggestions for fixing them.
For example, an annoyance: TW doesn't support sorting the app drawer by name, you have to manually sort things and that goes slow. You would have thought they'd have a better way to manage the app drawer by now, but alas, no.
Solution: AppZorter Lite is a free solution that will sort your app drawer for you. Bonus: I like a nice empty app list, so I've gotten it hidden (one thing TW does do) and just launch it from the store when I need to.
Two that I haven't solved:
1) Facebook has filled my contact list with a huge number of people I don't care about, seems to have ignored the "only sync with existing contacts". Removing facebook users is a process: hold on the user, press delete, confirm that it isn't actually deleting.
2) The default MMS app seems to send (or displays?) all picture messages as slideshows. Super lame. Is there any way to turn this out without installing a 3rd party app?
App drawer, menu, view type, alphabetical grid or list.

much easier than my solution. skipped right over that option.
Thanks.
Trying out Pansi SMS as my sms solution, though it's a bummer that it doesn't interact with the lock screen like the native one.

Scrolling wallpapers!!!! (Already made a thread for it)
The app drawer thing is why I didn't use the TW launcher on the Epic. At least now I can install Apex or Nova in the system/app folder.
Network errors, Sprints fault, not the phone.
Oh, I asked that S-Voice b*tch where she was from and she didn't understand. Guess that's what I get for hitting on my phone. :crying:

I hate the purple/baby blue rim around the phone.
Waiting for a black TPU bumper and black metal battery cover replacement from china to resolve these issues.
Outside of that- much more impressed with the form factor than that of the EVO LTE which i traded for it. The S3 is very comfortable in hand.
Phone is way too slippery!
BTW- Touchwiz sucks! i installed Apex while waiting to check out at BestBuy.

Hi guys,
First, I'm a developer who spends a lot of time with his nose into terminal windows and editors... so please forgive me if I'm used to the "boring" stuff. I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions what widgets should I use to fill few of the tablet screens. So far, the main apps I use on the tablet are the Terminal (go figure) to manage my Linux boxes and my 3 Google Apps accounts (drive, mail, etc.)
I looked on the internet at those "popular widgets" postings and they all show crappy stuff like Google Play, Beautiful Widgets, Facebook etc. With no disrespect, they are useless to me. I'm looking more into "geek" factor, like some nice tablet memory/kernel stats and other cool widgets I could make use of. I know is hard what I ask but I'm looking for input from tech people who use the tablet to manage mostly Linux related stuff, not just the Google Play library.
It sucks to have all those screens empty, thank you for your help.

You could actually design a fancy-nothing widget by yourself that could show random stuff, like stats, load, cool pictures, links to websites, etc, periodically. Resizable, and repicable. That would be nice.

I don't write Android apps. I did wrote from scratch the XDA search you use it every day and helped the guys to optimize their servers, so you can post your content easier. Thanks for the nice insults.
Yea wth?
Anyway. I suggest Android Pro Widgets. Its free but I recommend buying it for themeing ablilities. They are scrollable Widgets for Facebook, twitter, calendar, favorites, etc. I have a page dedicated to these alone. I like my main homescreen very minimalistic.
Outside of that I use some sort of weather widget. I don't listen to music often and my status bar has toggles. Not sure what else you would need.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Could try minimalistic text and create your own text widgets showing stats of the tablet.
Does anyone got any good music widgets?
Battery Monitor Widget Pro and System Tuner Pro have some decent geeky widgets. Not great though. I'd like to find some more too.

I strongly recommend Elixir Widgets 2. Highly customizable, lots of options (more than any other), sips battery and CPU.

Might there be a way to fiddle the settings? (eg screen resolution)
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Because the Nexus 7 has a bigger screen so its stock ROM was designed with more room for icons.
Yes, you can play with the system settings.... but why would you want to do so if there are ROMs/apps out there that do those thing perfectly fine?
I won't stop you from playing with your phone or developing your own ROM though
Edit: And Apex is fantastic. I used it from version 0.3, never lagged or slow (well, except for a few beta builds)

nothing about nova or apex is going to slow you down. you will never know its there. promise. and you get mad customizing from them. i dont use apex, but with nova you can speed up the animations and screen swipes. these arent go launchers by the way. these are launchers that some devs will pack in their roms because they run so seamlessly.
I want write an idea about an app which can help in multitasking.
I'm not able to do that but... Someone may be able??
The idea is simple: in ios when I launch an app I can pause it and resume it without problems. I can resume it from where it was. It's possible to make an app which can make this? Can "freeze" the app in state which it is and resume it from the last point?
No lock in memory (ram, zram or swap) but write the state on sd card to resume it.
I hope I'm not writing something impossible
I'm absolutely not a fan boy of apple and ios! But I hate to have a gs3 and have a very poor multitasking and see how much app iPhone can handle in the same time!
Hope in something good
From universe with my gs3
Depending on how you go to your app, the state will be preserved. For example, if I open Falcon Pro, hit home and press the icon again, the app loads back up just like you said. But if I do the same thing except instead instead of pressing home, I long press the home button and go into Falcon, everything is redrawn and the app basically starts over. The way multitasking is handled can depend on your Android version too,

Try Greenify.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk HD
Greenefy can't make the trick. I have asked in the dedicated thread.
I have android 4.1.2 version. I also think it depends from the app but.... It's possible to manipulate externally the apps to have this behavior?

Wonderful to switch between apps but not for multitasking...
From universe with my gs3
My only complaint about Android 4.0+ multitasking is having only a single column preview of apps, and only 3-4 fit on a screen. Two columns would be ideal. I saw some HTC phone that had that, don't remember which one, it fit 9 previews on the screen, and I haven't found an apk to do that.
This is just my point of view and is not intended to offend anyone.
iOS doesn't multitask.
The whole freezing the app so it continues where its at would 1.Be power hungry and possible drain batteries. 2. Resources hungry, imagine if you completely overwrote how android really multitasks and just decided to store all these apps in RAM, just like a iOS does, your phone would slow down to a crawl!
(I have friends with iPhone 5s that get a little pop up box telling them to close apps to free up memory to be able to run other apps)
Androids multitask feature does and is way more progressive than iOS will ever be. You can continue on your work. But android multitasking is one of a kind.
I have a gs3 as well and I've never had a problem with multitask at all... I've never had to add extra tweaks to make my device faster... I can open 30 different apps and switch between them easily while my wife's iPhone simply asks her to close apps to open new ones...

I've had an iPhone and I never had any issues with running out of memory or even battery life for that matter. That was my iPhone 4 so I would imagine the 5 handles it better. While I love Android I will admit iOS handles multitasking way better, while Android makes it easier with the recent apps interface.
